About a year to two years ago you could still get a tascam msr 24 for about 600 700, It does seem tape is making a come back, as more and more people want a hybrid studio, just spotted this on ebay and yep their on the way up, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tascam-MSR-24-track-24-channel-reel-to-reel-analogue-recorder-/141611889932?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f8b9f50c#ht_274wt_975

Comon bill you can do it, its just software forgot to ask, the midifiles you are using, have you downloaded any of them from the net ? if so and are using them as part of your song then allsorts of probs can happen. i some times use midi drum pattons downloaded , and when i midi them out to my drum machine they keep resetting my drum machine everytime i pressed stop, this was down to the program changes in the midi file, which can be found by using the inspector of each midi file, to find the inspector click "help" then look in the A to Z for the inspector, it will give you more info it may help, sorry if all this sounds like gobbleflabblebobbingdom flubble fluff flancake

bilbo if you copy and paste the whole project 4 bars forward (to account a lead in of 4 bars) then save it as another name say (********* take 2) shut it down then open it again by right clicking on the track (open with.... cubase) does it still do it ? Or as a long winded trial can you save the files as seperate files, and the wavs as stem files, then open new project, then import your midi files one by one, trying each one as you do so to find the culprit, ( a poss program change ? check the inspector of each midi file) i had something the similar and found a program change hidden in the hihats of all things,
But what you are referring to here is 'sampling' which infringes upon the mechanical (now digital of course) sound recording done by someone else without paying for that use.
yea sorry should of made it more clear and quoted.... "It's melody and lyrics that hold copyright. No copyright on chord sequence or bassline or anything else." my point is that if wanted nothing is safe if someone wanted to take it, and they could infact copyright your Guitar or bass parts or in this case drums, off topic abit but a valid point.

it seems drum beats as well, i remember all the hass over the drum break in the Winstons song "Amen Brother" when it was sampled then became an iconic break " The Aman Break" used by just about everyone, then zero G, stating it was theirs and you have to pay to use it, a very intresting insight into the corp big wigs stealing your stuff and you not having enough money to fight it, found it... watch this, its worth it and really opens your eyes....
Play something we know. Hilarious.:/
this reminded me of a night someone shouted that at alexanders in chester watching a jaw dropping brill band. now for some reason i have it in my head as the hellcasters ! could be wrong. anyway someone shouted "Play something we know" and then some witty git shouted "or even just a chord we know" -
While reading this and looking at my cd collection my eyes dropped on all the Nils Landgren cds i have, nearly every one he has done, thinking about it one of the reasons is not just the great songs and outstanding playing by all, but the bass playing from both, Lars Danielsson and magnum coltrane price ( isn't that just the best name !) both capture great playing that sit well in the song without overdoing it, unless asked. I love listening to Lars Danielsson play he has so many great ideas they just flow out of him ( check out nils landgren's version of impressions, as well as his own stuff) and while magnum coltrane price is a different type of player, he is more from the school of on the 1 funk, i equally love his grooves as much. So while i would not ever underate the band i am surprised not many have heard of him or the bass players. so my vote goes to Nils Landgren's funk unit and players Lars Danielsson and magnum coltrane price. great playing guys. here ya go a random one of each,,, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2AyvrJlxzQ&index=1&list=PLyJSP1YmT5P7A5wCXWoakEvXNlz71gD1v https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQg7uLZwUSI

I sent an email asking if the one in the pic was the one for sale ( no point asking if its real !) and shipping details time, duty, how it would be packed this is their only reply below... Just looking at them if you look the sr number on the back of the head the one in the O/P is Z7030834 and the two he says he has for sale is Z7030833 and the Z7030835 with the sr number out of place which is the one i like. ( i bet the ink is still wet ) I think the two extra screws on the inner corners of the bridge is always a giveaway, I would be getting this for me not to sell on, just to try a 5 string again as i have been playing mainly 4 string for the past 30 odd years and it saves me taking an expensive bass out as a spare. if he comes a bit more open to my questions i think i may well take a punt. if i get it and eeerrr if i do get it !... i will do another review. Justin Ge: this bass sold out of store right now, but have similar model which have in store right now, these two models http://pt.aliexpress...2215370721.html and http://www.aliexpres...2215378416.html

