1. I'd say it's probably polyester on the body. In which case, very fine grit wet and dry (sand wet using washing up liquid as a lubricant) should be enough to take the shine off. Dont see why you'd need nitro?
2. Liking the inclusion on the midrange eq.
3. http://www.bestbassgear.com/knobs.htm - Large - $9.75 Small - $9.00 Concentric - $18.50 with free shipping to the UK.

6. The nut on one of my GBs is nickel (same as frets) - although that was done for cosmetic reasons above anything else. Does it make a difference? I'm not sure. A well cut nut as stated above is the most important... although the bass with the nickel nut does seem to sustain for a lifetime.

8. I'm sure I've posted these up before. Hang on. Just searching...
9. Larry tends to do it at all his gigs... he breaks into a jam and anybody who "wants some" can queue up in hope that they make it up the stairs to the stage.
10. PS - your sax player did himself proud.
11. Generally the people that get up are pretty good - you don't put yourself forward to be shamed in front of what is usually a muso heavy crowd. I for one, thought the cocky guitarist made a right prick of himself...
12. Aurora project will do it - just send your existing plate. I don't think they even charge extra above their standard guard cost.
13. Digging the side parting on the keys player right now....
14. Love the cleaness of the inline Spitfire controls. Mmm...
15. 3 auxs and small is pretty tricky but this comes to mind - 3 useful aux (2 pre, 1 post)
16. Seen these? http://www.fmw-guitars.de
17. "Yes Mr Wonder, all of your band are stick thin super models. Especially the bass player."
18. Interesting sales technique.
19. OK, here's a sight - 3 original Goodfellow Harlequins together... ...and a walnut example.
20. By Aquilina basses. Yum...
21.
Yeah, brasso wadding on a thin drill bit? Then down to carnuba wax on a rag. Will have a rummage online before starting.
Or a wooden dowel. Just enough to get some wet and dry round and then some microfibre. Work through the grades first and then start polishing.
22.
Trevor at PMT knows his onions
You think?
23.
Yeah, I think clear pickguard is the way I'll go. Was looking at different cleaning materials, and methods, not really sure what cleaner to use, wondering if carnuba wax is enough. Will have a go over the weekend.
Canuba wax won't do it. You'll need something more abrasive than that, you'll probably want to find an offcut of acrylic to test on... but I would be looking at something as abrasive as brasso and then work with finer cutting compounds before giving it the final polish.
24.
I'm going to shine them up as much as I can, so it may be worth it. Still undecided on pickguard material yet (sparkly or not) so I suppose that will be a deciding factor.
Shining up the routes is an easier than you think task. Long drill bits are your friend... just don't use them for their drilling properties. Perspex pickguard. Has to be done.
