Or was this an earlier method before they started going through the body from under the control plate? I think it was before they started drilling a hole from bridge to control cavity. 1 Quote
Bagman Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 The “Ashtray” bridge cover would also conceal the ground strip Quote

For sure it's partly in the fingers! Well, if it's some consolation: the bass he's playing is a USA Joe Osborn. I've owned both the Skyline 55-60 and the USA JO5 (still own that) and although they're both great basses, the USA is something else. It might be the best 5 string Jazz I've ever played, and I've played dozens. The Skyline is véry very good, especially for the price. But it's not a USA. 2 1 Quote

No music shops nearby unfortunately. Btw could you tell it's a USA visually from differences? Quote
BassAgent Posted September 14, 2025 Posted September 14, 2025 (edited) Trying one might turn out to be difficult: USA Laklands are not widely in stock in music shops. I know of about 2 or 3 shops in Europe that have them. And yes, you can see the differences (but you have to know what to look for): the USA Osborns have stacked knobs, the Skylines have 3 black knobs (like a "regular" Jazz). The Skylines have the skyline logo on the headstock: These are my current JO5 and my ex-55-60 next to each other: Edited September 14, 2025 by BassAgent 1 Quote
IanA Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 Have never owned a gold bass before… saw this for sale and just had to have it. Not at all what I expected, full of modern and classic tones and the neck is so so fast 5 Quote
Marvin Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago My 2 Jazz basses. The black one, is my Sire V7. It's a first generation and I can't remember how long I've had it. It was one of the very first ones made with a signed neckplate. I took the plate off and replaced it was a blank plate. The original lives in a box. I've used it a lot and apart from the neckplate I've done no modifications to it, I've never felt the need. The V7 has been my main bass since I bought it (I did have a Squier P bass as a back up). The 3 tone burst Jazz I bought recently from a fellow Basschatter. I love it. I wanted a passive Jazz with a classic look and this fits that bill. Don't let the Sire hear, but this is probably my main bass now. 2 Quote

MM Stingray 62 Posted 48 minutes ago Posted 48 minutes ago Thanks I don’t think Viv made many long scale basses. Quote
