On my watch list too :D

We should go for a 50/50 ownership thing. Your need appears to be the greater so I will refrain from bidding (I promise)!

Oh yes, sorry. Not to my taste either.

I'll be maxing out at £200 on that BB.

The DX would be perfect if I played in a comedy hair metal tribute band called Spam Dagger but fortunately I haven't sunk that low yet. Maybe next year ;-)

So what's the difference between this Cimar and an Ibanez Blazer or Roadster? Cheaper hardware? Cheaper pickups? Body construction?

And this Aria Pro II RSB Performer is absolutely delicious :gas:

Starting bid is top of my budget though <_<

I'd say that Fernandez is a mighty good buy. My fave in this thread so far. . .
If the BBs on eBay go over £200 it could well be the one. The neck is stunning :-)

Jap BB300 - 150 on gumtree... http://www.gumtree.c...a-bass/95454545

Thanks! I've messaged him! The extra pickup and switch look interesting, doesn't look original and the J looks to be an SD Basslines.

see my great idea was to find a decent PJ setup bass in need of a pickup change and point out the very nice young man selling a lovely pJ set of barts.... but it didn't work as this already has upgraded pups... very different sound but I quite like SD's too :D

I have that exact same Bart combo on an Ibanez I'm going to sell soon.

could you not sell the ibanez to yourself for £50 then spend £150 on upgrades? :D
There's nothing in the rules about that and it does meet all the criteria laid down ;) other than the fact that I don't really get on with it which is a shame cos it's so gorgeous, it's an old 90's Jap Custom Made SR1300 with an East U-Retro and PJ Barts. Once I've fitted the Bart P it's going up for sale.

You'd probably get it with at least £50 to spare too. I have an Aria Pro II CSB 300 that I've played to death which is similar and is just a wonderful, straight up, great bass to play.

They look great but it's that upper horn, when the strap is on it fret 1 is too far away for my comfort. That's going to be a bargain for someone.

That surprises me. These basses are over an inch shorter than similar period BB models, and given the placement of the bridge and the contouring of the waist and depth of the body, sit slightly further forward, making the reach to the first fret the same as, if not slightly shorter than, on a BB. Know what you mean about the upper horn projection, as opposed to a BB being over the 13th fret, but I find it's just the angle of the strap that's affected, which doesn't impact on reach, for me. All that said, a "Wing" series bass wouldn't be my first choice. Although I love the guitars, the basses are poor performers by comparison, and not in the league of other Japanese makes of the time.

I would disagree here - I had a Scavenger bass and it was better build quality than Westones I have had. To be honest, I'm struggling to see how it is any worse quality than my MIJ mid 80s Fender Power Jass Special or more recent MIJ Fender Jaguar. maybe I was lucky - it was an early one so perhaps better than later models? Yes the electrics let it down - easily upraded in budget - but way it was put together and quality of the components is superb. Neck was absolutely briliant. But - mine was over 11lbs. And, yes, the neck was slanted slightly further away so fretting an F was always a bit of a reach.

I used to play in a comedy 80's hair metal band called Iron Python....

I used a Yamaha BBG4 which was a cracking bass and might well fit your criteria?

If we all took that attitude, there would be no one on this forum! :P
