+1 on Kylie's Fever tour - some killing bass lines there esp Kids Are Alright, Love At First Sight and Come Into My World Open Letter To A Landlord - Living Colour Seal - Self titled album (Doug Wimbish ripping the book up on that one) Some Lisa Stansfield stuff is good and pretty much anything with Paul Young and Pino on No Parlez
Yes.
I've always thought this was a fine Pop bassline
Yes.
  2. The speaker lead will have nothing to do with the amp's ability to drive the valves. (But using an instrument lead is a Bad Idea so good that you're sorting this quickly!) Likewise the 2x 9V batteries has no bearing on the actual output level of the bass. (I know this coz my passive Vester Jazz has a hotter output than my 18V active Status). Therefore more experimentation needed with the LB methinks! Use the Low input, crank th ebass and the mids. Good luck
  3.
Get yourself an old Trace 1518, that's what I used the combo with. An incredible combination and you can pick them up on Ebay for around the £100 mark if you are patient.
+1, or a 1153. Either which way a second 15" will just destroy walls with that combo and you can use the treble control to dial any hi freqs in - you don't need 10s for top end
  4. That is one sexy mofo of a bass. Can I have it for Christmas?

Terrible news, I am a lucky one to have met Si and spent hours discussing websites via PM on here, he was always an absolute gent and a funny dude to boot. Will miss him greatly. RIP Si, my thoughts are with your family and friends
  6. Series 6 GP12 AH200 for £150? Go for it, it *should* be bombproof and if you don'tlike you can sell for the same you paid on fleabay
  7.
is it the ABM series?
Yes. Veritable bargain methinks
  8.
didnt sound like a Trace either which was odd
Not odd, they've designed the new range so it has the classic "sound" there should you want it but they are meant to be a lot more versatile than before. I wonder if it's the US models which are unreliable and the old UK models which are good...
  9.
It's a 600. I know they've moved factories from UK to US because of problems.
If it's a 600 it's almost definitely a US-made one. I'm guessing they do them at the Peavey factory.
  10.

Well I definitely want your V6 now, you clearly don't need it Nice collection dude
  11.
Newer shots:
BOTH of them??? You utter, utter git How do they compare? (And can I have the V6 when you're done with it please? )
  12.
Not to be extra cynical....but does anyway care about the name of a covers band? lol They're all awful....so pick anything and run with it Si (I can say all this because I'm in a very busy covers band with a very generic name....it makes no difference)
+1 My function band has a dead cheesey name - Back in the Day. Why? Coz we play songs from... Bloody awful. But it doesn't stop us getting lots of gigs!
  13.
Have had it for quite a while now! Its the only cab i use and will probably ever use! Never had a problem with the replaced one. It is sturdy enough for gigging and soundwise is exactly what i am looking for! Props to Alex for a quality product.
Sounds like mine - it gets properly abused by our crew in and out of gigs and hasn't got a scar to show for it.
  14. Fretboard now cut: Being glued to the neck: Glued and ready for the next step. Not sure what that is, possibly removing the paper though Spot the zero fret, we like that.
  15. That god-awful Kerry Katona bird lives in the house that the dad of a friend of my gf's owns, in sunny Godstone in Surrey.

Yes please..........

Can't really talk about what we are working on as will be a way off yet but my guess is that you may like one of them
Oh, bugger. Best start saving now
  17. A couple of posts here have alluded to my next question - what's your EQ like?
  18.
You'll be lucky to get anything 1U that size
I imagine the depth is where they put everything that would normally go up?!! Back to Rbbie's post, i've just acquired a Peavey DPC and it's great! Much better (for me) than the QSC RMX850 I had earlier this year dare I say it...
  19.
What a doubting Thomas you are Merton . . . . . so just for you ! ! !
20.
Hi Guys I've been road testing this for a bit now and it's a great amp - LDSP600
Looks v interesting but sadly will be too deep for Alien. Now, if I had the readies that would be the dream match for the Vintage
  21.
It might come to that if I can't find anything I like. Trouble is, a lot of the power modules I like the look of won't fit in a 1u enclosure. A
Bugger. I was rather hoping you'd find a brilliant solution which I could then commission a duplicate from

  23. Delberthot swears by his, I guess it depends on the rest of your rig EDIT: the farting on E and B strings might (possibly) be a fudged crossover component which is allowing too much LF through...
  24.
I was going to ask the same question, but there is an answer in Nostromo's reply:
But that's a *bit* of a misconceptionespecially regarding bass drivers. Read the wiki
