a neck conundrum

So I have just started a little project and need a replacement jazz neck. It seems the UK market is particularly painful on this though, no one seems to stock mighty mite or warmoth that I can find?? So I have found a couple of other options, but I can't for the life of me gauge how good they are and why the price difference is so much.

Option A. Friendly Korean neck, relatively inexpensive

Option B. Nearly 100 smackers more, looks the same

Can anyone give an insight or alternative here? Budget is hopefully around £100, second hand is totally fine too

Thanks!

I bought a maple Mighty Mite Jazz neck from an ebay seller in the states, cost about 75 quid shipped in total - all import fees included. This was about 18 months ago though. Took a long time to come but looks like a great neck, however, i'm actually yet to fit it :)

I did some research on this a while ago and as far as I could tell people had good and bad experiences with just about every brand neck.
On the whole the £59 necks had slightly less bad reviews than the £150 ones!
As I was making a twin neck I went with CH guitars (£59) to keep costs down, and so far I'm happy with them. The finish needed a bit of attention (ten minutes with some sand paper). I bought jazz necks and they look quite delicately made, not the chunky things you sometimes get on a cheap bass. I haven't finished the job yet so I have no idea how they play.

These are a bit more than MM necks, but quality and specs are Fender-level; truss rod adjust at the heel for one thing; maple - http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Jazz_Bass...nfinished_JM-UF , rosewood - http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/Jazz_Bass...nfinished_JR-UF

Can of nitro spray a tenner, will give you a more authentic finish than poly.

Because the first one is not worth using for kindling. I bought a finished jazz neck from this lot and it was totally crap. Finishing on it had been done by a madman with a sanding machine and the nut was so gigantic that when I attached it to my bass body and put strings on the action was so high I could have used the bass to shoot arrows with.

A lesson learned and £66 down the swanny river. I have just bought this one and hopefully it's what I'm looking for http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Good luck.

- almost totally the opposite of my experience! the only issue i had with the finish (they could be described as unfinished) was a couple of minore dinks that i sanded out. There were no visible sanding marks , there were a few ragged bits around the holes for the machine heads. The nuts were the standard size that I've seen on any jazz bass, I would expect them to be slightly oversized to alow for some adjustment.
I've also seen the same criticisms given to more expensive necks when I posted a similar enquiry last year!
I think it depends how much work you are prepared to do yourself, the more you spend the less you should have to do to it.

You could have a point there..... :)

I was expecting a nut that didn't need any filing but now I think of it that's probably all it would have needed. Too late now though I've bought the allparts neck.

Anybody fancy a 2nd hand Jazz Bass neck from C H Guitars........going cheap

Checking out the allparts before I do though
