Isn't it a tube screamer derivative?
[/quote]
First I've heard of it!
I would get a Darkglass B7K but they're so expensive..
How's the B3K compared to the '7K?
Can I still get a Periphery sound out of it? *thread hijack*

You should be able to get pretty damn close with the b3k.

Alright, thanks.

it is a tube-screamer based design... i sold my old bassdrive and got an xotic bass BB preamp

Good suggestion! I'll check it out, thank you!
Now I have to decide between the BB and the B3K..

I used to have a Durham Electronics Zia drive which sounded a lot like the bass drive in comp-cut mode, which was my favourite mode of that pedal. The B3k can kop that tone but its over kill - if thats all you want it for, as it's far, far better than that. The Xotic is a great shout as it does sound like the bass drive, from the demo's I've heard, and won't break the bank.

THIS VIDEO IS SICK!! :D

Hence, my attraction to the B7K..

I feel like the BB is too warm and fuzzy. I'm looking for something more.. metallic, I guess.

I traded my fulltone bass drive (non-mosfet) for a BB bass pre-amp too.

they sound really similar although the bass and trble controls i much prefer than tone on the fulltone. the BB preamp has better top in my opinion but the fulltone is better on the lows, although I had the non-mosfet version which again IMO is a lot less whooly.

How come you found your Fulltone to be better on the lows? As in the sound or the presence of Bass? I mean the BB has the potential to have a ridiculously large amount of low end!

I haven't played with the BB tone too much due to lack of time, but will certainly investigate and at the minute the lows are getting rolled back due to my strings being really old.

The fulltone was just fuller on the lows overall, the highs still gritted up nice but they where softer on the lows, more like a low gain fuzz on the lows with high gain OD over the highs, so it filled the low end in the mix better.
The BB I still prefer though due to it's overall sound as it's more gnarly in the mid range, and the 2 EQ tone controls are more useful, although the knobs are ridiculous to see in the dark.
