1. Just received the Aerodyne I bought from Steve - all in good order - arrived promptly and very well packaged. Thanks. Good transaction.
 2. PMing
Latest bump! Any questions or 'O.N.O's then please do not hesitate to ask, the cabinet is still in perfect condition
3. What are the very best octave pedals out there? I mean, if money were no object? Unfortunately money is a big object for me right now, but I'd be interested to know what to look out for anyway. I'm particularly interested in finding a pedal with the best, lowest tracking. I know there are a number of good pedals out there that do well down to B/A and even G, but are there any that will reproduce the lower octave right down to the bottom of the E string?
 4. As it says in the topic title - I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's tried (or at least heard) one of these in the flesh... http://www.lynx.bc.ca/~jc/pedals360.html I'm interested as I'm increasingly going towards a more vintage sound, and love the Acoustic360 - but but can't forsee having the cash or space for an original...
 5.
I would give this some serious consideration http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=85801
Serious consideration duly given. That's pretty much my ideal bass. But not at that price. I think I'd be able to get a very good, recent US P and have a bridge pickup supplied and fitted for considerably less.
 6. Just bought a footswitch from Kyle. Arrived very quickly and in good nick - thanks. Friendly and efficient guy to deal with. Cheers, Al
 7.
Why not make a P/J mod to your jazz? Any routing will be hidden if you decide to revert to original layout and it won't effect resale value by a great deal.
It's something I'm definitely considering. I wonder whether I'd get a "true" Pbass sound from a P pickup on a J body? I think I probably would - most of what I've read suggests as much, as the tone characteristics apparently come more from the pickup than the body - but can't pretend to be any kind of expert on that stuff myself. But the main point of my post was to ask for suggestions of alternative instruments to consider. Thanks anyway.
 8. Hello. I'm after recommendations for passive basses with P/J pickup configuration. A while ago I modified a US Fender V by adding a bridge pickup, and was very happy with the result, but ended up selling it as I wanted to revert to a 4 string instrument. I now own a very nice 2009 US Jazz, which I like a lot - but I still hanker after that mighty "P" bass sound. But I also love the tonal flexibility you get from having the J bridge pickup too (not least because I play a variety of different types of music, and find the pure p sound great for some things, whilst the J "parp" is just great for funk and soloing). Was on the point of completing a trade for a great looking 2008 US P (which I would then have modified) but the seller has just pulled out. So, whilst I'm still keeping an eye out for a good P at the right price, I'd also like to consider other instruments with the P/J configuration. I'm aware of the Fender options (including Aerodyne - tho I've still never tried one), but was wondering whether there might be other makes and models I should consider..? Well, I'm sure there are - I just don't know what they are... I know most good BCers tend to have trouble holding back when asked for their opinions - so it's over to you..! As a price guide, I'd be looking to sell or trade my Jazz in order to get a new instrument, so up to £600ish perhaps? Cheers.
 9.
Bump for a cracking drop-in bridge p/up for a Jazz
PMing re Jazz pup
 10. Sorted now - thanks I'm slowly getting to grips with my Boss Micro BR - basically it seems to be every bit as great as I'd hoped - and generally very easy and intuitive to use. But one simple, technical issue really has me stumped. I'm probably missing something blindingly obvious here - so apologies in advance - but how do you save a completed song (once it's been bounced down to 2 track stereo) as an MP3 file? I've followed instructions about how to save single tracks as an mp3, which is simple, but leaves you with just a mono mp3 to playback. I've recorded rehearsals with a stereo mic, for example, then gone home and added a bassline. Mixed it down to 2 tracks. Then I just want to save it as an mp3 and delete the original recording (to save loads of space on the SD card) - but I just can't work out how to do it. And I can't find any mention of it in the manual - but it's hard to believe that it can't be done... Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers.
 11. Hello mate - can I take the Ashdown footswitch please? Ta.
 12.
I know a guy in Warrington looking to get rid of his Aerodyne for like £360 or thereabouts
Thanks for letting me know. I'd be interested to see pics/spec...
 13.
Often in the past when I've done gigs, the engineer has plugged a DI before my pedals, so they just get a clean DI signal to play with. Then it occurred to me that my effects, fuzz, distortion, overdrive etc wouldn't actually be coming out of the Front of House speakers / PA, they'd just be hearing mostly clean DI'd bass with a bit from the cab. I have a programmable Sansamp DI now, so is it best to have this at the end of my chain, so the sound enginner gets my full effected bass signal. My chain goes like this: Bass > TU-2 tuner > Big Muff fuzz > Sobbat Bass driver > Sansamp DI > amp I look forward to hearing your ideas! Jim
I'm not familiar with the Sobbat Bass Driver, so can't be sure about what, if any, difference that would make (but I can have a good guess that it kinda just does what it says on the tin!) - but I'm a regular Sansamp BDDI user... Sometimes I have other pedals in my chain, sometimes not, but the Sansamp is the one I always use. It goes without saying that if you want all your pedals to affect the FOH sound (and I can't really imagine why you wouldn't - otherwise what's the point of having them?) you have to DI from the latest possible point in the chain. Presumably your amp doesn't have a DI, otherwise this question wouldn't be arising..? So, your chain as described above should be fine on that score. Are you asking because you would prefer to put the BDDI earlier in the chain? If so, just do it and tell the sound guy to put his DI at the end of the chain. Easier said than done sometimes, I realise - as lots of sound engineers will want to ignore your pedals, as it makes their job more difficult - but it's part of their job dammit! So stick to your guns!
 14.
