Hmmm, to put a tort pick guard on my cream 425...
Could be fun.

Julia making this sound pretty cool.
And now I want one. Bother.

Probably less so now and everything is so standardised by CNC machines but there will be higher quality materials etc used between series hence the price difference.

I got one of the 5 string versions at Deko pricing (about £75) when I wanted to see if I liked 5 strings after not having one for years. It was brilliant and only replaced as a Sub 5er came up at a stupid price.
Only thing is the bridge is really far up the body so its a big bass.

I'm intrigued by this style of learning but failed in finding out how much the $50 off the annual subscription actually equates to. If a member doesn't mind disclosing, how much is the annual subscriptions as it stands?

Hmmm that's nice! Interesting to see them putting more premium features in this range.
Will be interesting to see how these go, the appeal of these seems to be the low price and how well they do for that price.

Every time I used the switch Ken phoned me up and had a go. He MADE me sell it
Cant argue with that level of customer service 😅

I don't think there is any bass, inexpensive or otherwise, that really sounds like them.
Ah the answer I was afraid of! But it does make sense as to why they are so revered.

I just watched this video and that sounds killer and must be nice to get a wee shout out @ped.
So for those of us who can't afford a Smith, how do I get close to that tone? He made that sound killer!

Here to advocate La Bella White Nylons. I've got the Copper which are quite warm but the White are brighter, bonus is no finger noise and they come in standard and medium scale.

Love that! (Except the bridge thing) almost exactly like the Joe Dart signature model if you're a fan of Vulfpeck etc.

Too many projects......
Well if you want to pretty much finish one then pass it on to me to finish that would be great 😁
These look great and with Mayones etc making tiny basses there is obviously desire for them (mostly from me)

Nice haul for one week!
Have to say if there's one trade deal I'd like the government to sort out it would be free imports from Japan.
Everytime I'm looking for a bass on eBay there's an abundance of them in Japan in cooler/rare finishes 😅

There's always someone home at the moment...…..
Hmmm, slight oversight on the burglary plan @TheGreek 😂
That looks great and is exactly what I imagine when I want a wee bass next to me on the sofa.

Jeez, if everyone here had that sort of bass gear as their starting point! 😂
Very nice, enjoy!

On the issue of weight. It would have been really cool to see EB release a short scale Sterling.
The shortie seems to be very decent by all accounts but the shrunk body looks a bit weird, granted I haven't seen it in the wood yet!
-
That was exactly my point.
Similar to the issue with the custom basses from BITE guitars, why mess with headstocks? I reckon most people would deal with a quirky design/twist to the body and a more reserved headstock design.
-
Schecter seem to be making the right moves with some of their vintage inspired model and this is close, but the headstock. Yeesh.
Not the worst but since they have far more standard looking headstocks in their arsenal it just looks odd.

Hi @mikebass456
Looks like a lovely build but maybe start another topic of your own? Save it getting missed by others who might be interested!

Interestingly (or not, YMMV) some weeks ago I was idly looking at websites for a couple of my local guitar shops and came a across what was described as a new SB14. It still had the sticker on the pickguard and was being offered at a price that would be rude to refuse. I've owned a couple in the distant past and have a soft spot for them. Needless to say I relieved them of the burden of ownership
The best I could get out of them was "we've had it for a while". Anyway it turned out to be immaculate, beautifully set up and a little under 9lbs to boot. Not a fan of the pearlescent white scartchplate so that might get sprayed black if I get bored.
Gratuitous SB14 pic:
Very nice find! Going to keep an eye out for one of those in the near future.

Further to this - since the 425 doesn't have a pickguard, any 425x or 1025x owners able to help with measurements etc?
Ta!
