2.
The "chick" in my avatar is a better dancer than the "chick" in yours...
yea but my chick will taste better on sunday, .. Dam dam , ok ..maybe not
 3.
Everyone loves a hat!
Pete, must admit i did have visions of you trying to explain why you bought a bass for £1M to the misses i did make me chuckle abit, just a bit tho my hat off to you ,
 4. I sent this to him... "You do realise dont you that you was using someone elses pictures and so people think its a con hence bidding it up of which you wont be paid but will get a huge ebay fees bill ?? my good advice would be to end the listing, reason due to error in the listing. then relist it with the real pics with an explination, this would save you alot of hass. i would do this as soon as today." His only reply was " thanks" indeed well done everyone. a future plan
 5.
Looks like me that will be winning it, what should I do? I'm thinking cash on collection only and if he refuses to allow it then Ebay will have to side with me as that's what it is listed as?
Pete dont worry about it, it was as has been said a duff listing with the wrong photos.. end of whats the worst he can do give you 1 bad feedback ? ebay have been told enough to pull it. I have also advised him to end the auction due to error in the listing, and relist it explaining the probs. if he is gen he would do this.
 6. Another way would be to do another listing with the same picture and heading with the information telling people its a con, i did this when i found out that the HK actor pa system i was going to bid on was owned by someone else selling on gumtree.
 7. I reported as well and i cant belive its still there ! £20,100.00 Feel the wrath of basschat you bum.
 8.
And a rare shot of me actually using it at a gig:
Wow, dont let prince see that, i could see him bee lining for it. and your pvc/leather pants
 9.
It gets worse,I just tried to put a million pound bid on it for you to make sure he can't get a sale, it won't let me bid as it says the Sellers account is related to mine! Trust me it ain't me
Good thinking the great thing about this is, if we bid it up to £1,000,000,00 he will then get the ebay fees on that , ( not that it would be paid but ebay would pay attention then !) its just a pity its not at the end of ebays collection month which would mean they would try and take it out of an account before the winner could pay,
 10. Agreed, the pickups and pre-amp would no doubt be hard to copy. even the control knobs are unique to wal, i dont think that was the point here im thinking it was ordered just for the look and shape, as a wal copy (body and neck) its pritty dam good, and a nice top prob not exact but still nice. Al bet it even plays and sound good in its own right.
 11.
Why is buying from the US "a bit of a lottery"? I've bought nearly all my rare instruments either from the US or Japan. It's pretty much the only way to guarantee getting what you want. If you limit yourself to waiting for something to turn up that's already been imported into your country then yes you are going to be in for a long wait.
You are right of course, and i have basses i have imported, the ones i have imported look newish and so more a safe bet, most of the L2kE's i have seen in the usa look WELL used, moded and tatty, with few exceptions, I have been stung before hence i see it as a bit of a lottery, If i find one in the uk i really want i will always go and collect it myself. and look it over, when that luxury is taken away then chance comes into play. But as you say, sometimes its the only way, Niceguyhomer, that bass looks great and so fresh. never seen one of them before now.
 12. I say wal copy but if thats what someone has ordered then fair enough. Im not trying to take anything away from Dolmen here, in fact credit and respect to Pat. Dolmen/ pat have made stunning basses and guitars. This included, and if i had the spare cash i would love one of his 6 string fretless. Adverts ie get some very nice stuff on there, its just a pain contacting the owner without going public. 13.
I was going to bid on that, untilni noticed that the seller had listed another one using the exact same details and photos - seemed a bit odd to me
Seems gen, he has been back to me the buyer has paid and its being collected tomorow,
I think nowadays if you are prepared to spend the time looking in the right places and be patient, pretty much anything will eventually turn up for sale. I believe that almost nothing is rare that it will never turn up.
But its the painfull waitin game i hate, i have a wanted ad on here into its 4th year i renew it now and again, and also i do look around the uk, even got andy baxter keeping an eye out, i have only ever seen 2 for sale in the uk, i know there is an early natural one in Ireland, i missed it by days when it went up for sale on "adverts ie" http://www.adverts.ie/ about 2 years ago, seems the only choise is to get one in from the usa, which means its abit of a lottery , one will turn up. "eventually"
 14. Thats it now martin, watch your bridges burn, no return mate,
 15.
You just missed one for sale in Middlesborough yesterday http://www.ebay.co.u...=item258156c241
Well thats just F*&£!n amazin in it ?? 16.
my Leo era G&L family: '81 maple-ebony L1000, '81 hog-ebony L2000e FL, and '83 passive maple-rosewood EL Toro.
