1. Had lots of basses but settled on a bitsa jazz and a CIJ '62 fretless. The CIJ quality as far as I'm concerned is at least as good as the USA stuff
2. Is this the bass 'http://basschat.co.u...__1#entry836934' ? If so what a bargin!! If not PM me and I'll remove post asap as I wouldn't want to get anybodies hope up if it wasn't!!. The additions you've put on with the posted price are fantastic, I'm trying to stop myself!! have Bump on me!
3. Bump for a super cool bass, following on from the dating thing I've just been fettling a friends jazz today, the neck plate dates it as a 1973 and it has all the same features as yours, 4 bolt neck, no skunk stripe, trussrod adjustment at heel, rosewood board with blocks and binding, 4 inch pickup spacing etc. It's a cracking bass , so is yours but unfortunately as usual shame I don't have the readies to spare!!
4. Just bought a fender loaded VVT control plate off Nick, easy deal and wouldn't hesitate to deal again, Cheers.
5. No excuse necessary for the playing, sounded alright to me . Have a Jaco bump on me!
6. Well if you did want a better one the Gotoh 203 B can be found online for £25 posted, just wack it into goggle. I've got them on both my jazzes now.
7. Second dibs on the Sansamp if it falls through please!
8. I've recently had some lessons with Pete, very good player and teacher so recommended. I think he'll also be a bit nearer and easier to get to from Halifax. I used to drive from Huddersfield and it took me about 50 mins, so for you an educated guess would be 30 mins tops
9. Yup, another CIJ Fender Jazz. You can buy a Japanese '75 Re Issue Jazz and pop in a preamp of some description. I always try and buy second hand and have had 2 CIJ jazzes, a USA Jazz and a bitsa. The CIJ ones IMHO were manufactured to a higher standard than the USA one and I've seen new MIM ones with neck pocked gaps in that are unacceptable! If I could I'd always go for CIJ or MIJ ones, great bang for your buck
10. I've managed to an extent to steam out a small gouge, always try it (soldering iron ontop of a damp cloth, hold on for 15 secs then have a peek, repeat as required). Only thing I found is that the colour of the steamed area was left a bit lighter. However I do understand about the uncompressing compressed wood bit!
11. Just sold my CIJ '62 RI Jazz to Derrick, nice guy, good comms and personally came to collect. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with again, recommended BC'er
12. Ah, just read this post, Huddersfield Christian Fellowship!
13. Lovely stuff, hope it goes to a good owner
14. Just sold my 75 RI Jazz to Sam, nice bloke to have a chat with, recommended BC'er, Peace.
15. If only they were chrome! These tuners are much nicer than the Fender Vintage ones and are worth the money, 3 out of 4 of my jazzes have these on them so have a bump on me.
