On these bridges the strings can just be pushed along the bar. I'd give it a scrub and leave that bridge. (Says the man with the same bridge that's in a similar state)

I've got a 1978 music master. It was my first bass in 1995. I sanded it in 1997, and never finished it until 2018. The respray job I did in nitro was poor and I chipped it within a week. I do wish I'd just kept it as dented and chipped as it was when it came to me. The original pickup sounds good to my ears. Maybe give yours a proper try when it arrives. The tuners has seen better days so mine has recent hipshot tuners.

Mudpup Might just have been phone footage, but that was a storming performance from your band ππ

That is a grim thought that will haunt me forever. Along with my mum saying it took me a year and a half to sleep though the night- which is when my sister was conceived π±

I was born in 1979. My first bass was Β£100 in 1994. It was an absolutely knackered 1978 Fender music master. It was the best part of a year's pocket money. My (double) bass teacher was absolutely horrified by it. Cracked paint, nicotine stained, faded paint in places, wear, divots in the frets, short scale. The antithesis of orchestral double bass playing. I've still got it. It's a year out from a birth year so close enough for me. I sanded all the paint and most of the divots in the body in the late 1990's. I couldn't get through the sanding sealer (insufficient elbow grease in hind sight), so it remained partially sanded for ages. After I discovered people will pay more for a relic guitar I realised I'd sanded 1/2 the value of the instrument off. I did a better job of sanding in a few years back and re sprayed it in nitro. Looks fine from a meter, but it's not factory finish. It could probably do with new frets now but two wee kids and I've not played bass for ages.

Only 6 strings? I thought with your love of multi scale basses any guitar you would have would be 8 string+ π It looks lovely! Is it new? Iβve seen lots of prs that are 10 years old and still immaculate! -

Thanks! π @ezbass that looks like mines twin! @police squad Iβve not seen that list of the spec before. How did you find it? Iβve got a Harley Benton copy of the 24 fret custom. The actual prs is much lighter. Must be the light weight mahogany. -

I got out bid on an s2 Mira. Iβm pretty sure that would also have been the answer to my what guitar question π There was a bid 1 second after the auction ended that out bid me. I guess it was a sniper programs. -

In the end I went for a PRS. I went to a shop in 2004, saw a display of them thought they looked cool at Β£300 odd, looked a bit closer and saw the price tag was Β£3000 odd. So that and some money I inherited from my grandma have got me exactly what I wanted. Fixed bridge, flame top and birds π. Iβd have preferred one with some damage and wear, for less, but this one looked the best. 10 years old and not a mark on it. I very much doubt it will look like that after 10 years in my clumsy ownership π On itβs own the guitar isnβt going to make me any better so Iβve got some lessons starting Monday. If I bought a prs se, s2 or a ce iβd Probably end up with a nagging feeling of doubt- is this the right one, should I have bought... No doubt, no buyers remorse, no GAS and a beautiful instrument to get on with improving on. Thanks for all the suggestions and tips, especially that purple prs pic- helped me to decide that I should just go for what I wanted π -

Thanks for all the advise! Iβm supposed to be picking up my new guitar tomorrow. I say supposed as the seller still has it advertised on eBay for more than our agreed price. So hopefully a new guitar day tomorrow π If not Iβm going to wait until the music shops are open again and play some in my local pmt. Its that or start going mad by looking at too many options on eBay π -
