You really do need to experience it. With both sets of pups hammering away you can get some truly monstrous tones while still retaining excellent heft and definition. My Hayman just sounds massive. Eeeh, men were men back in the 70s, I tells ya.

There are bids on it now, so the BIN has gone - it's at £113. 6 days to go, so... I'm guessing he'll get at least his BIN price for it.

I'd agree, I bought a Harley Benton Stratocaster for £56 just for basic guitar noodling and recording at home (fully expecting it to be crap), and it's very playable, easy to set up, low action, stays in tune and sounds just like a Stratocaster. I was surprised and delighted. It's not going anywhere and I'll never get tempted to move it on because it's not worth anything!

I have a 76 P which I love deeply, but I still have GAS for a pre-CBS P. One day I will buy one, but I don't want to bust my ass doing it. Next time I have a chunk of disposable it'll certainly be on the cards, but if I'm going to do it at all, I'd like a 1960 P which is going to be a little pricier than a 63, but there it is. Yes, given the price of the BDI-21 and the fact it has a DI out, it's a no-brainer to keep one in your gigbag as back up regardless of what pedal/pre/amp combination you use.
