1. 6 to 9 months I guess it is then. Cheers dude
2. I've got hold of some pretty green ash, and I'm wondering, do I need to have it kiln dried first, or can I work with it green? I'm told its nice to work with green but I'm not sure Thanks guys Will
3. That JazzisionMan looks incredible, I want it for some reason Where are these basses?
4.
The real thing, not a replica please
Hello...moto!? For myself: Fender Jazz DoubleBuck with left handed neck Mitsubishi Legnum VR6 manual with full sports exhaust system 1lb of C4 to say goodbye to the worlds sh1test Peugeot 306 Mesa bass rig Gabriella Cilmi, Pixie Lott and Kiera Knightley (sloppy seconds?), a four poster bed, a months hotel stay and a Mars bar... battered
5. Mmmm, Mosrite copies
6. Bought my cab. Had a good chat, nice guy to deal with
7. I just got off the phone to Andertons. The pre-amp in my Corvette $$ is rather fried, not much idea why. They've sent it to two techs and nothing, so it looks like a new pre-amp. Any ideas? I'm a fond believer in versatility, and ease of install, seeing as I'd prefer to do it myself. I've got 4 holes to fill, preferably active/passive, either via switch of push/pull. I've had a look at John East, which many on here are fond of, but any others that would do a good job? Tone wise I'm on just about every end of the scale - dub, distorted, funk, rock Anyway, any ideas/advice would be appreciated Cheers Will
8. I don't mind it to be honest, but to be honest Steve I play sitting down mostly anyway. HOWVERE, it really isn't that heavy (or I'm just a young buck ). I just listened to your myspace, I'm taking it to a jam with a guy I was in a dub band with a while ago. I'll let you know how it fits in the mix. The only thing thats a bit suspect is the blocks on mine, they're remenisent of those stick on jobbies that were available from GSR Guitars. But really you dont notice them
9.
Do you mean awesome for £100 or just plain awesome ? I'm interested to know how it compares to the Squire Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified jazz basses. Also how does the pup switch affect the sound ? Thanks.
Im afraid I've played neither, although I picked up a VM precision in Andertons and personally I'd say the ProBass felt nicer. Sorry I can't give a decent comparison, but the ProBass is a lovely sounder, its got that Jazz Bass growl with rounds on it, but a solo neck pickup gives quite a convincing dub/reggae sound with the tone rolled off. The series/parallel switch seems to give a more delicate precision sound, less thump. Its a shame they aren't in the shops, I had to buy mine on a whim and luckily it came out a winner.
10.
I could only find this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RED-JAZZ-BASS-ProBas...=item2c51ccbe9a The series/parrallel switch is a nice addition.
Yep, thats the one! Seriously good bang for your buck and pretty nice bloke too, bass rived with a nice setup
11. that Vigier is georgeous! Some very lovely basses there!
12. Those ProBass ebay jobbies are awesome, and only £100 brand new, very good quality. it looks like they're the same build/plant as the SX guitars, which are very highly rated in the bass community. I've got a vintage modified jazz and its lovely
13. Very fond of them, although the neck dive is a bit of a pain. Nice beefy tone too
14. Mmmmmm, gorgeous Bump for an outstanding bass. Mine might soon be in this position too
15. Seems a very good deal on that Ray considering I saw a brand new one in Andertons for £100 less
16. Check the ground wire under the bridge? Or there may be a seperate one int he control cavity screwed in to the carbon paint maybe? The fact it stops when touching metal components makes it sound like a grounding problem
17. Definately check out Toast Machine! Couple of guys in a funk duo, they're awesome, really know how to keep you hooked even with no vocals These guys are pretty awesome www.myspace.com/bottlenosedolphins and www.myspace.com/falenizzahorsepower
18. I've owned: Ibanez starter bass Epiphone Thunderbird Cort GB34a (still own - defretted, refinished, no curcuitry) Gibson RD Artist Tobias Toby Pro 6 Yamaha BB1100s Warwick Corvette $$ (still own... for now ) in transit: ProBass Jazz copy (project bass)
19. I'd love to know if anyone on here's ever played a Wishbass. or bought one...
20. Whack an angle grinder on it mid-set. That would be truely metal
21. Playing an open mic in Littlehampton at the Dolphin I think, and my dub band and I are pretty s**t hot that night (possibly copious amounts of London Pride being the reason). We finish the show and an old codger comes over and has a chat. The mans either rather pissed or on something, because inbetween telling us how fantastic it all was, he compliments us on the 'light show' that was being beamed between our eyes every time we changed key etc. Happy to say that man was our biggest fan.
