Damage occurs just as bass_fereet says - if you hear unwanted distortion, THAT's when you have a problem. Simply using cabs with a higher thermal rating does f**k all. My Trace 8x8 rig is a power section of 280W RMS, the internal combo speakers are rated 600W overall, the extension cab a further 240W. I wouldn't be using that set up if there a danger in doing so!

Not sure on the full ins and outs of the GK system but biamping essentially splits the low and high frequency bands so separate amps (and hence speaker systems) reproduce smaller frequency bands which they are more suited to.

It really would be a shame to buy the Hartke just coz of the specs, then go and hear another rig somewhere which is a better sound for you which you could have bought but now you can't coz you have zero money and a rig worth half what you paid new. 2nd hand is really really really your friend. All my amplification, even now when I could quite happily by new, is 2nd hand and is all fantastic. No-one else knows, or gives a sh*t where it came from or how much it cost or what the specs are, they just like it coz it sounds good.

More often than not I use a 1x15 combo on its own against two Marshall Mode 4 stacks. That is doing about 180W. Just becasue your guitarists are using stacks doesn't mean you have to. What about the Eden Nemesis speaker cabs? Those cabs are pretty light and they're the cheaper Eden range. Re. jack-jack cables, do not use a standard guitar lead as a speaker cable. Bad idea (no doubt explained in the wiki). Get Dave (OBBM around these parts) to make you some nice jack-jack speaker cables.

Haven't cranked it yet, but i think the neighbours may complain when I do. That's be tomorrow night

I like Rotos - if I ever have a string emergency again (unlikely with the qty I have at home!) then I'd go to a shop and get Rotos. But I use Status strings coz I like them too, and they're cheaper. Must try one of the many sets of TE strings which I recently bought....
