  3. Well I've decided I'm officially an old falling apart git now and my amp is too heavy and my back aches. Its a Hartke LH1000, I bought it last year for about £500 with RockBag rack thingy that was another £50 or so - Thomann are doing these amps for just over £400 now so [s]£325 ish for the two seems fair but as always feel free to make an offer... [/s]£275 Trades I'd be interested in a lightweight amp Genz, MarkBass, Orange Terror etc happy to add a bit of funds if needed - needs to be at least 500W into 4 ohms though. Amp itself sounds great and is bloody loud - I played a large hall last night with the volume on three! anyway here's the spec, the amp is in immaculate condition, the rock bag is fine but its missing a tag on one of the zips and its a little "previously enjoyed" but not overly so- Hartke LH-1000, Bass Head, 2x 500 Watts or 1x 1000 Watt, 12AX7 High Voltage Class-A tube preamp circuit, Bass and Treble Shelving, mid-peak EQ controls, brite switch, limiter switch with LED indicator, XLR balanced direct output, effects loop, Speakon and 1/4-inch output connectors, 19", 2 U, dimensions: 483mm x 369mm x 83mm, weight: 14,5 kg

  7. There is a guitar shop actually in Barbican but it's mainly for the school of music so concentrates on classical instruments and sheet music, they do sell the usual bits and bobs tho

Wilko was supporting Quo last night - brilliant gig all round, we were about 5 rows from the front right in front of Alan Lancaster and Mr Watt Roy - he was incredible, never seen anything like it, I was so close I could hear his back line (svt and ashdown abm 15s) - amazing mixture of spot on rhythm and chords, brilliant. He was playing a shoreline gold jazz ( of course) not sure what it actually was couldn't quite make out the make of the guitar, wasn't a fender though. Whole evening was amazing.

  13. Can't wait - had an awful fortnight with my daughter being ill - taking my son and we're going to bounce around in the mosh pit at the front like last time getting covered in lager and shouting till we lose our voices. And Wilko Johnson is supporting as well Anyone else going?
  14. soldering iron, leatherman, inflatable stonehenge, assortment of wigs and spandex (vinyl tap only), surgical tape - works better than plasters, ibuprofen, allen keys and feeler gauges. The drummer brings a rubber chicken, a beer bottle operner that makes a burping noise and a viking helmet so I don't bother with those.

  16. I think the Unibass is better to be honest - I just found it more usable and a bit more friendly to use. But yes the Fission does replace it
  17. I've had a Fission bass and the Akai Unibass. They're a good idea but I find only really useable in specific circumstances - in a three piece playing classic rock they're great; the distortion on both is very sharp and fierce so it works where there's loads of space to fill and you need a grungy distorted over sound. For anything else I found them far too unsubtle - especially the Fission; it's a real sledgehammer to crack a nut - the distortion is basically on or off and it doesn't sound great without any. The Akai has more variation and so is more usable. Long and short of both was they were handy (I used my Akai all the time in Vinyl Tap) but not worth me keeping just for a few songs in the sets that I play these days

  21. well if it was entirely under their control it does sound a little poor - usually if we're given carte blanche and the audience is raring to go then we just carry on playing and forget the break. Saying that I know nothing really of the situation maybe there were some other reasons why it went that way. Whatever though, venue restrictions, band's own choice, organiser's requests, it will always be the band that's seen in the worst light as they'e fronting the show

[/quote] Exactly this - we play to the timings that the organisers want. Most times we'll do a quarter of an hour break if we have to, some places want a raffle in the middle or something that stretches out to a tedious hour or more
