1. BE great ifyou couldupload your own pics as the ones in the link won't go full size for me.
2.
Its cool if you are into the vintage stuff, pre EB etc, I like the sound of the newer basses as well, having owned a fair few in my time. So post EB takeover sound with 2 band eq is good for me. I like the look of these (my Jazz is sea foam green!) so I will probably buy one at some point cos I can Would be good if I could get a stingray body with a sterling neck! I know they do the SLO versions of the std stingray, but would they do that on the classic series? I like the sterling neck, but the body is just a bit small for me, hence the reason for the mix! Tony
I'm sure I sure they had the SLO neck option on the classics on the website, but can't remember. To be honest they should re-issue the Sabre bass.
3. I'm very interested mate, my brother plays with carbon fiber all time with his car, the real stuff looks the business. Always thought of doing it myself but I'd struggle with the pickup routes. You could do neck plates, pickup covers, pickup surrounds, truss rod covers, pickup casing, jack plates, erm? I think that just about covers it.
4. The classics have string mutes.- If everyone thought like that there would be no basses already run in - At the minute it's a buyers Market, I wouldn't buy a new bass right now unless it was amazing and I planned on keeping it a few years.- Fender are doing alright, EBMM are doing alright. No experience of G&L so can't comment.
5.
hands down, it's my dream guitar rig. It's not getting used so I'm selling and downsizing. 140 watts of clean headroom to full on distortion. The 4x12 is I think vintage cestion 30w loaded. It sounds amazing, it's warm and full, sings so much it makes me want to wet myself, I can hardly believe it's me playing it sometimes times. With 2 channels on seperate EQs it is like having 2 valve heads, I usually set it up as one channel clean the other as a crunch. It takes pedals so well so if you have a nice boutique pedals you'll get the most out of it with this amp. It is ridiciculously loud!!! I mean imagine standing next to a jet engine on a huge jumbo jet, and I'm sure this will go louder. It's surely built to play stadiums. I also have a SS half stack that's 150 watt and it doesn't sound nearly as loud as the orange does. It us in used condition, the head is in rativily good condition, it's probably just bit dirty. The cab however has suffered some harsh gigs, there is a few tears in the tolex and the weave cover is caved in two big areas but it doesn't stop it from sounding amazing. Price: Head £1000 + Official footswitch ( a bargain as the only other one I've seen sold for £2200) Cab £250 Complete £1150 (£100 saving) Unless you have pre-EB musicman stingray or a big al 4str SSS, I'm looking for a straight sale. Collection from nottingham, about 10 minutes from the city centre. If you want it couriered i can do my best to check but I'd rather you organised this yourselves. I want this gone pretty soon, I need the space and cash so I'm open to offers for bass gear and cash my way. Just offer me offer me what you have please.
6. It's supposed to be like that? They may return your money? The product is quiet clearly broken, and was so before you paid for it, so I'm pretty positive they have to give you the money back, or at the very least exchange it. Also if what you say is true I doubt that they will get it much better.
7. I don't think so. However it is very light indeed it doesn't feel like 14kg which I believe the older ones were.
8. Personally, I have always used a mixture and EBsuper slinkys or regular slinkys (depending on bass), also I only enjoy the sound they have once they are worn in a bit which takes about 6 weeks to get and then they last about 4 months till they get too dead. I've played with d'arddio chrome flats on a number over passes and they play great, and have a quiet a bit of definition in them, although they die (on me) pretty quick. IMO flats are good for cancelling out some of that unwanted buzz and noise but at the end of the day they won't do wonders and you'll have to practice and learn how to play in a way that minimises these noises.
9.
[ Just saw what you said about running the Jag in series - if it's sounding boomy then don't! Series pickups often appeals because it's 6dB louder but at the expense of depth in the lows (you get more upper bass, that's the boomy stuff), and upper midrange and treble punch/clarity. Run the pickups in parallel and turn the gain up on your amp. Generally for loud stuff having both pickup balanced equally knocks out too much midrange so pan towards neck or bridge a bit to get more punch. Also consider using just the front pickup, that can give a very big but clear tone, or just the back for more compressed gnarliness. Get the sound right at the bass and everything else generally falls into place!
This is what alex has told me about the output of series wiring over parallel. And I understand now that my perceived warmth was just a total loss of articulation and clarity.
10. Well pre-EB rays, in brand new condition are hard to come by. It appeals to me, cause I've been gassing for the string mutes for awhile. But for 2k I'd rather buy a SSS big all or a HH Reflex. Atleast I get more pickups, and more electronics for that price. The price seems a bit steep though.
11. Price drop as I could use the money to help to move out.
12. Lowered the price to help persuade anyone. Trades still open for a midget, orange isobaric 2x10. Or anyway vert light weight, 1x12 2x10. Or even something crazy like a 4x5 (a la PJB gear) as long as it goes as low as 33hz, no tweetered cabs thanks
13. I must be too young to understand the appeal of that sound. It sounds to me as if he is playing a different song to everyone else while trying to play every note possible. That's just me.
14. I'm sure you can spare a spare 325 spondulicks.
15. still available even cheaper now. I have to save up to move house.
16. Im downsizing due to needs and available space. I've ordered a Barefaced midget, so the money would go towards re-financing my banks account. if you are looking on here or are a regular basschatter you know what this is, so hopefully I dont need to describe it too much. condition is like new, it looks brand new. with the silver grill cloth. Its been used with an ampeg SVT III pro, an Orange AD140(for sale) and currently the Orange Terror Bass 500w model. Its also only been gigged 4 times, once at with no PA support, no problem though didnt need it, could hear every note clear as day 200 yards at the back of the hall we was in. this thing shakes my house, and you only have to search it and find out all its praise. I'd like to sell for £300, collected (from nottingham) or I can figure out posting it, which should be around £25, but dont hold me to that. also I'd be open to trades on a very light 1x12 (prefer another midget) or the 2x10 isobaric orange cab. 17. I've actually done this. Just split my signal and it sounds like butter melting inside a rhino.
