  1. No worries - if the fan is still too loud and you want to revisit at a later date, check this link - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=3d+printer+12v+fan - similar concept with some more detailed help.
  2. Meanwhile, the people who obsess about the details of their basses wonder why others can play them under the table. Hint - they were playing instead of obsessing about stuff that on the whole, doesn't really matter.
  3. Here's a nice write up that should help you - http://www.reuk.co.uk/wordpress/storage/24v-12v-dc-dc-converter/
  4. Been thinking about this again and did some searching - https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm2596.pdf?HQS=TI-null-null-mousermode-df-pf-null-wwe&ts=1596104226259&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mouser.co.uk%2F This would give you a fairly efficient step down to 12v so you can open yourself up to more common, quieter, computer fans. Or you can go with a linear regulator as I mentioned earlier.
  5. Oh... and clay dots sound better.
  6. Here's the thing. You don't know what a bass sounds like til it's built in it's entirety. As soon as you add in electrics, the material type is even of less importance. Like most things that people become obsessive about, it's all boils down to hoodoo.
  7. Totally. Enough volume of air being moved, job done. Reports of this amp being quiet is somewhat... staggering.
  8. If it's lacking in volume, its more down to the fact that you weren't running it with a 2 ohm load. These things kick out some serious stink!
  9. You said fan size was 60mm?
  10. The things people do to divert attention from the fact the hooks in the roof are for a sex swing.
  11. Splice and heatshrink will be easier than a connector change (that’s if the connector doesn’t fit)
  12. There will be a positive and negative - the other will be a controller cable. Ignore that one. It may be nice to put a switch on the fan and mount it external - a recording mode and gig mode.
  13. Id be tempted to use a voltage regulator to your drop from 24v to 12v. Then you are into the realms of more standard fans. Finding something that will cope with 28-30cfm could be quite trouble some from a fan of that size. Im wondering if there's enough room in the case to mod have multiple fans... hmm.
  14. 24v is always a pain in the bum as the mass market for silent fans is always 12v (for computer market).
  15. What fan is in there? Size, spec? Name?
  16. OK - in a gig environment, I reckon the real world difference would be minimal, especially when considering the average punters ears.. and especially if the things are being deployed with subs. But I concur, the 745s seem to go a bit deeper but at the expense of tightness (this would be a null point with subs I suspect). The top end is a bit more fizzy. The midrange is a little thinner on the 745, compared to the warmer, thicker midrange in the NX. I think the NX is a better sounding cab - although those that are used to a more hyped top end and a hankering for cut mids, I suspect will prefer the 745s. Yes, I like the NX - but probably not enough to actually change. Mind you, I'd have to listen to them in person before making such a decision... but given the fact that I haven't left the house in 4 months, I don't think I'll be using any PA equipment any time soon.
  17. ... I'll give it a proper listen in a bit...but I find the YT comments underneath interesting!
  18. Yup, with those capacitors that would dry out and become noisy, crappy pots etc... but it's all about "the sound" man.
  19. You can't put a price on nostalgia. Or something like that.
  20. If you gonna diss the list, at least make your diss accurate. Stevie Wonder 10 Randy Newman 25
  21. Saw who was at 100 and thought, well, if they are at that low spot, then this list is utter drivel. Lazy journalism. Lists. So lazy.
  22. Just to clarify. 735, 745. Not anything else. The key numbers are the leading 7, the 3 or 4 and the trailing 5. Not that I'm an authority on the subject - but they are the only two cabs I would want to entertain... and both are proven.
  23. "I am the eggman, they are the eggmen, I am the walrus" Right, where do we start with this one....
