1. Pictures as promised: And the OD:
2. Picture bump! I've tried to highlight the one body ding, also spotted the A string is a Rotosound, not a Status Hotwire... Naughty boy. Gigbag is a Fender jobby, and I have some spare gold tuners which I'll throw in too
3. FS: AXL Tiger Pro 5 string. I know not a lot about it, as I only got it just before Christmas as a cheapy 5er to tide me over til my fanned fret lovely is finished (hopefully later this year!) Pics will follow (it's in the band lockup along with the TE Dual Comp...) but it's got a nice small body, looks like a sort of flame maple through a yellow finish. Probably isn't though MM and J pickups, Vol, Pan, Bass and Treble controls (active EQ); gold hardware with a pretty nice chunky bridge. When I bought in on fleabay, one of the tuners was silver and the action was higher than Pete Doherty. So, I've replaced the silver tuner with a gold one and given the bass a damn good setup, including my first neck shim (gasp!) plus a new set of strings (Status Hotwires) I gigged it on NYE and it was a great fun bass to play but to be honest something amplificatory has caught my eye and I am more of an amp than bass horder. I can hold off on the five string dream a while longer This is a great first 5 string bass IMO, now it has nice low action and a nice fast neck. I was planning on using it as a project bass, was going to give it black hardware and new PUps and electronics, but like I say, I want a 2nd bass head instead So it's for sale, for only a tenner more than I paid for it (bearing in mind the tuner and strings cost me £25 between them and the work I've put in) and I'm including a gigbag. Price £100 ono plus shipping (would prefer local pickup though). EDIT: original ebay listing can be found here - check the stringing of the B and E! EDIT 2: SOLD SOLD SOLD, ta zephead
4.
If that's the purple BOD100 or similar then it's actually a pretty decent overdrive pedal, including a blend knob. Bargain for a fiver.
That's the one!
5.
My new rig is now complete i won't be able to gig it tonight as I'm waiting for a protective cover for the cab and I need to order a trolley for moving it up and down stairs. I'll probably use the amp and take my trace 1518 tonight
Nice! I like hte new-look MAG cab How do you like the LH500?
6. For Sale - Trace Elliot Dual Compressor pedal. I got this 2nd hand in about 1997 and used it religiously for about 6 years before it got relegated to the "might use at some point again" box coz I bought an amp with an onboard compressor. It's stayed there ever since and I've clung onto it as I love it to bits, but in reality it really ain't going to be coming out any time soon. There's no room on my pedalboard for it, I don't need it live, can't see me being in the studio for a long time and if I were we'd use something far more "studio quality". It comes with an 18V PSU, replaced by TE when I first got it as the original unit was faulty. I've never run it with batteries but I'm sure you could if you wanted to. Condition is OK, nothing special but given its age and use it's no surprise really. These were built like tanks though so although it may be scuffed it's still in fine condition electronically and still worked perfectly when I played around with it around Christmas. I might have the original box somewhere but no idea where I'd find it tbh, but it will be well packaged for shipping to the UK. Pics to follow in the week - it's in the band's lockup and I can't get to it til Tuesday at the earliest I'm afraid. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT EDIT: oh, and I have a Behringer Overdrive pedal FS too, for a fiver plus postage
7.
Using "cog" instead of "gear" I mean.
You mean like this? "My bass cog consists of a Hartke head, a Barefaced cab and some Status basses."
8.
I was just looking at the Trace Elliot catalogue from 2008 I have got and nearly got poked in the eye when I saw a little section of text reading "The AH500-12, AH1000-12 and AH1200-12 will be available as rack mountable head units, these will be the RAH500-12, RAH1000-12 and RAH1200-12 and will fit any 2u 19inch rack unit case" I had quite a large smile after reading that as I was thinking of getting one of the AH1000-12 to replace my GP12 Series 6 at the end of the year but when looking on Thomann and the Trace Elliot website, there was no evidence of these heads being real... much to my disappointment So, can anyone shed any light on whether these heads were ever made or if they know if they're going to be released any time? Thanks guys
I think the best thing to do would be ask TE themselves, if they haven't done it yet then maybe you could get a custom racked head mead by them?!
9. Cool! V interested to see how you get on with the Little Bastard, if i had the money I'd have one of those. Might know someone who'd take the 5-15 or Boxer off your hands too, so let me know - will be dwon your way on Sat 30th Jan too
10.
Merton's bound to think I'm stalking him cos I'm selling the trace v-type combo he used to own and have gone with the amp he replaced it with as well.
Clearly you're just a man of impeccable taste
11.
haha i no man, i originally did it in the wrong topic area by accident and so i made another one in the right section, and then they moved my other one to the one its in now! so sorry for the confusion. I can't delete posts though :/
Furry muff! Perhaps a mod should lock one to avoid confusion
12. Without wanting to sound rude, do we really need 2 threads about the same amp from the same person, esp when it's not even for sale yet?! Sorry if i'm being a pedantic arse!
13.
Cheers Mert, I stand corrected,I think
Trust me, definitely a late 1990's model, not from the 80's at all I'd love one of these, they sound IMMENSE, but I have neither the space, money or muscles EDIT #2: me being a pedant re. the date doesn't stop this being an awesome deal for an awesome cab btw!
14. I have a funny feeling the Series 6 715 had two speaker outputs anyway... If not maybe it's a 715S, the "S2 meaning "special" or custom-shop? Is it the same width as the conventional 715 or is it wider?
15. Having conversed slightly more with Nik, the time has come to ask: can I have some pics? And is a rackbag/case included (very bloody good deal if it is!)?
16. Lovely combo - good luck!
17.
I was going to get rid of this for an LH500!
Haha! If you hadn't got the Shuttle we could have swapped. Ah well... Let me have a ponder
18. Oooh. Quite fancy one of these again but trying to slim down to buy a house! I wonder if i should sell my beloved LH500..? Hmmm.
19. 19 years to the day since Steve Clark died, I'd say yes. He, Cobain, Layne Staley, Entwhistle amongst many are ones whose deaths I can remember and know exactly where I was and how I found out. Not moved to tears, but moved to remember on anniversaries.
20. Lovely cab at a stonking price! But circa 1998, not 1985 I'm afraid
21.
Anyone gigging a vintage in or around the surrey area soon?
Yes, but not publicly til 13th march. Maybe by then i'll figure out how to play bass properly coz judging by my nye gig i'm rubbish
22. Sorry, should've read your first post properly! Having pushed that combo pretty bloody hard in the past and having modelled the cab in WinISD i think you'd be hard pushed to blow the speaker. It moves a lot but shouldn't be a danger... Touch wood!
23. <ridiculous pedant>Your v-type combo is 250W into 4 ohms<end ridiculous pedant> Ahem. The v-type preamp + poweramp is indeed the obvious choice but the next one i'd say to look into is a Hartke LH500. I spent a fair while this time last year A/Bing your combo and my lh500 into the combo's speaker and the Big One proto. Not a lot in it tbh, especially if you drive the front end of the lh500 quite hard (as i do) it makes a mighty similar noise :-)
24.
Ooo Well. It's served me well. But GAS calls. And its this time of the year so i have to abide...!
What now??!!!!
25.
I've probably posted in this thread too much already, but I am astonished at some of the criticism (explicit or implicit) that is being levelled at Alex. <snip>
+2
