my my, what a sexy amp, wonder where you got that from! :) Is it just me or is a knob missing from the rack tuner?
I thought it was like that when you had it?

*Just nipped upstairs and checked again, I found it, but I'm still confused on what the hell it actually does.
me too, even when it was in I had no idea, I just twidled it sometimes. I've only ever used it for a tuner, though I suspect the knob is for the metronome part of it
Good point.

Missing it yet though man?

Check it :)

One might be the wrong way round!

Getting an Orange OBC 1x15 to make an all Orange rig

Also got a pre-Gibson/pre-Peavey Trace Elliot GP12400SMX when I don't fancy taking the Orange. Very nice head....very clear and loud. Not selling it now, my first proper Amp Head.....its worth keeping :D
surprisingly I'm not, I really love the portability of the GB over the slight tonal loss I get. Take it you prefer the GK to the EBS?
The TD650 was a nice head, but it just became way too harsh for my liking. The best way to describe the GK is smooth, the mids are just much more more warmer and well rounded. As you can see in the pics, I have just the lower mids and the bass boosted, and it's the perfect tone for both of my basses.

Josh, does that Gramma pad make any difference? I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Today I got some cabs at last and now my pro quality rig for under £300 is complete. It sounds fantastic, everything I wanted. I can plug my bass straight into the power amp or use the Vbass into the amp in stereo. The cabs have a thunderous low end and are really REALLY articulate and clear. I will still be using IEMs 99% of the time but this fits the bill for the other 1%.

The cabs are pretty light (about 55lbs) and quite compact (4x8 and 1x15) so moving it about should be easier and the two cabs fit in the boot of my Vectra!

Cheers

Well, to my ear the GP does indeed enhance the sound, both increasing definition and projection. One major thing it does for me is that it gives me a great open E, on any other amp before I had the Auralex, the low E always lacked a certain punch/kick/chop/haymaker, but as soon as I put it under the EBS rig it suddently jumped right out at me each time I played it.

IMHO it is worth the hype.
how much are they again? And does it stop the bass annoying the people in the room below?
Well I got mine for £85 from Bass Direct.

Indeedly it does sir, they still can hear it but thats only if you insist on playing at stupid volumes, but you don't feel it travelling through the floors at all, instead you feel it in the room around you.

I use a GRAMMA Pad and am very pleased with it! I've been using it on my band's quiet gigs (we play 2 nights a week in a cocktail bar with a sound limiter that cuts out if somebody farts, so DI/monitors only allowed!)- I use it underneath the monitor that I share with our drummer's electronic kit, and it's made a BIG difference! Using it has cut out most of the boominess of the hollow stage that was creating havoc with the band's onstage sound, and everyone can hear themselves better as a result. Well worth it IMO, whether you buy one or make your own... :)

LOL yeah the cabs sound fantastic mate. I am almost feeling better now, too. Back to work tomorrow, I think.

Maybe I put this in the wrong thread??

P.s Josh that's just a fairly non offensive fleece but it does look a bit like a cape or something. Damn I should have worn a cape. And a headband.

Ok, about time I got a pic of my new rig up. Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 with a pair of 8ohm 300 Watt Ashdown ABM Mini 12's, customised with Celestion Neo's. To say I'm chuffed with it is an understatement, I'm getting all sorts of compliments about the look and the sound, plus I can carry the whole lot into a venue in one go if I so desire (amp in a laptop bag, speaker in each hand). Best sound I've had, was fairly happy with my old Trace combo, but this blows it away at a fraction of the weight. Particularly pleased with the tube preamp.
Minor niggles are the 'Buffalo leather' covering, which I don't think will stand up to much-a pair of Roqsolid covers are in the offing. Also one of them was damaged in transit-don't use DHL!!! They dropped one of them, bashed a metal corner protector in and caused one of the tweeters to crack and come away from its mountings. Nick Carey, who I bought them from, is very helpfully pursuing a claim on my behalf, will let you know how it all turns out. Thankfully it doesn't affect the sound-used them live a couple of weeks ago and was delighted. Anyhow, here's the rig in all its glory.
Debated weather to post this or not but decided it was quite funny. I AM trying to look like a tool btw, and I don't have to try that hard.

Hey there "bono" you should post your rig in the SWR porn thread :)
