OldGit
I ue one of these for cables and to elevate my cab. It's perfect for all the stuff I like to take to gigs, The odd shaped things fit in it; It fits the space in the car and cupboard, has wheels and a pull-along handle and is tough enough to stand on (or to pile 5 aluminium cases on and roll along) but light enough to lift when full ... However I need a new one as the lid is breaking up beyond gaffa repairs... No one seems to stock them in the UK anymore and the manufacture doesn't reply to emails (grrrrrrr) so .. 1 - does your local pound shop or B&Q stock this precise box - the "Plast Team 2046" (but not in white) 2 Do you have a recommendation for a cable box that may do everything that this does? Have you tried your local "Pound World" type shop? I've seem them in ours from time to time.

WH Smith internal delivery boxes are good too but a bit big
jakenewmanbass
Best cable boxes I've seen (doubling as sturdy stands with a black cloth draped over) are Ammo tins, quite cheap from army and navy stores. Or the medium sized soft hardware cases for drums, 'Protection Racket'. Edited March 18, 2008 by jakesbass

I did think about ammo tins as my band mate has one but it weights loads empty and rips up car seats Not on wheels either ... Looks cool though and my percussion lives in a Action Man Ammo box I may get one of these but it's a bit too large for the space in my gear cupboard at home ... FJ1200
I have a similar plastic box but split the lid on Sunday (raining too!) so going to build myself a strong one that will sit on top of the amp for wheeling around, but be strong enough to act as a stand as well. That way I can have proper compartments and maybe if I'm clever get my POD XT Live in it as well in a properly protected foam-lined compartment. I can then also have it properly lockable. Then maybe if I add gps to it and Sky-plus, maybe a microwave, fridge for summer beers............... (Mmmm - like the wheeled box OldGit has just posted.) tauzero
Staples do something similar, though the one I've got is unwheeled (and it's for instrument tools and bits rather than taking to gigs).

However I've found the features of this one work well. I bought it in B&Q or Homebase or some-such and I'm just a tad annoyed that, yet again, something I think is really good is no longer available.. For example on Saturday the stage was the wrong end of the hall so 4 Ali cases, stage clothes and a guitar case went on top and that lot got a shove with my foot and rolled the length of the hall to the load out door... Without (4) wheels that would have been 4 journeys or I'd have to use my sack truck ....
acidbass
Have you thought about using a couple of toolboxes as a replacement? The keys player in my band uses Stanley aluminium ones with the internal toolbox trays removed, they look the part and do their job very well! clauster
Found out yesterday that our singer got a bit tipsy over the weekend and ordered a 20 cubic foot (5' X 4' X 2') flightcase for PA and mic leads. Oh the fun we'll have lugging that up stairs and onto stages!
