1. Heft, from what I can gather, appears to be a term that is used to describe the TC or B&O power modules perceived lack of punch.
 2. I know this is a morbid thought, but if Jools was to snuff it, what other gigs are these guys doing? I know DS was doing something with that guy off Pointless - but what else keeps these guys busy?
 3. It's just an intrigue really - I've got more PA stuff than you can shake a stick at!
 4. Class D isn't the problem. You check out modern PAs and you'll find a great majority running racks of class D amps. The problem lies with which class D amps are being used in these lightweight heads. These heads have to be made to a budget - and in order to compete with the competition, they can't be running lab gruppen or powersoft amps. It's a compromise - and for most - the lure of a lightweight, affordable, giggable bass amp wins out.
 5. And the question we all want to ask...what about monitors?
 6.
Very loud rock covers band playing mainly pubs and clubs but with quite a few outdoor/marquee type gigs at beer festivals, biker do's etc. All Peavey apart from the desk which is Yamaha. A pair of 4ohm UL215S bass bins on the bottom powered by a Peavey 2600 and then 2 pairs of 4ohm UL15 cabs for the tops powered by another 2600. Used mainly for vocals and fully mic'd kit bit with the option to put bass and guitars through it when needed.
That'll shift a bit of air! The tops - you are running the amp the tops in series I presume?
 7. Pavel makes some awesome basses - boutique and big on the gospel scene over in the states. Not so common over here but they are impressive instruments. Pavel is very approachable on Facebook and there's a few great clips on YouTube so you can get an understanding what they are about. And I want his sc jazz so bad.
 8.
Sounds fishy to me.
What are you angling for?
 9.
Of course - he's the one we hire it from!
What did he say? It's whatever you want it to be?
 10.
We use a Realistic 125 watt PA, we are a drum and bass band and get lots of positive comments on our sound, that said we hire in six D and B monitors for most gigs.
Those Realistic watts are so much more powerful than those standard watts. Man, I bet playin with those D and B monitors is an absolute dream. Drum and Bass you say? There's this great pub I reckon you should play at.
 11.
There's really two approaches to PA assuming we are loosely talking about some sort of rock band rather than something less noisy. The simplest approach which works well for smallish venues is a PA which deals mainly with vocals. The other approach is a fully mixed system where the sound the audience hear is all coming through the PA. This has lots of advantages but not simplicity portabiLity or cost. Effectively it means the PA has to be louder than all the stage amps put together and have all their capabilities. As a bassist this means that the PA must handle all your bass just as well as your bass stack plus all the bass from drums etc. Your bass stack becomes an on stage monitor for you and the band. Step up to a touring rig and you might even do away with the bass amp and have all your monitoring through in ears or a floor monitor. So, PA support doesn't realy have a technical status but would normally mean that the PA can safely provide all the bass you would want to throw at it. It has big speakers or more usually bass bins and plenty of headroom. that means you can take your smaller amp as you won't have to fill the room with bass on your own. In practice I'd always check each time to see what they mean though and I always take my own bass gear unless I know and trust the system and the engineer. One bad experience where the sound engineer cut my monitor mid gig and another where they had a noise gate which cut the first second of every bass entry would make me very reluctant to play without any monitor of my own. I hope this was the question you wanted answering
No, I'm up to speed on the above - I'm more interested in the makes and models that people are actually using when they say they are playing with PA support.
 12. Some wheels will rattle horrendously when the cabs are in use - so it's easier just remove them.
 13.
I couldn't give a monkey's if they put Jools on the cover. I know who Dave Swift is, but I don't know who half the other players interviewed in this month's edition are, regardless of what bands they're in.
That's because they aren't pictured with their band mates. Clue : one of them is a luthier.
 14.
I think I'm right in saying that two drivers with a combined load of 4 ohms will be louder than a single driver of 4 ohms because you're moving twice as much air; so don't expect the new 600W speaker to give you the volume increase you'd hear with an extension cab.
If the speakers are identical and receiving the same power as the single speaker.
 15.
He's on the Beeb every week, seems like appeal to me!
So is David Cameron.
 16. Has Jools got that sort of level of appeal?
 17. Smart looking rig. I always wanted one of those dinky F1s.
 18.
Wasn't just Dave on the front of the magazine not so long ago? I seem to recall a picture posted somewhere, sometime...?
19.
There could well be something to this, yellow, blue, red; maybe the psycho acoustic aspects of the brains interpretation of sound are more affected by unconscious prejudices over aesthetics or expectations than we think. I'm sure that lots of research has been completed on football teams coloured strips and politicians ties etc, maybe these principles cross over into this area too?
Tongue in cheek methinks! :-p Although the Markbass owl look puts me right off!
 20. The question I'm gonna ask is why you are changing it? It won't give you any significant difference in volume and if the TS parameters of the replacement speaker is different, you could end up with a less than ideal sounding cab. If you like your tone and just want more volume, add another speaker cab. To answer your question, the amp doesn't care what the load is as long as it isn't less than 4 ohms. So you could achieve that by typically one four ohm speaker or two eight ohm speakers in parallel. (Or one four ohm cab and two eight ohm cabs in parallel - as cabs may contain multiple speakers)
 21. I'd personally look at getting the cheapest lightest bass you can for the time being. Any excess weight at all is not what you need right now.
 22.
Scenario #1 - Just Dave Swift on the cover: 95% of bass players: 'Who's that bloke on the cover of BGM?'
Wasn't just Dave on the front of the magazine not so long ago? I seem to recall a picture posted somewhere, sometime...?
 23.
OK... 99%.
:-D
 24. No - I mean what sort of PAs are people putting their bass through... eg which tops/mids/subs