Hi again, very nice basses you have, has the EL TORO ex the same body as the L series ?? would an L series neck fit into the neck pocket of an EL Toro?
 17. i am sure once you start getting into 60 and 70s basses there must be a fair few rare ones in the uk, but what about 80 90 2000 ones ?? by the big manufacturers ( mass produced) future classics ? i can think of a few but the one i am going to start the topic off with i feel is one of the rarest in the uk. and according to " doudoubass" only 3 seen in france as well. is a GL L2000E ( series E) i have only ever seen no more than 5 in the uk ( are there any more??) henry thomas still uses one as his main bass now ( has for years) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGbIoii9A-4 I also remember in the 80s my friend had a fantastic ibanez mc924 ebony unlined fretless, he would not sell it, and could i get one, christ i looked everywhere i just gave up in the end and got my MM. but did not sound as good, So what else did you lust after and could not find?
 18. Some songs we play in my funk band, i really like .. I love the mad big band type jazz ending on this version of "some cow funk", by buckshot lefonque the cd version is more straight. The simplicity of groove was never more shown better than eddie harris. do ya like trains ???
 19. Henry is a great under rated player. That G&L 2000E He uses is the bass i always wanted, its a very early 2000E, i did try and get some info from him about a year or two ago by sending him a message via his site, never got a reply so dont think he uses it as its not been updated at all, some live footage of him with paul weller here. 20.
Could be something to do with them being lifeless planks ;-) Actually, I think they sound dire BUT do work well in certain band contexts where 'cut' is required.
101% I had a 70s one had it for 3 weeks, Hated it i named it the "fart machine", i had then (still have it) a £180 mex jazz that blows it away, so used that and got rid of the fart machine. if you play hard as i do with fingers, aka rocco prestia, it was utterly usless. all it did was make the cab sound like the speakers were farting (hence) and the pickup cover was right where i played and just in the way all the time, and so made it difficult to mute with the palm. must be the most unfunkable bass on the planet, again "contexts"
 21.
I remember this from a while back: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1991120 Love that Bongo tone
Bugger, sorry i must of missed that, i did not like the bongo at all with the fingers it almost sounded compressed, not open enough. poss an EQ thing?
 22. Check out also henry with paul weller shows how fat and heavy an L2000E can get http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rphe8UanAaY living colour L2000E demo
 23. Some L2000E Clips ( tho are as rare !) Curtis Robertson Jr. on his ( nice bass solo) check out les McCann cd's if you like funk! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94TqHsLBDcM Henry Thomas bass solo. 24. Found this intresting. my cash over the counter is for the jazz. but could hear right away why duck dunn used a P.
 25.
For a basic record of a band, almost anything will do a half-decent job in a 'home movie' sense. But for any sort of demo/promo work I reckon you'd need to record the sound separately because most 'affordable' camcorders have pretty limited audio capability and 'auto-level' inputs can result in very poor results, especially if the music has a lot of dynamics. Video-wise, a big quality issue is their performance in low light conditions, although a noisy/grainy picture can sometime look good, again depending on the type of music. As for editing software, I'm a bit out of date these days but the biggest issue when I was more into such things was the emergence of HD video and the complications arising when trying to do really accurate cuts in time to music. it's complicated to explain why but it's all to do with the fact that HD video is so highly compressed that each 'frame' of video doesn't contain all the data for that frame and it relies on knowing some of the previous data, or a 'group of pictures' or GOP. DVDs (mpeg) use GOP compression but HD video need more compression so it uses longer GOPs. If you make a cut in the middle of a GOP the editing software has to do a lot of reprocessing of the video data and can reduce the video quality. Different video editing software handles long GOPs in different ways. Depends how finicky you are. Edit: Some background here: http://broadcastengi...-long-gop-video and some discussion here: http://www.djiguys.c...c.php?f=4&t=708
wow.... cheers, seems like a classic case of the further you dig into it the more complex it gets. something with a clean sharp pic would be good i can add noise, grane, effects later if needed. I have read that some with a hard disc is prone to glitching because of the vibrations loud music makes ??, sounds abit far fetched to me. Agreed, recording the sound separately seems to make more sence. But read about one with XLR inputs the Panasonic AC-90. and got all excited till i seen the price ! editing software looks alot more to it than i thought found some ideas here.... http://www.videomaker.com/forum/topic/need-a-camera-to-shoot-live-music-events
