exit international Local dudes. 2 really dirty tones, one does most of the low and the others more like er lead. Interesting stuff, they played at the venue I was doing sound at on sat. TIGHT as hell!
+1 for them. much, much more intersting than listening to afficionados having pissing competitions.
 2.
I've seen this before, in the Bill Wyman Book of Root Notes. I think it comes just before "Étude in E#".
i still can't play an E# to save my life.

 6.
colour = tuned frequency ? shades of colour = fine-tuned frequency ? all interesting. musical instruments/scales are part of language/speech/ are part of art/perception. all life's a perspective of a perspective of... this is science.
i'm going to bed soon. i want your homework on my desk in the morning. g'night. x
 7.
Thank god you don't see any purple. I hate purple. If E was purple I would be in real trouble. I would never play it. And it's the only note I know.
Em is great. EMaj is a tosser. unless he is held in check by Em

 9.
Do you see notes as colours? I've spoken to other musicians who do and some who don't have a clue what I'm on about! For me: E is yellow F Grey F# Sandy G Green G# Greeny turquoise A Browny red A# Dark grey B Blue C Green C# Bluey turquoise D Red D# ?
hi arthurhenry, i find this whole subject fascinating. music tweakes different things in different brains. how do you 'view' music ? can you tell me what you 'see' when you hear this ? ..just out of interest ? no rorschach test or 'owt !!
 10.
It's good, but I'm sorry to say it didn't make me sh*t myself.
glad to hear it your reply nearly made me piss myself, guess i'm getting too old..

 12.
I have something similar. I hear all the notes I play as wrong and see scowling faces and hands clamped over ears. Weird.
no, that's sinagainstbassia.
 13. bass is not everyone's first point of reference when it comes to music. (except for us, that is..) part of this problem lies in the fact that many peoples exposure to popular music is transferred via audio equipment which isn't set up for a varied bass-response (the radio, t.v. etc). bass clarity and volume requires large(ish) speakers or specialist accoustics. therefore, you're right. 95% of people won't notice your playing unless you are a virtuoso. keep it tight, and do your job !!
 14.
Fabulous! Does this also mean you have perfect pitch?
you beat me to it. i'm trying to 'learn' perfect pitch at the moment. some people say it can't be done, others disagree. i have a friend with synaesthesia. he sees shapes when tasting. he makes wonderful beer.
 15. nice gig ! lucky man.. wish i lived near, enjoy it ! it's a long way off, but if i find a way, i will.. i reckon you'll show them up...
 16. a (belated) welcome. life in basschat-land has been a bit of a soap opera for the last couple of days, so don't think your post was ignored ! hope you enjoy it.

 18.
I'm currently rendered pretty much unable to play due to a nasty infection in my right index finger that's needed two courses of antibiotics to deal with it. My fingertip is incredibly tender, so fingerstyle is out of the question. I've switched to using a pick, but even that's too painful when I grip and, especially, when the edge of my index finger inevitably hit against a string. Has this happened to any other members? I have a few big gigs in a few weeks so whilst i would probably be well advised to simply leave the instrument alone, I feel obliged to do some practicising. Can you get spray on replacement skin or similar to cover up affected area? EDIT: I'm now trying the Eddie Van Halen approach and gripping pick between thumb and middle finger. Feels very weird.
this happened to me !! but in my thumb, from slapping too hard ! i had antibiotics and a sling (to drain the infection away from the arm) sorry, no suggestions, except fretting exercises to keep your other hand supple.. edit : oh, i did once hear that flea used super-glue to fill in the hole in his thumb. could just be an urban myth, but i have heard of it used in injury treatment.
 19. a fellow bc'er who's got great strength and versatility in his playing.. my sort of scales too..
 20. some very hot playing there..
 21.
PS Thanks to all for your guidance For now Tim
it would be callous of me not to plug my (& your) local shop,,,. Live Music , Peterborough. - Paul is a diamond and an awesome drummer.. the gimp in the cellar  is Nick Smith, who's currently teaching me to play like a gentleman, instead of a philistine. doctor_of_the_bass to you. I seriously recommend him..
 22. hmmm.. must be an 'acquired taste', like coldplay or something..
 23.
Sorry can't read your links as they are blocked but L.A's Ozomatli are a great Latino funk band. Also look up Sargeant Garcia, Joao Bosco (some of his stuff will appeal), Caetano Veloso (A Luz A Tieta).....
thanks for those. am now checking out... what blocks ? work computer ? or have i made mistakes ?
