Moog Pedals...
cue Shep..
Was just about to say....
doesn't the M13 have a wah model you could set to a LPF?
It does but I've tried them before, it just doesn't work though. I'm assuming you're getting all the synthy noises from the M13, in which case I'd definitely start with the MF101, just make sure you have an expression pedal or four to go with it.
  2. People always seem to say that your amp size should be proportional to the venue size. So big venue->big amp and Small venue->small amp. I've never understood this, as it is in fact the opposite way round. In a small venue your rig is most likely going to be either only DI'd (no mic) or not even that. In which case, your amp has to fill the entire room. Whereas in a big venue, the amp will be DI'd and Mic'd (maybe even more!), and you have loads of PA for the punters to hear you, plus decent monitors to hear yourself. Not to mention that, but the quieter you are on stage, the easier the FOH engineers job is, and the easier the monitor engineer's job is (albeit he might have to do a bit more work putting your bass in monitors etc, but then he has less work to do trying to get the lead vocal to cut over the sound of your backline.) This of course has no bearing on bands that intentionally want to sound noisy or dirty, who just need big loud amps all the time.
  3. I used to run an ABM300 and a MAG410 in a hardcore/metal band tuning down to A. It just about kept up but I generally had the head close to maxed out, even at band practices. That was competing with two guitar amps into 412 cabs (a solid state peavey and a Marshall DSL). You'll definitely need the extra cab, if not even more. A 410 to go with it would keep you sorted with some headroom, you can get the MAG ones very cheap now and they're decent cabs.
  4. Hah, yea a grab rail. Thanks a lot! I need an external one so I don't have to destroy my cab cutting holes in it.
  5. New pedalboard for my new band. Just running a partscaster Jazz through this into an SVT2 and a 70s Ampeg 2x15. Lot's of loud, lots of fun and LOTS of exercise.
  6. Anyone know where I can get one from? I'm looking for one of the big long external ones, like on the Ampeg/Ashdown 810 cabs. Tried ebay and google but I can't really find what they're called in the trade. I either end up with flightcase handles or bar-towels. Cheers.
  7.
Rig of Doom Version 1. Two amp heads and pedals.
It doesn't really matter much what you do with your bass tone if you're gonna mic it up with two vocal mics that are pointing at the floor.
  8.
First dibs please mate!
You've got three already, you don't need another!! [unless I can borrow it on a semi-permanent basis?]
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4PDT-Footswitch-Ster...#ht_1100wt_1141
Cheers, but anywhere in UK as I need this as soon as possible.
  10.
Here you go, get a box, a 4pdt switch and 6 mono jack plugs. A = clean bass to amp, kbd thru fx to DI, B = bass thru fx to amp, kbd clean to DI
Sweet! Cheers. Right, anyone know where I can find a 4pdt footswitch? I seem to remember looking for one before and them being like hens teeth.
  11.
Hmmm, tricky one. How about a 2nd pedal board for simpleness? It sounds like you need something that works like a switchable effects loop that wont cut either channel. I'd PM Max
Thought about that too, but it's just a few too many extra pedals to worry about. It's not actually for me, it's for a band I work for who aren't particularly great at looking after gear and keeping things simple so I'm doing my best to make it simple really. But yea, Shep and others have the right idea now, had a torrent of people suggesting A/B boxes on other forums
  12.
Oh, you want both at the same time?! I would say it can't be done and you're a complete mentalist. Running two instruments stimultaneously through the same effects and then splitting the signal after the effects so that the bass ends up at the amp and the keys end up at the DI?! You would either need to mod all your pedals to carry two signals, or buy another set of pedals and just deal with it. Truckstop
Nooo, both at the same time but only one through the FX. Haha, that would be some insane pedal otherwise.
  13.
To get my head around it, I've drawn a diagram in my head that just involves the use of two A/Bs (assuming the OP doesnt want volume or equaliser control for each channel). Scenario 1 - bass > pedals > amp Scenario 2 - keys > pedals > D.I. > P.A. So you'd need one A/B before the pedals (bass and keys into pedals), and an A/B after the effects (pedals into channel one (amp) and into channel 2 (D.I. and P.A.). The pain in the arse obviously being, you don't want to have to click on two seperate pedals to switch between bass and keys. Looks like it's a job for Max @ [SFX]! If I've got what you're after correct in my brain! Truckstop
Yea, like this. Both instruments need to be able to be played at the same time. Someone suggested a workaround with an LS2, putting the FX in loop A, keys in and out on B, and bass on the input with amp on the output. Apparently it'll do what I want if set to "output select" mode. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Otherwise it's off to SFX I go. Cheers.
  14.
For about £15 and 30 mins soldering you can make a simple effective A/B pedal that will do the job. I can knock one together for you if you want. You can use them either way: one input to choice of 2 outputs, or choice of 2 inputs to one output.
It needs to be a bit more complicated than that. I've got one keyboard going to a DI, then bass going to amp, and I want to be able to swap the pedals between the two. So changing between: Bass>switch>amp with keyboard>switch+pedals>DI and Bass>switch+pedals>amp with keyboard>switch>DI
  15. I want to be able to switch my pedalboard between keyboard and bass. So two signal chains and the effects are swapped between them. Has anyone tried to do this before? Ideally I'd like a single switch and have it all as simple as possible. Had a look at the Lehle loopers and the Boss LS2 but I don't think they can do it, unless someone can correct me? Any thoughts? Cheers.
  16. Pull out some 100-150Hz, add a small amount of enhance. Done. On an Eden Metro. I think that could just be the cab though as it's an old Ashdown MAG one I haven't bothered to upgrade yet.
  17. Boss OC2/3 and some good fingerwork should get you pretty damned close I think. Sounds like the lower octave is changing differently to the upper in place though so it might be two different basslines rather than just a straight 'sound'.
  18.
howdy pedal freaks, if i could pick your brains for a moment that would be great what i want is a stomp box noise gate, with an audio trigger that i can use to gate my bass to the kick drum. i dont want to rely on sound men for this, can anyone recommend a pedal? cheers
Gate your bass to the kick drum? As In your bass only comes out when the kick drum is played? That's backwards to how pretty much everyone I've ever heard does it. Are you sure you don't mean a compressor, so that your bass ducks out when the kick dum is hit? In either case I don't think there are currently any pedals that do it, so I'm afraid you'll have to get a rack unit.
  19. Definitely need some sort of filter, either with switchable rates and amounts or expression pedals. It's gonna be expensive.
  20. Buy a Boss LS2. or http://www.bargeconcepts.com/vfb1.html or http://www.xotic.us/effects/x_blender/ Depending how much money you have, and what options you need. I just use mine for effects and get any dirt from elsewhere. Just doesn't really sound right to me.
  21. Damn, do want. Got a 607b and love it. No way I can afford it though.
  22.
+1! awesome pedal. keeps the bass so well i swear its a bass pedal! can also go from insane to quite nice fuzz sounds. big muff cheaper but for me this is well worth the money. andy
It's pure DOOM on guitar too, haha. So much bottom end.
  23.
I suppose that would work - any recommendations for such a bypass loop pedal ? I can see it causing problems with dry signal level though...
I think you could make it in a small enclosure, two footswitches, one bypasses the whole thing and is latching, the other just turns on the send to the "effect loop". I tried looking for one but couldn't find anything, pretty sure I've seen someone wanting one before though so they're probably out there.