I'm a Jazz bass man really but I like the Aerodynes. A mate who I shared a practice room with used to have one and it was lovely. Really well put together, looked awesome, big growly sound. Saw him play it for a few gigs and the tone was very big and bassy. Although...if you already have a modded P bass you love (and a Jazz you seem to like) it could be argued this bass would be a bit pointless in your setup? I dunno, it's not like I can talk with the amount of basses I have!
I sold the P-bass V I modified because I wanted to revert to playing a 4 string instrument. Here's a pic (taken by it's subsequent owner - Old Horse Murphy).
 15.
Hi I have an Aerodyne Jazz that you are welcome to come and try out! I live in Leeds but very close to Junction 46 of M1 north, so easy to get here from York! I also have Precision Lyte that you could try out. Will.
PM'd
 16. Hello. I'm contemplating drastic surgery on my 2009 US Jazz. Having always considered myself a Precision man, I've been kinda surprised to find myself liking this excellent instrument so much. Been trying to sell / trade it on and off for months now, but the longer I keep it, the less inclined I am to let it go... I modified the last P-bass I had (a 2007 US Standard V) with the addition of a Seymour Duncan bridge Jazz pup, and was very happy with the results. Love the P-bass sound, but having the flexibility of mixing in some J-parp was just fantastic. And I pretty much vowed that from that point I'd always want to have that option on any P-bass I owned... But I never imagined I find myself using a Jazz as my main instrument. So now I'm wondering whether going down the "aerodyne" route of putting a P-bass pickup onto a Jazz body would give me similarly satisfying results. I've never played an Aerodyne. Was wondering whether there might be an Aerodyne-owning BC member in the area (I live in York) who'd be kind enough to let me have a go? Failing that, I'd be interested to hear from anyone with experience of these instruments anyway... Cheers.
 17. Well now... Just come home from my first go on a RebelHead450. Hmm. Not immediately blown away, I must say. I didn't know the opportunity was going to arise, so unfortunately didn't have my own bass with me. But I borrowed something roughly comparable (a new Fender Jap Jazz). It was kinda as I'd imagined, but without the sprinkling of fairy dust that might have turned the experience into an epiphany. I was hearing it thro an RS212 cab, and at quite close quarters, so that may not have helped - but though the warm, "vintage" sounds were quite attractive, I thought the "clean" sound very muddy and indistinct. Definitely prefer my LMK for now, as it's so wonderfully crystal clear when I need it to be, and I can get the vintage tones with a combination of the VLE filter and a SansAmp BDDI as required. Still interested to hear an RH450 in a gig situation tho, so I'd be very interested to hear from any BC members in the North Yorkshire area who might be gigging with one soon...
 18.
Yep, Maplins get a +1 - though - if the plug is moulded - checking which lead goes where would require a continuity tester of some sort to find out which of the three wires connect to tip, ring and sleeve. I will bet a cup of steaming cappuccino that the wiring for your foor switch is: So, you could (if it's possible to unscrew the footswitch casing) find out which wire goes to the different terminals on the plug. If I hadn't have butchered my own dual footswitch at home for another purpose I would have sent it to you for free to help you out! It was a Marshall one - infact thinking about it - you could probably find a suitable footswitch on ebay far cheaper than 20 quid.
Thank you very much for this. I'll check the wiring later. I don't object to paying for a new footswitch (or a secondhand one) really - it just seems a bit of a waste when the thing probably needs so little doing to it to fix it. I'll hack the jack off and hope for the best! Nothing ventured....
 19. PM'd Wow - what a great looking instrument. Have a Bump on me.
 20. Hello. I use an IMG StageLine two channel footswitch to control my MarkBass LMK amp. It has suddenly stopped working properly. I've established that it's the footswitch, not the amp, that's at fault by trying the pedal on a couple of other amps in a music shop. The fault is that channel 2 stays on all the time, and channel 1 - tho it switches on and off ok - makes a loud pop when it does so. 3 music shops have told me it will cost as much to fix as to replace, and while we're not talking about a great deal of money here (£20), I thought I may as well open it up and see if I could do anything. I'm no electronics engineer. I can wire a plug - beyond that it's all alchemy to me... However, I've now established that the fault isn't in the switch itself - I think there's probably just a problem in the stereo jack lead. This has a moulded plug on it. If I cut it off, is it possible to reuse it, or do I need a new part? Or do I need a whole new cable? Changing that would involve re-soldering the connections in the pedal, which I've never done before. And I don't have the gear. But I guess it's always good to learn new things... Your advice would be appreciated. Cheers.
 21.
has the amp got an effects loop level control. I know my boogie 400+ had this and it made it easy to adjust the relative volumesl.
Sadly not - clearly that would solve the problem...
 22.
jacks loose?
Not as far as I'm aware. I've tried it with a few different cables, though I can see that wouldn't help particularly if it's a problem inside the box...
 23.
Hi. I have an EHX Bass Balls pedal (Nano version). It's a bit of a silly effect, but I like it. Occasionally. However, mine has recently taken to bahving oddly. When the effect is engaged, if I tap on the pedal casing, the tapping sound is amplified very distinctly through my rig. Odd, no? I mean, it basically seems to be behaving like a microphone. What's going on? The pedal is basically working ok otherwise, as long as I use battery power. It now wont work on mains tho - the bypass works, but when I switch on the effect the sound goes dead. Would welcome your advice.... Cheers.
Sorry - this is in the wrong thread isn't it? Probably should be in Misc Equipment and Accessories. Mods move me please? Thanks.
