Laws of science, logic and the rule book should all come second to your ears.
+1 this is soooooo true & a good Fender strung with a set of flats is true music to my old lug 'oles
 2.
Thanks Neil, the Bass was exactly as described like new, communication was second to none and shipping was superfast! Will keep in touch as the project goes forward. Regards Steve
thanks Steve, can't wait to see how this bass turns out, ATB Neil.
 3. just sold a P bass to Steve, top bloke to deal with, nice easy straight forward transaction & a nice guy too.
 4. i had a mini rig & thought it was pretty good but then flogged it to my nephew & bought a Roland bass cube 30 which i think sounds much better.+ it's easier to cart around house to house.
 5.
+1 My last purchase was a New American Standard, from Soundslive so I didn't even try it. Its the dogs dangly's. I also have a 62 RI P which is beautiful to play and i will never sell it (I once said I would never own a P bass). I have a Lakland DJ4 which is also gorgeous but its different to the Fenders, slightly more modern sounding. Of all the studio work I have ever done I have only ever been 100% happy with the sound once, it was a Jap Fender Jazz. I sold that and I really wish I hadn't. I just sold a Kingbass because I grew tired of the clinical sound and found it lacked warmth when used with my original band. Its just a matter of taste, I'm sure there's a Fender out there for everyone.
well said that man. i must say the 2008 on Fenders are particually good,i've yet to play one i don't like, enjoy your new bass.
 6. i really liked the sound of my '51,i just rolled the tone off about a 1/4 turn & it really thumped along nicely.
 7. cracking bass, this was obviously blinged by someone with impeccably good taste
 8. i'm with Clarky on this, black looks great but tort' will look awesome.
 9.
Fenders don't leak oil.
hey come on guys, slagging off my brand of bass is one thing, but my bike give me a break
 10.
Depends on the model 60s and 60s re issues need the neck taking off which is a pain
aha but i did say the American standard & deluxe models never mentioned the reissues
 11.
I got mine just before Christmas, and it didn't come with this, it had a normal silver allen key. I have the T handled one anyway and it doesn't work with the deluxe because the allen bolt channel is too shallow and without removing the scratchplate it is at too steep an angle. Wouldn't have to mess around with this nonsense with a simple MM style truss rod.
that is strange mine fits my deluxe P perfectly.
 12.
4. When you want to make said adjustments to the neck, how about just popping that allen key into the truss r... no hold on, you've got to take the scratchplate off because the cutout isn't large enough to fit.
if you bought your Fender new it comes with a tool for adjusting the truss rod without removing anything.basically its a 3/16" ball ended T handled allen key, fits right in dead easy, these come with all American standard & deluxe basses.
 13. i do wish people would stop harping on about Fenders build quality, there's absolutley nothing wrong with the quality of modern MIA Fenders, they are built as good as any other mass produced instrument of the same price range, escepially the american deluxe range, the MIJ/CIJ stuff is very good & consistant too. when i bought my deluxe P bass i tried several Sandbergs & EBMMs back to back with it & i much prefered the P bass & it is as well built as any of them. my Jazz is the best Jazz i've ever played -period. my 62 reissue P is bloody gorgeous. shure some of the MIM stuff is sh*te but some of it is bloody good.the odd MIA dog may slip through the QC net,do other brands not have the same problem ? I know Fender went through some very hit or miss periods in the past,as the very worst Fender i've ever played as a 1974 Jazz bass, but the new stuff is excellent. ok i've had my rant, signed Fender fanboy.
 14. i think the blue jazz is gorgeous & if i could afford it it'd buy it.
 15.
As you have experienced, TIs are low tension and remain low tension through the body. I'm not actually convinced that through-body really makes more difference than a psychic medium could tell. And yes I love my ADP (with flats).
cheers for the advice mucho appreciated
 16. i started out playing guitar (sorry 'bout that) with my brother but found it too fiddley & ended up playing bass lines on it,so i though sod it i'll buy a bass. unfortunately it was a Kay SG ripoff type thing in transluscent brown/red,plywood body an' all--what a piece of crap it was but it got me started off.
 17.
Hey Artisan. I've the exact same American Deluxe P and I've only ever used flats on it. Started with Fender stainless steel flats but then for ages used TI Jazz Flats. Recently I've been trying D'Addario Chrome Flats but I expect to go back to TI Jazz Flats. Flats are fine on this bass. And I've strung all of them through the body without any problem. I've heard though that La Bellas do not work through the body.
cheers for that E'T',looks like i'll have to top load them then which is a shame but never mind. i've tried TI's before on my '62 R'I' P bass & found them a bit "floppy" so i gave them to a friend who loves them--dohh. where as i've got La Bella's on my Jazz & i absolutely love 'em to bits. on the subject of TI's,whats the tension like through body ? cheers. as for these basses-bloody awesome arn't they, just a tad bright with the rounds on for me.
 18. cheers guys, thanks for that. i guess i'll have to try a set of Labella's on then, when the current set are worn out of course can't go wasting money.
 19. i nearly always use flats on my passive Fenders but i was wondering what my deluxe P would sound like with flats on it. yes ok i'm too tight to buy a set & try them,i am a Yorkshire man after all. also would they be ok strung throught body or would i be better top loading them, cheers.
 20.
I'd steer clear of their flatwounds - so much string tension I could hardly move 'em!
+1 yep they're bleedin' aweful, rough as a bear's arse too, ripped the crap out of my old corvette fretless's board.
 21.
They also have some at the Bass Gallery in London, but didn't have my gauge in stock. I had to get mine from Thomman in the end. Had to pay over the odds, but I don't plan on changing them so figured it was worth the investment. Andrew
cheers,i saw them on there earlier but i'm far too tight (aka Yorkshire) to pay that much for them.i may have to put a heavier gauge set on & see how i go
 22.
Try musicground in Manchester or Leeds... they had some on display the last time I was in there about 3 or 4 weeks ago
never thought of them,cheers
 23. Stringbusters have been out of stock of the set i want for a while now, anywhere else to buy them from in the U.K. ? cheers.
