I have little fingers like you have no problems playing a wider neck and spanning frets. I think it's all down to technique and finger placement. Some players grip the neck in the palm of their hand and roll their thumb over the top edge (in the same way as as guitarist). If you use your thumb as an anchor on the back of the neck then you end up with a much better reach up and down the fretboard as well as being more comfortable with wider necks.
My DJ4 is superbly light to play and sounds a dream. A J retro further transfoms it. The weight is comparable to a P bass coming in at 9lb 5oz but the body size is a littel bit smaller than a standard Jazz. If you can get along to play Dave's then I'm sure we'd all be interested in your views. FWIW, it is the best contructed bass I have overall.

Even better idea, though from the looks of it the edits could take a while!
Yup, I've got a 610HLF and it has this bulb. The 410s have them too. Protection system I agree, but it doesn't half need some seriously bad EQing to get it to light.
The cloth comes on a roll and is sold per metre. It is 90cm wide so the minimum you can buy I would guess is 100cm x 90cm. If you buy between 1 and 4 metres you pay the highest price per metre, between 5 and 9, the middle price per metre and over 10 metres the lowest price per metre.
How much do you need? Well only you will know that given that it's your cabs you need the measurements of!! I would suggest you measure the grill you need to cover plus a couple of centimetres each side to allow for overlap.
That's strange - I find them pretty accomodating, just not very competitive. My guitarist has just spent a fortune on new amps with them so they do tend to like us a bit. I'm in four bands at the minute mate, the two busiest being
www.myspace.com/thebrackets and
www.burlesquerockband.com
I'll check your stuff out.
Cheers
Steve
Turning it on it's head slightly, would a wireless system for your bass work, allowing you to check out front exactly how you sound, or is the problem purely monitoring?
Steve
No - but then again it's the same whether you go to Peterborough or to Cambridge. To be fair, Live Music in Peterborough are a friendly bunch and will price match the internet prices if you are nice to them!
OK well S1 or no S1 (seeing as it's just a different pot and that's not going to alter the weight) Your USA Precision (USA being more relevant) will more than likely weigh in at between 9lbs and 9.5 lbs. If your Japanese feel lighter then I would suggest it's basswood. My japanese precisons of basswood are noticeably lighter than my american ones or alder or ash.
How much does it weigh? Basswood tends to be lighter in my experience. You can certainly tell the difference between a current Japanese Precision in basswood and one in alder.
Don't rule out fret wear either. It's at the extreme end of fault finding but can cause intonation problems (as can poor string seating on slotted saddles!)
