1.
Hi Guys I've been road testing this for a bit now and it's a great amp - LDSP600
Looks v interesting but sadly will be too deep for Alien. Now, if I had the readies that would be the dream match for the Vintage
2.
It might come to that if I can't find anything I like. Trouble is, a lot of the power modules I like the look of won't fit in a 1u enclosure. A
Bugger. I was rather hoping you'd find a brilliant solution which I could then commission a duplicate from
3. Doesn't exist without pics
4. Delberthot swears by his, I guess it depends on the rest of your rig EDIT: the farting on E and B strings might (possibly) be a fudged crossover component which is allowing too much LF through...
5.
I was going to ask the same question, but there is an answer in Nostromo's reply:
But that's a *bit* of a misconceptionespecially regarding bass drivers. Read the wiki
6. Can't you build another Alien special?
7. Just bought Guy's old Peavey DPC750 and couldn't have asked for an easier transaction. Well, I could have done but everything that went funky was Paypal's fault and Guy was a gent throughout and kept me in the loop at all times - can't say fairer than that. Cheers Guy - top bloke
8. Awesome Glad you like this, I've seen them on ebay a few times in the past and pondered pulling the trigger, this has just helped me make my mind up next time I see one
9.
It's not too heavy and has removable castors and a cover as well that i forgot to put in the 1st post.
Certainly not as heavy as the 4x8!! It's about 28kg IIRC, and the castors make it dead easy to wheel about
10. Heavy as hell but a lovely amp. I had it before Matt, have a bump
11. Add an 8ohm cab, you'll move more air which will make more difference to your volume than changing the internal speaker for a 4ohm jobbie.
12.
Edit for the couple of snaps I've added. Mark
Oh my. That's rather spiffing isn't it
13.
A spur-of-the-moment type purchase in PMT music Bristol yesterday. Shiny 30 watt all-valve amp head, plus the LB212 cab. Lovely. With a certificate claiming it to be number 38 of 100, signed and everything. Sounded huge in the shop and easily loud enough for most of the gigs I do. I use a Trace Elliot GP7 SM150 combo for most of my gigs, bar the really big ones or outdoor jobbies, so to make sure it could cut it I tried it back to back with an Ashdown Electric Blue 180 combo, and it was noticably louder, even with the input and output cranked on the EB180. Got it home and plugged it in today- not quite so sure now. The Trace does seem louder by a bit. Hoping it's just the small room reacting better to the trace, Hopefully it can cut it, otherwise it could be a colossal waste of money! Most of our gigs are just pubs with a small PA, so here's hoping. Going to try it tomorrow, and take the trace as back-up. Does anyone else have any gigging experience of these? Do they have the balls for a smallish gig? I'd like to know how you got on with it. Photo's up tomorrow, I'm too tired now.
Remember the Trace volume control is very deceiving, it'll be running pretty much at full whack at around 3 or 4 on the dial! PLus the voicing of the Trace will help. Really really got to get my mitts on one of these little, er, bastards
14.
I'd say about £130.00 o. n. o.
I wish you hadn't said that. Must resist.
15. Looking awesome dude
16.
Are they... If they are, that's why I suggested them being rewired (the speakers in the cabs). ie - rewire each 4ohm cab (2x8ohm speakers) as 16ohm. You could then use each each output on the amp. Or wire them with the correct inputs/outputs so you can daisychain them. it's not rocket science is it?
But Al's cabs are 8 ohm so this argument is all a bit of a waste on this thread! I do see where you're coming form if someone were in the quandry though
17.
(snip...) now i am intrigued about the possibility to series-wire, and what I could gain from this. Both cabs are 8ohm - 4x10 hartke XL and hartke 115XL. The Tour 450 head is designed to run at 450w into 4ohm. I think its about 300w into 8ohm.
Don't bother with series wiring, it'll just increase the load on the amp which will lower the power output to the cabs. Plus it's a pain in the arse to do it when your set up sounds perfect as it is
18.
Add an extension cab and this'll do a full volume rock gig with no PA support easy peasy.
Hell yes.
19. Just so's you all know, Reece is a good guy, friend of mine from school daze back in the 90s Nice bass man, I never saw this in the flesh...
20. How much do you reckon spostage would be? Tempted
21. Gorgeous bass, well done dude
22. The Vintage is about as sensitive as they come. 300W will be perfect for it
23.
Sorry , just posted up the prices - fairly essential when trying to sell something eh ??
Might be easier putting them in this thread rather than a new one tough Good luck with the sale
24. If I win th elottery on Wednesday I'm going to get me exactly the same cab. I love my Vintage to bits so am really keen to have a smaller version (hehe) for the smaller gigs
25. And a photo put of the clamps:
