1. OK, I've done a couple of searches, and looked on the Wiki and can't find the answer to my query... I want to replace the tuners on my Jap Pbass because they're the only thing on the instrument I don't like. They're very un-user friendly (tiny movements of the peg shift the pitch wildly, and unpredictably), and they don't stay in tune particularly well once you've managed to get the intonation right either. I loved the tuners on a 2009 US Standard Pbass I had til last year, and am wondering whether I can fit a set of those instead? I'm aware that the lightweight ones now fitted to US Standard instruments are 3/8" size, rather than the chunky 1/2" old ones on my Jap instrument, but are there reliable ways of getting round the problem? I read elsewhere of someone suggesting rips of fag packet wrapped around the slimmer shafts to pack them out, but a) that sounds a bit Heath Robinson (not in a good way) to me, and b) I only smoke roll-ups, and I don't think bits of plastic Golden Virginia pouch or Rizlas would be up to it. If there isn't a good (affordable) solution to that problem, can you recommend better replacement tuners I could fit instead? All good advice would be appreciated. Thanks...
 2. Saturday morning Bump. It's going to the tip on Tuesday if no one wants it...
 3. As the title says - old tea chest to go. I always intended to make it into a tea chest bass (and did briefly), but that band wound up and it's now just taking up space. I don't want to get involved in any complicated arrangements for passing it on as I'm very busy at the moment, but if you're able to come and collect it from my house in York you're welcome to it. PM me. Cheers. Al
 4. I'm not much of a techie, so apologies in advance for this post not really offering the Help requested - but must thought I'd add that I've had problems with my BB nano too. It's fine when placed in the signal chain before the amp input, but makes loads of noise if I use it in the effects loop (which is where I want it really). Don't know whether this might have the same root cause as your problem, but i'm sure someone will be along shortly to put us right...
 5.
Great day! thanks to Yorks5string for organising it. I'm already looking forward to next year
+1 to that. Thanks.

 7.
As a huge Beatle and McCartney fan, I bought a Hofner contemporary series violin bass. It sounds great in having the thump sound, but I'm not overly impressed with the bridge adjustment. I like a low action and I can't really get there with this bass. General build quality is good though. I use it for about 10% of live gig songs (mainly Beatles or 60's of course!)
Personally I'm not really interested in violin basses - I only asked about the Hofners because I thought the last one i looked at (kinda Jazz style) in a shop seemed pretty good and I wondered what the general thinking was about them. Now I know! Would still be happy to hear more about Danelectros tho.
 8.
One of my students has one of the chinese Hofners. The built quality is awesome especially considering the price point. It isn't a one off either, i've played another one of the hofners in a friends shop and it was also as good. For the cash i think they'd be hard to beat
Thanks guys - that's what I needed to know!
 9. Anyone have experience with Hofner basses? I've heard they're good value, given their low price, but would be interested to get some BC feedback on that one.. Also / alternatively - I'm thinking of buying a Danelectro to have as a spare instrument (don't have a backup at all at the moment), and quite liked the second hand Longhorn I tried the other day - but can anyone out there tell me whether it's available in a longscale version? I know other Danos come in both long and short scale versions (eg the 63 RI), but I've not seen a Longhorn longscale so far....

 12.
Lovely bass.... Love my aerodyne Jazz... If only I had the cash... Best of luck with the sale...
Thanks for your good wishes Kenny - they seem to have had the desired effect anyway, as this instrument is now Sold (pending receipt of payment). And thanks to everyone for your interest and your encouraging posts.
 13.
It's a gorgeous bass. Very light, sounds superb and is even more beautiful in the flesh Al is a great guy to deal with too.
Thanks Nick!

 15.
I am looking to exchange my 75 re-issue jazz for a Lakland Duck Dunn, as I need Precision pick up/jazz neck. These critters have got me thinking though.# Are they passive fellas? Cheers, Karl.
Yes, they're passive. Probably a bit too far away for it to be practical for you, but if you happen to find yourself over this way, you're welcome to come and try it.
 16. It's now no longer a feeler! Here's a bump for a small but beatifully formed price drop...
 17. None. But I'm starting to think it might be a good idea...
 18.
There was a guy on here looking for one of these recently - "Aerodyne Precision" is his username - not sure whether he is still looking - it may be worth shooting off a PM to him.
Thanks for that - I've PM'd him.
 19. SOLD I'm reluctantly having to consider parting with this lovely instrument, as I've recently made a couple of new purchases and can't really justify keeping them all... Its a Japanese 2006 Aerodyne Classic Precision Bass Special, with added ashtray! Bit of a Marmite guitar as far as looks go maybe - you either love it or you hate it - but I love it, and surely I can't be the only one..? Wish I could afford to keep it, but it's not my principal gigging instrument, so I can't really. It sounds great, has a Jazz style neck and is lightweight at 3.9kg (8.6lbs). One of the volume pots is a little crackly, but five minutes with some switch cleaner would see that right (I may even get round to doing it myself...) I'm offering it for sale with a decent hardcase (as pictured). No, I'm not convinced it's a genuine Fender hardcase either, despite the badge on the lid - but it's a perfectly good, useable case nonetheless. Let me know if you're interested, or have any queries. PS Like the last instrument I sold on BC, this one has a BassChat pedigree, having previously been owned by Old Horse Murphy and Bassatnight Thanks for looking... SOLD
 20.
That's a brilliant synth. I used to play with a guy who swore by his. The sounds are pretty good. Too bad I suck at anything with keys. Anyway, good luck!
Thanks! And that's an early evening bump too...
 21. Reluctantly, financial necessity means I have to consider selling this keyboard. I don't use it much, and I've only had it about a year (from new), but it's great for what it is, and very good value considering what it can do, and the quality of it's preset sounds when compared to others... I've mainly used it for classic organ and piano sounds, but it's capable of lots more... It's a bit dusty, but other than that as new. Think I still have the original box for it... Please get in touch if you have any queries. Thanks.
 22. Just sold a US Jazz back to Nick that I originally had off him in an earlier trade. Very easy, friendly transaction - thanks.
 23.
Hiya, Trace Elliot did a great 4 x 12 sealed cab, to go with their Valve series amps. Superb sound, and go for peanuts ! Did one without a tweeter, Heavy cabs, though .
They did indeed. And they did, indeed, sound superb.. And yes, I did indeed let mine go for peanuts - I'm not going to admit for exactly how little because it's embarassing. Here is pic of the pair I had - one with and one without tweeter.. I loved standing in front of these. But I didn't love getting them to gigs on anything other than the ground floor. I still miss them - but then remind myself about how easy gigging life is now, with a Markbass NY604 in each hand!
