2.
Blimey, El salvador by The Insane now there's a blast from the past.
Mackie from Blitz was a big influence to me and Gary MacCormack of The Exploited. 3.
Warhead was for me! I love the UK Subs. They're playing this Sunday in London which I'll be going to. Other first basslines include "Wonderful World" by the 4Skins, "Tube Disasters" Flux of Pink Indians and "When ya Get Drafted" by the Dead Kennedys. Two fantastic bass players, especially Bruce Thomas. I really rate his playing and his sound too. Get Happy is an absoloute milestone for new wave basslines. As for JJ Brunel. He carried my bass amp into a rehearsal studio on the Holloway Road back in the 1980s. He's a really nice down to earth geezer.
Tube disasters by Flux was my first bassline, along with El salvador by The Insane.
 4. i recently joined a tribute band to The Cult. Today i was learning Dirty little rock star.
 5.
Thank you for the selective quotation from, and loose, but inaccurate, interpretation of, my posting. Had it been my intention to refer to the printed publication media utilised by Fender across the decade referenced, and I employed language inaccurately, I possibly would have referred to "catalogues". As my intention was to refer to the "list" of models produced, or released, by Fender across the decade referenced the usage was, correctly, employed. Maybe you were confused by the duality of English language? And perhaps, before attempting selective quotation in future you will take into account sentence context, and refrain from misrepresenting other people’s statements. I would also refer you to the text of the original post, where, at no point, does the author state his question is specific to either production or custom models. In this context, as you yourself concede, the information detailed by my posting is correct, and was stated specifically to assuage the impression given, in the post therein quoted, that the item in question was, most likely, fake - although I suspect a statement genuinely made to stress the doctrine of caveat emptor.
a nice choice of words strung together there! sorry but i've never seen such 'patronizzzing' drivel before! unless of course you were taking the piss, which is fine.
 6. Bruce Foxton-The Jam Derek Forbes-Simple Minds Klaus Flouride-Dead Kennedys a bit old school but...so what!
 7. Klaus Flouride from Dead Kennedys, brilliant basslines. Holiday in Cambodia, Too drunk to f**k, police truck, lets lynch the landlord! How can you resist.
 8.
I AM LEFTY I PLAY RIGHTY
I'm a lefty who plays righty as well.
 9.
4 string Jack Bass was pumping serious reggae tone too, so I wouldn't worry too much mate. Good luck!
a jack bass will do the job for much cheapness, the dogs nads for dub stuff.imo.

 12.
Glad you're enjoying it Davie! Post some action photos from your next AC/DC tribute gig if you get the chance... All the best Etienne
i sure will etienne. it's a great bass, thanks.
 13. Bought this beauty from Etienne on here. I love it. Looks great, sounds great, plays great.
 14. Here's my (heavy) rig. I'm looking for a 4 x 10 or 2 x 10 trace cab to finish it off
 15.
Very nice and a hell of a steal-well played that man! For a bloke supposedly happy and GAS-free with his P-bass, I'm getting more and more itchy for a Rick. Never used to like 'em when Foxton was using one, but a bloke in a local band has one and it sounds cracking, plus I like the '50's styling. I have an urge for a JetGlo, but I don't get on too well with the white scratchplate. Is there a reason why I've never seen a JetGlo with a black scratchplate? This is a purely theoretical question as the chances of me actually getting a Rick are currently virtually zero, but you never know!
heres my other ricky with a chrome scratchplate. That one cost a bit more than £300 though!
 16. Before i'd heard about Basschat i only had one bass, a hohner jack bass custom, headless of course. it did me for years until all of you guys made me buy another 6 basses . All headed ones. i still like my headless hohner but it does feel strange now that i have been playing so much with headed basses.
 17.
Nice score re. the residue from the stickers. The one 'safe' method (least likely to affect any finish) is a soft cloth and WD40... honest you'd be amazed what that stuff can shift.
never thought of WD40. i'll give that a go tonight, cheers.
 18.
Agreed - today I went to my local car boot & came home with a Westone Thunder 1 (just the g*it*r, unfortunately) and two Shure mics - an SM58 and a Unidyne 545, all for the princely sum of £14! Not quite a Rick for £300 (lucky sod! ) but just goes to show there are deals to be had, & people with no idea - or who just don't care - what they've got. J.
weldone Mr Bassassin, and thanks for your help as well.
 19. you've got some f***ing great looking basses there clarky. loving the lemmy.
 20.
cool, enjoy it then you lucky swine
cheers kev if you (or any other basschatters) need a bass looked at in aberdeen just drop me a PM and i can probably pop over and see it.
 21.
Hi Davie, you are one lucky dude! I posted on the other thread this evening - I believe you have a 1992 4003S model as played by the great Lemmy (pic on other thread) Nice one!
aye cheers clarky it was your advice that made me decide it was worthwhile. cheers dude. davie.
 22.
lets just hope its not stolen!! you might wanna email rickenbacker to make sure about this hopefully all is good, looks lovely
defo not stolen. i know friends of the seller and asked them and he's down in his luck and just needs money quick. he sold another ricky a few months ago. credit crunch. but he did say he hoped i used it for gigging, which is wot i intend doing.
 23.
PS here is Lemmy playing a 4003S (or maybe its predecessor the 4001S) http://jakdknife.tripod.com/lemmy.jpg
cool. ive got a spare black ricky pickgaurd, it has to be done!
 24. ohh what a weekend! yesterday i saw this http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/equip...ale-%A3300.html i went to see it today and decided even if it is a copy, for £300 it'll be worth it. so i've bought it. looks like the real thing and i'm dead chuft that i managed to get a bargain for a change, yeha. i think its a 1992 4003. maple glow. it has a bent D string tuner but nothing bad, a few wee dings. i've changed the strings, set it up again and just had a play and it plays and sounds great. Does anyone know good stuff to take off sticker glue (there was a few stickers)? £300 yes, i'm one happy bunny davie.
 25. well, i went to see the ricky and...........i bought it it certainly looks like the real thing, i've checked it against my other one (a 1996 4003) and the only differences i can see are the fin fret inlays, binding and 1 input instead of the 2 inputs. even is its not the real thing it looks great! only has a few dings. and the tuner works fine and isnt that bad at all,the stickers peeled off no prob. the guy who sold it to me (through aberdeenmusic.com) was in DESPERATE need of cash. has played in bands for a while in aberdeen and i know friends of his. i didnt need a big f*** off mate with me thankfully i'll post new pics in the gear porn section. aberdeen dodgy? nae chance not everyone gets a share of the oil money unfortunetly davie.
