1. Ah, I have to admit don't like seeing a chunk taken out of my payslip every month, but at least with PAYE I don't get any nasty surprises. For that sort of tax though I'd have though it would be better to pay £300 to an accountant to set you up as a limited company and then claim back all your expenses, which is usually way more than the tax comes to.
2. Is that the tax on the income from the BassChat advertising banners and paid forums? Doing nicely if so.
3. It's £2,500 in the 'stock' section. He still had it at Bass Day in Manchester IIRC.
4. Hi, if you're after lessons I learnt from Steve Hoggart for a year or so when I lived on Teesside, he's a really good guy and tutor, he teaches music technology at Middlesbrough College. His details are below. D. Stevehoggart{dot}com www.myspace.com/stevehoggart.
5. Basslab in Germany offer pretty much the only double neck I'd buy as they use composite construction so it only weighs as much as a normal bass:
6. Other pics: Dummy speaker for the 3 Watt valve power stage mounted to the inside of the lid: The internal gubbins, all hand wired by Dave Hall. I would say that 'they don't build them like this any more' but Dave still does - if you can afford one. ;-)
7. Hi Mate, to be honest I don't really need a combo at this stage, but thank you for the offer. Rear
8. Hi, Up for sale/trade is my DHA VT2-400-Bass Serial number 455. I bought it from Dave in November 2007, it's only been used a hand full of times as the band I bought it for broke up at the same time and I've not had a use for it since then as I've used my HA3500. It has passive tone controls, valve pre/power amp, line out, valve power amp (5 watt at 4/8/16 Ohms) ok for home practice levels and recording, tuner out/mute, bright switch, plug for foot switch although I never bought one. Price ... 300 Pounds + p&p. Trade ... not sure either. I'm Based in the North East. Pics soon. Cheers, Dave.
9.
Just got home from my meetings in the NE, so can I also add my thanks to WoT for the organisation. Alpha-dave, the out of print tutor book for DB is "Creative bass technique" by Henry Portnoi. If you search on Portnoi on this forum you will find the thread that lists it and others. http://www.vitoliuzzi.com/creative-bass-te...y-enry-portnoi/ appears to be a down-loadable copy
That's brilliant thank you, just a brief search has shown that there really are a lot of resources out there!
10. Aye, thank you for organising, WoT! It was great to put some faces to some names, I'm looking forward to the next one. Also a big thank you to Mottlefeeder for brining his NS EUB all the way and showing me how to bow - of all the bass bashes I've been to I've never seen the room of bassists stop playing so quickly as when I produced the wolf notes with the bow. D.
11. ... and SOLD! Thank you for putting us in touch bassfunk. Lots of practice to do now. D.
12. I should be able to make this now. Hurrah!
If anyone does want to hear this stuff, please say so within the next 24 hours, and I will tell the other users of my gear that they need to find an alternative for the day. If I haven't heard anything within 24 hours, I'll leave the gear where it is.
I would like to hear the NS EUB please if possible, but if it's a hassle then I can wait until the next bash.
13. I'll bring an ACG headless 6 and fretless 5. I'll probably bring my Line 6 Studio 110 simply as it has a head phone socket, which is very useful in a loud room as these things tend to be!
14. Do you mean the Moogs? http://www.moogmusic.com/moogerfooger/?sec...p;product_id=62
15. Excellent! Where is the nearest car park, or is there plenty around the venue?
16. Darn it, I'm away down south for this one but I'll try to make the next one, sounds loads of fun!
17. I spent a couple of hours at the Bass merchant trying them out, the 2x10s I could hold at arm's length (for a second), and sounded great (to me!). The only downside for me was the handles: multiple-edge handles that mean you can hold it easily in 2 hands but can't in one, making the light weight less useful!
18. Wow! The colour combination is a superb choice, and the board/ramp/p'ups look like they are a great playing surface.
19. A Mesa 400+ went for £400 on ebay recently. I'm unsure if that was an excellent bargain, or a sign of the times!