"You know the deal - if it looks too good to be true - then it probably is!"
It looks, to me, like an eBay site concentrating on stores only - so I guess you're at the mercy of whichever store you buy from. Looking at the prices and the fact that the logos are mostly obscured, there do seem to be a high percentage of obvious forgeries. If it was me, I wouldn't be sending my money all the way to China on the off chance that a fake bass might be vaguely playable, if it actually turned up.
Agreed, this got my first alarm bell ringing, The second was my dads motto " if you buy cheap, you buy twice" But Just to test the water i wil send an email ( they may speak English) for some more info, keep yall posted.

just wondered if anyone has used ali express to buy basses ? seems to be loads of very cheap basses there for eg. I spotted a fender Jazz 5 string for $240 free shipping to the uk, hold on thats only £154.00 its even got made in the USA on the headstock, and a fender neck plate Now im guessing (not too hard) these are not legit, but even so as a back up... i am very tempted to try one. So... Has anyone used ali express to buy a bass, if so, what are your thoughts please ??, http://www.aliexpres...2215378368.html
I don't know about Simply Red, but Moloko's Mark Brydon used to play bass and may have played on their tracks. Fine Geordie lad there - always did like that band.
Good Shout, Mark Brydon... if you have not got the CD by Cloud Nine, "Millennium" then try it, all mark brydon songs and playing, here you go For 85p..
I think if you sound good, playing with passion etc then you can play pretty much anything in reason and younger people will enjoy it. Ok stay away from the overplayed stuff. But its good to have a mixture. , but then again people when drunk love a bit of cheese.
THIS 100% To everyone that is staying away from cheese, ....thank you,, its kept me in ALOT of work over the past 30 years Merry Xmas to Yall..

bass is fine dont worry about it, i like it, enjoy and move on, ,, unless you are trying to sound like someone . i do have a prob with the snare tho, did you want it sounding like the snare on the bottom was turned off ?? if not then my bit of advice is .. whenever you mic up the snare always mic the top and the bottom, at least you can mix in the amount of attack you need.

Great news in the end, but unfortunately rare GET YOUR VAN CAR TRACKED FOR £20... Sorry about the shout but hope it caught your attention..... If you look on Ebay for 20 quid or even less you can buy a pay as you go sim 24 hour tracking. simple. its like a mobile phone with out buttons. pay the £10 payas you go hide it on the van. then when ever you call it it will send a tx back right away giving you its location. you can even track its route and follow it. or give the info to the police. look on ebay for gps sim tracker. you can use it for other things also..mmmmmmmm my bit of good advice..... no matter what alarm you have, take the fuel pump fuse out ! simple or for the more adapt of you put an inline hidden switch in. it may be enough.

all these makes are good, as well as VTG, evolution, ref labs, and good old whirlwind. and for live and studio i have some of each, but i have been well impressed with the livewires i have all of the PROEL livewire leads i have ever got i have not had one go gown ! i only now buy livewire, sound great, thick, does not leave twists inside, no taxies, great value, lifetime guarantee. im not sure where they are made now but all my old ones were made in Italy, and i still have the same 10 from when i got them years ago, i have loads of the newer ones from 1m to 30m as sold in the yellow packets, and for the cash i cant fault them. now i did get a few from ebay !!! and when you rub your nail over the print on the cable it comes off !! so sent them back. The jack plugs or the XLRs are not neutrik but are still good, certainly on cheaper leads you need the carefull with XLR esp female as the copper/brass grip inside that connects the male pin once used a few times can splay open leaving a baggy fit and so crackling or even o/s. the ones i have on the proel's are still good after all this time, Very impressed with the VTG i have and the ref labs cable, info here...
