1. I'm tempted by the Big One, but if I had to come and collect it from Newcastle the cost of petrol would make it nearly £675! Almost as cheap to buy a new one!! Anyway - good luck!
 2.
if I was going to sell a faulty bass to someone I think I would pick the most laidback person I could find, in the hope that they would just 'accept it' and get it sorted themselves without informing anyone
Eeek! That's bordering on the libellous surely?! None of my business of course, but....
 3.
I also doubt that it was £549 new.
Where does it say that?
 4.
I played for 20+ years with very little 'knowledge' of 'how' I got my sound.... and it was none the worse for it. Over the past 12 months it has almost become an obsession.
Ditto. It's interesting, but it doesn't make me feel good, I have to admit!
 5.
I think it's a Horner.
6.
This has been a bestseller at our shop. Comes with a DVD, too. http://www.musicroom.com.au/en-AU/se/ID_No...77/details.html
And some tissues presumably!
 7. "As preview copies of the new Ann Summers catalogue are released, concerns are raised about portability and discretion..."
 8. Wasn't someone on here using that first one as their avatar until recently? Or they may still be. I rarely notice pictures of naked ladies myself....
 9.
Tbh, to me, that sounds like a guitar :/
To me too! Sounds like the Chuckle Brothers now!! That clip does nothing for me. I can see that it is technically challenging, but I wouldn't want to listen to it and I have no desire to be able to play like that. Horses for courses!!
 10. What are the two small pieces of Gaffa tape covering on the lower front face of the power amp?
 11.
WHO? ...and your looking for this kind of band in Newcastle! A tip from a resident North Easterner; learn a bit of Thin Lizzy and Free, then Robert's your Mother's brother... you'll be a part of the NE music scene.
Don't tar us all with the same brush though... I've heard of TWO of those aforementioned bands!!! You're dead right about the Free covers though! HUNTAAAAA!!!!!
 12.
Ive always stayed away from Markbass cabs, but their new Club line seems interesting for portability.
Jesus! You've already got more gear than a reasonably-stocked music shop kidda!! You gotta stop doing this, or there'll be no gear left for the rest of us!! Oh, apart from Ampeg of course!!
 13.
SOLD PENDING PAYMENT
DAMN!! I mean, thank goodness - temptation has been removed!!
 14.
Everything I hate in bass playing, can be seen here.... Slapping, horrible tinny tone, coffee table basses with more than 4 strings, musical masturbation.
+100!!!
 15. The drummer has more groove in his islets of Langerhans than either of those "bass" players... And yes - that is the most horrible slap tone I have heard since about 1986 when everyone was trying to "be" Mark King and music shops sounded like typing pools. Apologies to our younger members who won't understand that last analogy!! Typewriters are what people used to write with between pens and computers...
 16. David Margen. Great tone. Distilled and bottled Precision... to me anyway! I ain't no Fender connoseur! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2DXAJboMu4...feature=related And the studio version... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jdl2RwDMPOM...feature=related
 17. So... with less than one minute remaining on the auction clock someone bid £150, which was the reserve price. Mixed feelings I have to admit! Pleased it's sold, but disappointed it didn't make more money... Clearly it's not a seller's market at the moment! Charla, if you'd offered me £150 cash we could have both had a great deal!! Such is life I guess.
 18. Thanks for posting the Julian Crampton stuff. When i was (much) younger I was massively into jazz-funk and loved Incognito, but I never knew who the bassist was. What a player! Cheers!
 19.
So, I will have a wee ask around at Strung Out today to see if they have packaging but it looks like if anyone wants the bass, they'd have to buy the hard case too. I was not keen on doing that but if that's what it takes... How do people feel about that and does that mean I add postage plus the price of the case to the price? Thoughts? Thanks for your patience.
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, it IS possible to post the bass without the case. "Dismantling" it simply means taking the strings off and then unscrewing the four (I assume) screws/bolts that attach the neck to the body. This will reduce the size of the package and may save costs.... Anyway. My ebay auctions look like being unsuccessful again, so unless someone on here buys either of my basses I can't afford this. I'll re-phrase that: Mrs Conan won't allow me to INCREASE the number of basses I own when the whole point is to REDUCE it!! Shame, as I really like the look of this bass and as i could meet half way it would save you the problem of disassembling and packing it!!
 20. Don't suppose you fancy a five string? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=72580 Chuck in your case and I'd be happy to do a direct swap! Meet up halfway between Newcastle and Glasgow... which would be around, er - let's see.... Hexham I think?
 21.
If anyone could tell me how to post a bass without a case...
Just had a Squier Strat ( ) posted to me by NJE.... who did a brilliant job!! Take the neck off for a start (or a strat!!). Pack both bits in plenty of cardboard, cloth, bubblewrap - whatever you have handy! Loads of tape to hold it all together... Sorry if I'm giving away your trade secrets here Nathan!!
 22. God, I LOVE that colour!!! Great price too. I'm tempted...
 23.
This is one hellofa bass, for sure. Amazing it hasn't gone yet. Just close your eyes and you can think you are playing some Alembic but your wallet is much happier with this one.......
I know. Makes you wanna weep doesn't it?!
 24. That's an absolutely beautiful bass!! Good luck...
 25.
That's cheap! Why isnt this gone?
I have no idea mate! Its a great bass but I just don't use it any more. But although I'm keen to pass it on, I'm not going to GIVE it away... Wrong time of year maybe? Although top-end instruments seem to be changing hands
