Watched DD & as ever the hype seemed to outweigh the product. They had some good pop songs back in the day & always liked JT''s bass but for me they've always seemed a bit disingenuous...something a bit cheap about them. Probably Le Bin who comes across as a bit snotty. In recent years they've seemed bent on creating their own legend & as the greatest bands of all time go, they were never really in the club. YMMV & stuff.

Another vote for EXL nickels here. Swapped over from Elixir furries a couple of years ago & never use anything else now.

Probably not too difficult if you've not got too many commitments outside of music. I'd love to but kids & the 9 to 5 on top of current gigs make it impossible atm. If I was to stumble upon a bunch of guys who wanted to do something really casual on the side of our respective bands & interested me I'd be all over it. But that perfect storm hasn't happened yet

Nope, but I always make a point of finding the local music shop/crack converters before I travel & drop in when I start missing my basses too much, pretending to be a genuine customer. Almost always ends up with three small kids & the missus standing around bored sh1tless thinking 'what happened to the beach?' while dad's whacking away on a Squier

I hate the thought of gigging. All that driving, lugging gear, hanging around trying not to drink too much (& failing), missing the big game on a Saturday night...then I go on stage & I'm in my element, & it's the best thing in the world again at least until the next morning. Funny innit. I know I'll never give it up while I'm still able to do it tho. I've had periods when I've been up on blocks so to speak - generally a couple of months between bands here & there - & it feels like there's a big part of my life missing. Eurgh.

Been a fiver for 15 or so years now. I like the extended range. Like someone else said, I know the feeling of picking up a 4 & feeling like something's missing. Got to the point where I'd pick one up & honestly wouldn't know what to do with it! So I got myself a 4 banger & now I'm happy going between the two. Can't be doing with none of that low B nonsense tho! Just can't get on with it. It's high B for me. Yup, high B.

Nearly Dan are fantastic. Better than the real thing these days i.e. they don't play everything at 2mph & the lead vox ain't shot to bits. Unfortunately tho they haven't been down this neck of the woods for a while

Can't complain about the RWC this year. All the gigs we've had have had their start times moved to 9.30 for the big games, including a wedding for the Eng Wales game. Win win for me as a massive egg fan

What am I to do mate? Name the guy & get slagged for calling someone out publicly? I took a decision not to based on that. Bit of an assumption there buddy & the wrong one I'm afraid.

Bleedin ell. Let's say the guy reckoned the amp is worth £500. And used the shortfall to get me to part with more cash than I offered initially - which was only just under his asking price. Then the guy is suddenly selling the amp at £650 which he obviously thought it was worth initially. There's your deviousness. That is my point.

Nice to have a healthy thread going on here, I usually kill em stone dead. I get the buyer beware/market economics thing, I really do. Christ knows I'm old enough. Again, my basic point was the obvious deviousness involved at the outset which I didn't expect from a Basschatter. Whilst I respect everyone's opinions, it's nice to see the odd contributor who agrees on the community spirit angle. Like I say, with that gone we're knackered. On here, in everyday life.

I think you miss the point there Discreet. It's about the principle & a matter of trust within a community. If we ain't got that, we're screwed. Judging by the weight of your reply I guess you'd do/have done exactly the same as the seller. If you're fine with that that's great for you & it's good to know who's up front & who ain't. I won't name the fella as it'll start a battle I don't intend dedicating days/weeks to. It's a nice guitar & the feeling will wear off soon I'm sure. We're all allowed a rant tho eh? & we've all got the option of ignoring threads that we don't agree with or wind us up.
