1. I do love Warwicks, but it's now just turning into a one bass fascination with them, as I've owned 2 Streamers ( A pre 92 5 String and a 98 Streamer Stage II which is now Benwhites) a Corvette $$ (I couldn't see the fuss to be honest) and a Thumb Bolt-On 4 string, and really the only one which I held onto for a substantial amount of time was the Thumb. And the only Warwick which causes GAS nowadays is a Thumb NT, as I've always wanted one of those ever since I first saw it on Three Doors Down video on American Pie 2, and Mudvayne happen to be bringing out a new album and that Thumb tone is just taunting me again. A lot of the reasons to why most people dislike Warwicks have already been said and I agree with them as well, but also I think some dislike them because they associate Warwicks with kid bassists who have no idea which basses do what and just get a Warwick and then insist on Warwick being the best ever, or many hate them purely becuse of being "Furniture" basses and the truth is they have never even played one. Even recently I had my friend come over and see my basses recently, and I still had my SSII, he just looked at it and said "Ohhh Warwicks, I don't like Warwicks", and just being curious I ask as to why, and his answer was "Just don't like them", and then I ask is it the tone or looks or necks etc... and got the same answer, and then I offered him to have a go and he instantly said no, and unfortunatley some guys on here are the same. As I said I love Warwicks but I don't think I could own one again, other than a Thumb NT, and even with that I don't know how long it would last. I've moved on from them quite happily but I still think the stick they get sometimes is quite unjustified.
  2. I'm quite curious to know if anybody else is the same, as of the last 3 or more months I've been constantly happy with everything in regards to bass. I'm hitting that tone I've been chasing for a long time every single time I pick my basses up, besides the odd very slight tweaking of the treble and pan on my basses, both the amp and basses are still set up exactly the same as they were when I first got them. And in my playing I'm actually managing to pull off things I always wanted to over the last few years, and the theory is gradually making sense and I'm taking much more notice but at the same time not letting it dominate my playing. It's really that rare feeling you get when you pick up your bass and everything is perfect, and then the next day it's god awful, it's that basically almost every day now and has been for the last 2 months specifically, just without the horrible next day. And my GAS has seemingly dissapeared.

    Withdrawn

Kev why don't you try tuning down a full step, it will loosen up the strings a bit and should make it easier on your left hand and you should also find digging in comes alot more easily, or simply tune down half a step and see if that makes any difference first, just a friendly suggestion man .

  8.
Taking a day off at the pool in 30 degree Key West and plugged into my iPod. Bought a clutch of Mastercuts Funk albums with me and, apart from being great poolside music, there's some really cool bass grooves going on. Brass Construction, Ohio Players, Brothers Johnson, Kool, Dazz, Eddie Harris, Donnie Hathaway, Teena Marie etc, etc. Just waiting for the bar to open and my day will be perfect Although all this bass heavy stuff is making me miss having a bass around to play along
Ohhhhh go and have a long blast on your Roscoe Barrie, you know you want to
  9. Also Ari is a great person to deal with so please buy with confidence, and when he says "In Mint Condition" he damn well means it .

    ari - feedback

I just recently bought Ari's 635 from him, for a knockout price and is in absolute MINT condition, as is the case, and he also generously supplied some new MTD strings as well, also he gave me the tracking number and was very prompt with his PM's. I honestly recommend him to everyone. Thanks Again Ari!

    Dubs Feedback.

Recently sold Ben my Streamer Stage II, and it went even better than a night alone with some lubricant and Underworld Evolution on the 40'. Thanks Ben!
  12. I'm not doing too badly, I've got about £5000+ worth between 2 basses.
  13.
1/16"? They're always 1/16" Don't buy from B&Q, they are sh*te.
Ah well I just need one for 2 little adjustments, if they break at least I know they're easy to get ahold of.
  14.
hi Josh, here's what Mr Tobias told me... From a quick google it looks like .050 is an imperial allen key (1.27mm) I imagine your bass will be the same. Cheers Gwilym
Thanks for that Gwilym .
  15. Hey All, In the middle of making 2 little adjustments to my MTD's, the C string needs to come down a little and the B string on my 535 needs to go up a little, but a 1.5 Allen key dosen't fit either, just wondering if you know what size they need to be and where to get them from? Thanks, Josh.

    MTD 635
If you decide to sell that at any time, then please let me know, I'd love a 6 string MTD.
Keep your eyes on this man: Danish 635. The price it's at now is how much Ari sold this one to me for.

    MTD 635
Nice, Josh! After the quantity you absolutely raved about the 5-stringer I knew you'd be hooked and getting another one! Is this your first sixer? I love my Yamaha TRB-6 & wouldn't be without it for certain jobs
I had a little widdle on the 535 after a long go on the 635, it feels even easier now. I've borrowed a Dean Edge 6 string for a short while at leat 2 years ago and I got along with it, but that was for the novelty of tapping and shredding, but I really like the feel of it, yeah of course slapping is a little strange still but I'll be fine in a few days, and the tone is just amazing. It's different to the 535, but they both have a hi-fi snappy sound to them, both warm and growly, the 635 has almsot a P-Bass thump to it but with oh so much more tone surrounding it.

    MTD 635

I just took delivery of this beaut from Ari: What we've got here is a MTD USA 635, an Ash body with a lovely figured Walnut Burl top, and an Ash neck with a Maple fingerboard. I've got it tuned a full step down and it as expected, just plays itself. A few new pics of my 535:
  19. I like the look of the second one but the headstock design really puts me off, it just reminds me of beginner level bass headstocks.
  20. +1 to what Volume said, Lee really is a great guy to deal with, he loves what he's doing and is just such a legend to talk to, even if your not buying anything .

I've got Death Magentic on again for the 14th time already.
  22. 635: Pure Andrew Gouche.
  23.
Hey dudes - thanks for all the positive comments - I can't believe how excited I am about this bass. I've always wanted a Jazz bass but never found one I really loved - and that was my concern in that I could spend as much time finding a vintage one and pay just as much money as commissioning one from Martin - who I know will make it the way I want it - hence 24 frets and a cool contemporary design... I got one very rough pic of the top wood - this is for a new Series II Single Cut that someone has ordered - so apologies for the poor quality but this will look simply stunning when it's all shiny and finished: Anyway - the wait begins... I shall keep you posted Mike
That looks like a Pirates treasure map
  24.
they have a nice little selection of musicmans, from what i remember they had the bongo HH, stingray 2eq, stingray 3eq, stingray 5 H, stingray 4 HH. i tried the 3eq stingray about a month back, the red/black one, and it was sh*te tbh, although it could have been the ashdown amp... i dont remember soundcontrol ever having lots of different types, although they did have a few warwicks and spectors
Well I was quite dissapointed with the selection so thats why I thought "Ahhh f**k it, I'll try that jazz", and for the price it's going at I would sincerely tell anybody to avoid it. Bad thing is, the Musicmans always look they should sound good but look lifeless, unfrotunatley from trying them they sound as dull as they look, that was quite a let down.
  25. I saw it in there the other day as well Kev, I was tempted to try one again but I thought I'd try a mex Reissue Jazz, the black one with block inlays, and it was f**cking awful, dare I say it, the USA P Bass my friend was banging out Blink 182 songs on sounded alot better, and played better, I still wouldn't have on if it were thrown at me. Compared to when I last went there, bass wise it was packed with all of them, and now all there is is a wall of Musicmans and a bigger wall of Fenders, and then a left handed Corvette FNA and a left handed Spector rebop, and some odd ones on the 2 pillars.
