[/quote] Guilty as charged, I'm afraid! I put a kayak spraydeck on flea bay a few weeks ago and really tried to take some decent pics of it, but just couldn't get it to look like anything other than a black blob on a white background. I gave up and used one from the manufacturers web site. It didn't sell.... I am also probably guilty of using poor quality pics and apologising for them, I really am just very bad at photography. [/quote] Perhaps the non running amp is automatically switched out of circuit, but then again, with todays technology anything could be happening. I always err on the side of caution with amps having had one blow mid gig at a major outdoor festival because a silly sound engineer tripped over my speaker lead and disconnected it. It was a low brick wall on what looked like a balcony, and it was balancing on its back with the wall running underneath it perpendicular to the direction of the neck. [/quote] I've been told by three diff amp techs that it's safe with a valve amp so long as there's no signal received; ie. there's no input lead plugged in. Though it's not something I can ever thing of a worthy reason for doing. Any ad pics would look far better if you want to show an amp fired up by sitting it on a cab, clearly marked as not part of the package. I remember when computers actually started when they were as big as a spare room for a basic timer programmer. The length of time to put it there to take the pic would be minimal, the actual area of the bass in contact with the snow is minimal. The air would be very cold and thus fairly dry. All in all I'd say the electronics in that bass probably saw less moisture than an average sweaty club gig. I had to get a friend to help me control my alarm clock from my vintage home computer; here we are checking the timer settings using a 'proper' interface device - none of this WIMP nonsense.
