1. I went for clear in the end as I wanted them to be as inconspicuous as possible, especially for when I´m using them on public transport and stuff. I quite like how you can see all the drivers crammed in their too which isn't a problem when they are well made and devoid of defects. I´ve seen some that have the first half inch coloured (normally red-left/blue-right) which would help disguise any ear wax a little. If you have any question about potential IEMs then head over to head-fi (pun intended) as a guy called average_joe has done some incredibly indepth reviews of the best Custom IEMS. He was also very forthcoming with advice when I messaged him direct (see here for his reveiw of the ones I bought http://www.head-fi.org/t/579760/dream-earz-aud-5x-custom-iem-review-pure-value-565-also-the-appreciation-thread) Oh, and I've stuck with wired into the IEM mixing desk as I dont need to wander around on stage and just prefer the simplicity of being plugged in. Its also a LOT cheaper!
2. I was very close to buying a pair of T1s but went for a pair of Aud-5Xs from http://audioearz.com/ I didn't take this decision lightly and put a fair bit of research in to finding the ones that were best for me. After reading a lot of (very positive) reviews on headfi I decided that the wait for the 5 driver 5Xs were worth it, especially as I had the opportunity to get them tax free. Mitch, the guy that does them was really helpful and I happily recommend him. I actually prefer the acrylic to the silicon; I have silicon earplugs for work and they acrylic just slide in and out easier which I prefer. Silicon will give you a little bit more noise isolation but in saying that, Mitch actually fills part of the 5Xs with silicon so that evens things out a bit.
3. Wow, that was even quicker than when I sold it! Guess that's the advantage of living in/near London.
4. Ratman came and picked this up tonight and should be well on his way back to north London now. Great guy to do business with, hope you like it!
5. Sold to ratman so only took 3 hours. Mind you, the rugby was on!
6. I hope this is now sold, that is an incredible amp for an incredible price! I have had one for a couple of years now and I wouldn't be without it; its light (ridiculously so), has great tone and is so flexible with the two preamps and poweramps. They are wired independently so you basically have built in redundancy. Running this with my Ashdown 4x10 and a Barefaced Big One I can be heard over our far from minuscule front of house!
7. This has not been used in probably 18 months other than just to give it a 'maintenance' run to make sure it is still working and exercise the speaker a bit. Reason being I bought a Big One off here a couple of months after the compact and have used the Big One ever since. The compact has therefore only been gigged once maybe at max two times. For those that aren't familiar with Barefaced then you should be! Alex makes cracking cabs, loud, durable and extremely light weight (this model clocks in at a tiny 12 kg) and it may be the last cab you ever need. This is the one with the sturdy black metal grill. It comes with an all black Roqsolid cover (the one without the padding to keep the weight down) which is a perfect, waterproof cover for carrying to venues in the pouring rain. and is in as new condition aside from the rubber feet on the bottom which have been replaced by slightly larger, much sturdier feet (the feet falling off was about the only complaint people have had about this cab!). I'm not sure what these are going for at the moment but would suggest about £425 with the cover? It can be picked up from an OX10 postcode or I can arrange to meet the buyer somewhere within the Reading-Henley-Oxford triangle. I may also consider a trade for a Midget T (must be a T) as I have a friend who is after one and is willing to do me a deal. Photos to follow over the weekend...
8. Beautiful basses, I just wish it wasn't in such great condition... I've got an identical Bongo that is in absolutely mint condition (still even has the barcode thingy on the back) but I'm too scared to gig it in case I knock it about so I stick to playing my best-up old Yamaha live! I have a 1979 Precision in the same position.
9. Sold my Markbass LMK to Phil today. A very fast and smooth transaction. I would happily recommend dealing with him in the future. Thanks Phil p.s. Good aircraft knowledge!
10. I've had this for probably 18 months and owing to the fact I also have a Shuttlemax 12.0 it just doesn't get used. Its a cracking amp in good condition but as I have a 6 ohm cab I need the flexibility of the individual power amps in the Shuttlemax. So it really deserves a new home. Here is the Spec: Markbass LMK The LMK is the ultimate combination of power and tonal control, in one amazingly lighweight, compact and rugged package. This head is a true two channel pre-amp, and it's built for versatility. It also comes with a Markbass Gig bag and a Markbass 2 button footswitch. The perfect amp if you are gigging with two different basses! For those not familiar with these and other MB amps, they are LOUD LOUD LOUD! I'm asking for £450 picked up from OX10 but could probably meet near Oxford or Reading. Photos to follow.
11. Damn, I've had an add in the wanted forum for the past couple of weeks. Gave up after my gig on saturday and just received the dispatch notice today. Cheapest I could find new was over £50 so this is a great deal.
12.
cheeky - no, big, well built and you could use it to retake the Falklands. THis pedal board is not for wimps.
Sorry, I'm RAF - couldn't resist the dig!
13.
you are correct in that its in no way against any rules but most people make a loss as they sell at a time when they have to for financial reasons or to fund the itch for something else. its not the end of the world and i can understand both sides of the argument.
I'm gonna have to agree with Davy on this one. He bought the bass from someone that was happy to make a deal. It's not like he set out to rip him off, or pressure him into, indeed the bass had been on here for a while without being sold so was probably doing the previous owner a favour as he needed the money. If you don't agree with him making a profit then don't buy it but I don't think its for others to jump on his post trying to be the moral police. I have more of an issue with the previous owner divulging how much it was sold for. That information was part of a contract between davy and him and should not be shared without davys permission. I believe there are laws to prevent that in the commercial world (or certainly were where I used to live). Whilst I don't personally agree with buying stuff off here for a quick flick (all the stuff I have bought is for personal use), leave the guy to sell the bass for whatever he wants - it will only sell if someone else thinks they are paying the right price!
14. We played a big wedding in a nice venue that had a sound limiter. Grrrrrr. A quick explanation for those that aren't familiar with this evil invention... you plug all your gear into to specified (in this case red) power sockets which are controlled by a decibel metre. When you go over 90db, BOOM, all the power is turned off. Yeah, really great for your kit! Anyone else had trouble with these? The ambient noise in the place was around 83-84 decibels and this was just with people chatting, kids playing and people walking on a wooden floor! We did our best to be as quiet as we could but the drummer completely unmiked (and he doesn't hit that hard) was hitting 90 db. Thankfully we knew some of the guys at the wedding who kindly shimmied up some rafters and unplugged it after it killed everything during the 4th song. The hole atmosphere of the place just came alive then!
15.
I have one of these - it's like the HMS Ark Royal of pedalboards. I love it!
Old, broken and now entirely useless?
16. Interesting to see the amount of E string failures. I've never had a string break but would have thought that the E string would be the least likely to go seeing as it is almost reinforcing rod thickness!
17. I just watched a guy on Euro news, solo violinist standing up in front of a full orchestra, in the middle of his solo and his bridge just flies (off along with all the strings)! Whole orchestra stops and the poor guy is left standing there with a very bare looking violin and with no option than to have a laugh. So what's the worst equipment failure you have had? I've been lucky, never had so much as a broken string, flat battery, blown tube, nothing.
18. Sold my combo to Richard the other day. Nice guy to deal with - kept in touch throughout the transaction and we had a good chat when exchanging also. Would happily deal with him again.

22.
Really great amp for the price and a nice guy to deal with! someone should snap this up soon
Bump for new pictures
23. Sold Mark my amp this week and he was a pleasure to do business with. Good communications and rapid payment. Thanks Mark, how the amp gives you years of good service!
