I like the white pickguard, also maybe worth going over the paint with some T cut as it may bring the colour back? ... nice looking bass.

All this talk of Musicmans must be getting boring, but please tell me what is the difference between a Musicman StingRay and Musicman Sterling, I can see you can select pup combo's, what else? thanks for your patience gentleman

I bought 'crash course bass guitar' by Stuart Clayton..... .......it said l could/would play bass in 8 weeks...... .......my copy must be broken....... .......I bought it last year and still can't play

this may help? SB14 v Ray34 ....we need to remember this guy could probably play a broom handle with an elastic band and make it sound good Ray34 with silver burst is stunning to look at, also the honeyburst tis lovely, but always it's never gona be a 'real' StingRay....so the same old question 'snide' new or 'real' old! I would never thought I'd want a s/h bass but having played a well 'lived in' Stingray I got on loan it wouldn't bother me now...or would it? do Ray34's have G string issues's? Maybe it's the name, Manta Ray would have sounded sexier, Sterling reminds me of old Rover 800's, pipes and slippers...

The best paint finish you will normally come across is on your car, and lives a very hard life too, what with sun, frost, rain, snow, impacts bird crap (!) etc....I haven't seen any mention of automotive two packs on bass forum, don't know why, maybe a good reason. If you did the prep' before hand and used a suitable primer this maybe a cost effective way to go? Paint shops do use an oven but it isn't that hot, more warm.

that's it I have found my reception band....cross dressing bassist with pink bunny violin maestro I don't think I have ever heard a bass/violin/piano combo before, seems to work though don't go past 3.30 if you value your sanity

our nipponese superstar, I nearly didn't recogise him with his clothes on wonderful tone and only an E string made me feel quite humble if you take the time to look thru his vids this guy is remarkable...got some basses too

Someone posted a link for StingRay 4 string single humbucker 2EQ but I can't find it now....can anyone help? cheers guys

The super smashing and so generous lender tells me this Ray has Dean Markley strings, very bright, feel like Roto's, sounds like a metal dustbin lid being hit with a sledgehammer hhhhhmmmmmmmmmm nice..what a tone on Higher Ground, this thing slaps better than a fish out of water! ....downside...I know what is meant by a weak G string, great when popping but so quiet and dull if fingered, makes my Yammy BB414 G sound like it's being popped when fingered in comparrison...does make that sense? I really don't want to give this bass back ...

:wub: I have been lent a 1980's Stingray 4 string H 2EQ in the most wonderful honey sunburst type colour, all original....played it for 10 mins before popping to the Barrel and bash my balls with an iron bar this thing could blow a house down....my 3EQ Active Yamaha 614 went all quiet with no EQ but this baby is still loud, loud and loud....I love it at the moment. I like the string mute idea, but this has the E and A ones missing, I use a elastic band on my other basses . ....it's all original too, and light, I was under the impression they (Rays) were heavy.....I held a SR4 last week and that thing could double for an anchor for a battleship...why the difference? The neck feels different to a Sub I held too?

Just for interest, any big changes for 4 string Rays from 80's (Ernie Ball) on 90's and 00's....are earlier ones more desireable etc If there are too many to desribe, lets say single humbucker 4 string 2/3 EQ? many thanks guys

Anyone know how this differs from my BB-414, apart from the colour schemes and natural head....I can't anything myself? I love my BB-414....the active 614 I had, well it just sounded too bright for me, great bass but not for me... If there isn't much difference (TBC), there is a great write up in the bass review section of a BB-414.
