Already another thread to avoid cross posting!

And there's me thinking, I'm happy with my 4 string basses just now.
Oh how naïve 😅
EDIT: A very solid colour selection which is nice to see!
-
While the headstock is debatable, don't see much wrong with that.
No one else around the £1000 is offering it so....😅
-
That looks cool! I can see what @LukeFRC means too.

I had a pickup in a old bass that had foam that had melted or broken down over time and became pretty solidly stuck. I just levered it out slowly with a screwdriver/kitchen knife over a few attempts as to not just rip it out. Could be something similar here.

I'll admit - I have no clue who B&G are but this bass looks quite nice if semi-hollow is your thing.
The reason I'm sharing as I think the launch/demo video is quite novel - get 3 bass players to all jam using the same bass to give a pretty good idea how it sounds in different players hands. Quite a nice wee jam it is too.

If someone or the OP wants a good bass - £475 will get you one!

I definitely think a Sandberg is on my shopping list.
Would love a soft aged VM 😁

Fair enough, to each their own 😁

Nice, in those photos it looks similar in colour to the Betsy.
Reckon I would go for the Sire over the Betsy purely on the reputation alone.

Nudge, there's a 1024 for sale....

I actually like that. I imagine over time it will become less bling as you wear through to the red underneath.
-
Thanks for that @Mudpup
I'm coming round to pink/purple basses so one of these could be on the list.
Could you rock the Sire without a pickguard, as in is the routing round the neck pickup neat enough to get away with it?
-
Seems a very solid review of this bass.
Would like to see it next to the Sire in the similar colour and just to see how it stacks up. Always good to have choice around the £500 mark

Glad you're happier with your bass now. But rather than it being a VT VT vs VVT issue, could it have been a capacitor issue in the VT VT and the KioGon loom just had capacitors which suit your sound more? Just a thought 😊

Yeah signature model was the wrong term, custom one off is more accurate!
-
So...the Miki signature model is basically the same as the newest Flea signature model but in the BB Shape. Interesting.

This is my favourite non-Jazz Jazz derivative. A touch marmite, possibly.
If you're new to these, Yamaha SBV500 from about 2000, a reissue of the '60s SB "Flying Samurai" basses. Sounds like a Jazz on steroids, neck has J proportions and it balances a lot better than you'd expect on the strap. Not exactly for the shy & retiring though.
Ah, the bass I have owned twice and sold twice....stupidly.
Bloody great fun and as always, Yamaha quality. Might have to try and hunt one down.

Not mine but just spotted this on Bass Direct

I appreciate it is fixable but returns also give useful feedback for manufacturers on new products. I would hope it doesn't happen to others but at least if Ibanez are aware that it has happened they might be able to address it on the production line.
-
Oh wow.
Since it wasn't/can't be hung you can't account it to the weight there.
Remember when GAK said something about the QC of these basses....

Pretty solid customer service response there.
