Here is a picture of my 2005 Ltd Edition butter cream Stingray 5 with a silver paisley scrarchplate.

The plate has a real sparkle to it.
I will try and take some better pictures in natural daylight when I get a moment.

I have developed a thing for veneer scratch plates. Why spoil a nice bit of wood and wire with a slab of plastic!! B)

That's a great idea :)
Did you make the plate yourself ?
What is the vaneer ?

I would love to put a dark grain vaneer plate on my natural Stingray 5 :)

Used a Squier VM plate as template. Got some 4mm ply and machined it down to 2mm (Thats the difficult bit lol) Veneered some birdseye maple on top. Reduced the overall size by 1.5mm all round. Strips of Black/boxwood binding glued around the edges then chamfered back to give you that 3 ply look. Varnished with household clear a few times then cut out the bell plate and neck profiles. Finally stuck on with double sided industrial tape. Its very tempting to just stick some veneer over a plastic scratch plate but give it a while and the veneer will shrink / move as all wood will and it will come away from the plastic. Glad you like it :D

One way to get personal/special is to cut/get made a scratch plate from clear Acrylic or Polycarbonate/Lexan sheet, then fit whatever you want underneath, veneer, wallpaper, photograph, newspaper, cornflakes packet, squashed flies, whatever you like. You can even do custom artwork on the reverse & have it protected by the see through top.

Best to give them a call as sometimes they have items in stock that are not on the website.

Not what i call cheap but it is very well pit together.
My photo does not do it justice , it is much better looking in the flesh :)
