We've inherited a few bits of PA gear that we haven't used for the last couple of years and was wondering if it's worth selling them. Dod 430 series 2 graphic equaliser - 2 channels with 15 bands per channel LA audio GCX2 dual compressor/gate Roland RE3 Space Echo All in good (used) condition- a few of the knobs are scuffed (errr....). My gut feeling is that the Space Echo is the only decent bit of kit as I've heard of it. Is this any better than the current Alesis Quadraverb4 we have in the PA rack? Any clues on wether I should eBay this lot and what is realistic to expect?
Nothing at all I'm afraid. If you want to pay for my petrol I'll come and take it off your hands though.
I guess I need some more Hi-Pass effects and to lay off the subs!
Nooooo! Keep them, use them all!

I don't really see where the problem with phasing is likely to occur, unless you're running the boards in parallel with dry signal, in which case it should be effected sound anyway and shouldn't be any more noticeable than using a normal clean blend pedal. The only other place will be the relationship of the bass DI and Mic, which is something the soundguy has to deal with no matter what the rig. The M80 is probably you best bet as it leave the signal pretty clean unless you turn the distortion on, whereas the BDDI definitely imparts its own tone even if you set it all flat. If you're going to get your own mic, get two Sennheiser e906's (NOT 609s or 606s) as they sound awesome on both guitar and bass cabs.

You'll definitely need to use a pick. Using a Pbass would help but it's probably not crucial. I can get veeery damned close with a Jazz and a sansamp. Start off just getting a sansamp then see how close you can get with your bass. You'll definitely need more for his 'solo' tone though.

Great transaction yet again. Traded a Whammy IV + cash for a Moog Freqbox. Easy to deal with and all sorted in a matter of days.

My most hated phrase. Yes it's bass, but I want it to be interesting. I'm not going to go mental, but being allowed to play more than just root notes on the beat is a definite must. Why do most non-bassists insist that this must be the case?
Where's the guy with the Christina Hendricks avatar pic when you need nice racks discussing?
Here's an excellent rack, you can see it just peeking through a bit. I wish it was mine.

I'd steer clear of the Boss RE20 though. That most definitely DOES affect your tone in a big way even when bypassed. I think it is part of the point of the pedal, but was really not what I wanted when I had one. Pity cos the rest of the pedal is pretty awesome.
http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHMDX1600 Hm, i think this might do the job. And it has two chanels, so i could make 2 different presets, with two line seletors. Now for triggering? Would any cheap mic do it? My main worry is that the mic might catch lots of background noises, even my bass sound.
You might get away with a really cheap mic if you really wrap it up in something soft and sound absorbant then throw it inside the drum. Probably have to play around a bit but I think that should work pretty well.

Way Huge Swollen Pickle. New one has loads of options and is very versatile. No blend though, but holds the low end very well.
I wouldn't! Loved mine, probably the most 'musical' compressor I've owned. Wish I hadn't sold it but then again, with a full function compressor in my amp head I wouldn't have needed it.
Fair enough. My housemate has one, just never really got on with it.
I was already sort of looking at the DBX 160X, £100 new is a very good price. I've also seen an Alesis 3630 for the same price, I'll look into the TC Electronic C300 as well. Thanks
I'd steer clear of the Alesis. The things are a bit dicey. Try looking at a Joe Meek channel strip too, one has EQ and Compression and can be had for about £100 too.
Yep, like that one - I think a fave in studios is the 160A too.
This. Things are forking awesome.

I think the best and EASIEST way to get the full tone, is a DI pre everything, and a Mic on the cab. Just as you would get at most gigs. The DI picks up the raw sound and is generally used to get nice clean bottom end and the Mic picks up the actual sound of the bass. It's the industry standard method for a reason. Edit: Forgot to add, if you're in a venue that's not mic'ing the cab up, it generally means that either: a.) Your sound Engineer is lazy. b.) The venue is small enough that there will be enough sound coming from your cab to fill out the sound anyway. you would be surprised quite how much noise from a cab can still be heard over some of the loudest PA's.
Great looking board Simo. Fantastic. How do you find the MXR Noise Gate. I really need to try a noise gate out soon for my monster board...
I always like the boss one purely beacause of it's loop. Basically gives you perfect gating.

XST really? (edit: shoulda read more on the website, I assumed the xlt would go lower.) Either way though, can't find one. I want a 4x10 cos I've already got another but can't afford to buy two new ones, and I want the versatility of two cabs. (I'll replace my other one at some point once I have more moniesas it's just an Ashdown Mag)

I've been looking for an Eden 410XLT but can't seem to find one anywhere. Is there anything similar I should look at? I want something very flat and HiFi sounding, so no Ampeg, needs to kick out very good bottom end and sub without distorting at all. I'm not amazingly rich so ideally no more than £400ish really. Do I have a chance?

It still needs some kind of amp to power the cab. I've run mine straight into a power amp and cab but it didn't sound quite as nice as it could have done, it's nice to still have some control on the amp as well.
That wins. I'd like the 12 Stage Phaser as well... But will resist
I wish I could afford one. Just want the LPF as I'm not entirely getting on with my FM4.

Can someone help me identify these 2 units?
TomTFS replied to StevieD_FenderP2009's topic in Effects
The blue connector looks to be a 16A out, the cable to the left of it will almost certainly be a 16A in. Just stage power, bigger gigs try to avoid 13A plugs as much as possible. The in and out will just mean they can daisy chain all the amp racks off one supply if needed. They're called CEEFORM's as mentioned before. The bigger cables become loads of fun, 125A three phase - the cable is about an inch in diameter. Needs two people to carry a 10m length of cable! -

Bottom one is just a power distro. The top one I think is some kind of enhancer/processor. Kinda like a Sonic Maximiser type affair. Not sure of the exact unit though.
