1. I think its just the added compressor - which I can never decide if I like or not. I guess they may have changed some of the other bits under the hood to - but nothing obvious.
2. Clever and breathtakingly tight as I'm sure it is - I think it sounds utter sh*te. I'll get my coat.
3. It was - purely and simply - having to work that killed it for me. Being in a (small-ish) signed band with label and frequent tour commitments was completely incompatible with 9-5. I don't think anyone looked at a map when booking the tours, so I'd normally have to grab a few hours kip in the van before fetching up for work. None of the other guys worked full time, so there was a lot of pressure on me to feign illness (or other creative excuse for not turning up). The job went pearshaped on account of attendance record and dishevelled appearance, but the music didn't cover the bills either and imploded soon after. Bugger. There's no way I could manage now with family too - not unless it was a proper pro outfit with enough dosh to pay decent retainer. I doubt there's many opportunities like that! So its hobby bands all the way for me these days - yet still there's always someone in the band (usually with 6 strings and a marshall halfstack) who wants everyone else to jack their jobs in and make a go of it
4. Its like some kind of ghastly Dubai hotel edition. I'm disturbed to find myself quite liking it.
5. Too late for this then http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=ss&ID=271 "Sonic purity" so it says....
6. Another ABM fan here - I have seperates - I've found that ABM 500 + the 115 (on its own) isn't loud enough in noisy band settings. So I reckon you'd want an extension with that combo. Volume's never been an issue using an ABM 500+ ABM 410 (on its own) - which sounds much better than the 115 to my ears. But its a pain to cart it about, and the fullstack is a bit overkill. In hindsight I'd have gone for 2 x 210 - which is probably my next move.
7.
I agree - a 4-ohm 10" cab is pointless, but it could be a misprint. The new vinyl covering on the MiBass combos looks really swish, at least on the YouTube video.
Presumably its for the 220 head?
8.
Reckon they just appeared on the site today! I personally reckon they should've made the 1x10 an 8 Ohm cab too, as they're doing a 1x10 MiBass Combo, so that would've been a really nice modular setup. Apparently these cabs are gonna have a kinda carbon fibre looking "diamond tolex", and the 1x12 will be a taller vertical oriented cab, i.e. be designed to be up on it's end, the pics on there are the prototypes. Eude
Can't see the combo on their website yet - so maybe there's more to come!
9. There seem to be some mibass cabs now. I hadn't seen them before http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=mb They look good. quite like the look of the 4 ohm 110
10.
it actually is the mark king model, no difference , as mark king had moved onto tc electronics, they painted it black and stuck another signature on it
Better colour. Better signature. I'm shallow but it gets my vote
Things I liked were the smaller body with no top horn looks like a single cut eddie w@nkhalen type of body the lack of a top horn made it real comfortable but it need to be at least 2lb lighter as it is a ship anchor. Personally I preferred the Big Al which was a lot lighter, and with a very nice and resonant mahogany body.
I inadvertently clicked on the link and outlook tried to email w@nkhalen. Just thought I'd share that.
12. I love my stingray - especially from a playability point of view. And it sounds amazing in band or on its own. But I really struggle to get the right sound for recording. P bases seem to eq themselves - but I'm all over the shop with the ray. Perhaps that's just me.
13. ....fair point!! (applies to me also!)
14. Yeah, I'm unlucky enough to do lots of presentations at work. Usually I'm pretty good and well rehearsed (accepting the lame jokes and unfortunate appearance) but just occasionally it goes less well and doesn't flow like it should. I'd be gutted if I got slated for it on a forum.
15. PS Is a BTA "all valve?" I thought it was some sort of hybrid?
16. If it was all about light weight and convenience no one would have drummers. Go for it (and then post a review)
17. ...fair point. I guess I mean it wont be as good as a "proper" product film that is scripted and edited, and they can take their time over.
18. Yes it helps to be better prepared for these things. But someone shows up to the booth with a camera and tells you to talk for 5 minutes off the cuff - chances are its not going to be perfect.
19. Just sold my Sansamp BDDI to Ivan. Prompt payment and no hassle. Recommended.
20. Sold pending the usual God I love this forum. Now, what else can I sell?
21. For sale: SansAmp BDDI Programmable pedal. I guess you'll know what this is, so I'll spare you the sales pitch. :-) But for avoidance of doubt - this is the version with three memory channels to store your favourite settings. Manufacturers blurb here http://www.tech21nyc...assdriverp.html This unit is in full working order - no issues. A couple of very minor chips on the paintwork - but nothing significant. I've only used it a few times for home recording, but now preferring to DI straight from my amp. Includes instruction booklet (not that you'd need it!) Note: there is no box or power supply. Requires 9v battery or a standard 9v power supply (I've been using power supplies from other effects pedals ie zoom etc, and it works fine with those). £110 posted (within UK) Pic to follow
22.
Or 'Violent Shitness' as it's known in our house. You don't want to know what we call Waking The Dead.
Ha! has the same name in our house too.
