x_Morning_Star_x Posted December 18, 2012 Share Posted December 18, 2012 Hi all, i recently purchased a Gallien Krueger 2001RB, i'm currently using a couple of cheapy behringer cabs and would like to upgrade, i have a 1x15 and a 4x10, the 4x10 is supposed to be 1000w but i'm not so sure as ive recently got a bit of a crackle in one of the cones since using this new head. Lozz196 Posted December 18, 2012 Share Posted December 18, 2012 I`ve not had the same GK amp as you, but had a couple of the GK MB range, and the cab I found that I liked best with them was the Peavey TVX410. Depends whether you want a mid driver and/or a tweeter for higher frequency extension. If not from my experience I would go for 2 x Compacts as they can really pump it out LOL! Good luck. Depending on your volume needs you could get one or two of these. ThomBassmonkey Posted December 19, 2012 Share Posted December 19, 2012 It depends what sound you're after. I have a 2001RB-II and it sounds great with either my 410RBHs or my NEO212s. If you get a cab that can handle low ends well, you'll be sorted with that set-up for any kind of music IMO. Obviously, price, weight etc are possibly all factors. I am sure you would get quite a sound out of it..but all that messing around for 400 odd watts....??? And depending the amps x-over capability..?? what do yopu really achieve..? Very dirty when I dig in and cuts through like an extremely cutty thingy. Truckstop Posted January 27, 2013 Share Posted January 27, 2013 +1 on Ashdown ABM cabs. I used to have a 400RB and an Ashdown ABM410 and it shifted some serious air. Pretty heavy but I would happily deal with the weight to get that tone again. It sounded really dense and powerful; don't get me wrong I love my MB210, but I feel that lightweight bass gear lacks a certain strength to it. If ever need a big rig again, I'll go for an RB rig.
