  1. Did the strings you heard sound like flats or rounds? Elites Groundwound definitely air on the side of flats. Havent tried their rounds but the may well also follow the same silk colour scheme?
  2. Elites groundwound and flats both have this colour scheme

  4. Price drop to £900 collected as something nice, p bassish and 4 stringed has popped up
  5. Ive tried all number of pedals and 'tube emulated' heads, in my humble ive yet to find something that cops the EXCAT feel and tone of a valve head. I get the 'in a band context' thing too but to get a real all valve sound you need an all valve head in my opinion
  6. Internal shot for anybody interested. Does give an idea how clean the amp is condition wise
  7. Just one further gratuitous filth pic...
  8. Ampeg SVT II - often referred to as the “non pro” as it came before the current SVT 2’s but this is a different beast with a older better (in my opinion) pre amp that is much closer to the SVT’s of old. In excellent cosmetic and working condition. Revalved by myself around 4months ago so good to rock. Previous owner (Big Fish Rentals, Manchester) had this regularly serviced by local valve legend Roland Lumby. Its has been hardwired to run at 4ohms so the previous ohm selector switch for 2ohm/4ohm has been replaced with a speakon connector. Can be seen and tried in my Bolton mancave with your bass/cab or mine. Comes with a roqsolid dust cover Engaging the graphic EQ does bring a little hum. Apparently this is standard but to be honest i never use it anyway. Postage not an option im afraid but could meet up within reasonable distance Trades/part ex. Im after a decent lighter hybrid amp so would consider the following amps with cash top up:- Ampeg SVT III non pro Mesa Big Block 750 Warwick Tubepath 5.1 Handbox r400 L

  10. I have an original made in USA b50r and its absolutely a tone monster. A very ‘valvey’ vintage sound and quite loud for its 50w 1x12 stats.

I often use my B50r for smaller gigs, awesome tone!
  12. right so P&P will be around £15 to UK by the sounds of it. Been also asked about trades - while cash is king i would consider swap/part ex for an Ampeg SVT III non pro (has to be the non pro version) with cash top up if needed from me. Still much prefer sale
  13. Had a few messages regarding postage. Will attempt to get some firm P&P quotes this week. I have plenty of bubble wrap and the case is substantial enough to take postage without an additional cardboard box
  14. If you are set on ashdown keep an eye out for used 220 or 330 spyder combos in the 1x15 format (think the 220 maybe 1x12). As a die hard all valve fan (mainly ampeg) I absolutely LOVED the ashdown Spyder series
  15. Did you notice much/any change in tone doing the bridge change? My bass looks much better with the gold but I swear it has lost some “umph” or “depth”
  16. So the gold hardware came today. Loving the look compared to the previous Chrome that the bass came with
  17. Just as a quick update. Despite my thread waxing lyrical about the GHS Pressurewounds i managed to snap a G last night!!! Being previously a full time flats user this mist be the first string ive snapped in years! As such this is now strung up with my previous favourite non-flat strings - Elites Groundwound. Still sounds monumental
  18. So, weighing with luggage scales im getting pretty much bang on 10lb. Obviously not the most accurate way of doing in but in lieu of bathroom scales its as good as i can do
  19. Sure, ill dig out some luggage scales this evening and see what I can do
  20. Quite right! Don't know where I got 80mm from, its just a tad under 40mm
  21. Here we have something of a mystery USA Peavey bass. Its DEFINITELY a Unity bass – meaning its through neck. It ISNT a Dyna bass as only three controls and is passive PJ (though the wiring column in the back does have a dedicated battery section so seems to be off the same production line as the Dyna basses). Some suggested a B-Ninety but they seem to be bolt on necks?? From my full research I’m about 80% confident it is a Foundation Unity bass Ill be honest, it’s a bit scruffy with plenty of swirly play wear and at the heel of the neck it looks like someone has been wearing a proper Lemmy type belt whilst playing. I haven’t had it long and all ive really done to it is stuck some Pressurewounds, a gold bridge (original black also supplied) on it and tweaked the truss. The plan was to eventually upgrade to some active EMG’s or something – there’s plenty of room in that cavity to play with! What got me about this bass is the black glossy curved front to the body that reminds me a bit of the Spector design. Very comfortable neck, nice and shallow with a nut width of just shy of 40mm. A very comfy bass to play and the through neck gives really easy access to the upper frets It would probably buff and clean up even better but it was bought as a project and to be a cheaper version of a Spector (I know, I know) Great USA build and the serial number indicates a 1991 YOB according to the various look up sites. Comes with a substantial and original fitted Peavey hard case Can be tried and heard through my SVT hear in Bolton or could post within UK potentially. Ideally looking for £300 ono collected. Pics to follow asap
  22. Wow, that is quite a difference. Maybe i could sell My old one as scrap to get melted down to cover the cost of a new gold one!
