1. Is this one with a "proper" XLR DI or the jack socket?
2.
that looks lovely - I'ld love an ACG - but I like one-wood bodies and simple looking fretboards.
Cheers - I'm very very happy with it. Both my ACGs turned out so far above expectation it's silly, he's a genius
3. Lovely bass with which to start your ACG love affair
4. Women by Def Leppard. Silly song but the outro solo is still one of my favourites as they modulate through the keys.
5. Sub, Drive and Compressor was EVO III so it won't be an early one, it'll be some weird special run of some sort from a few years ago. I saw a black-panelled one with brushed aluminium knobs earlier this year, that was called a Klystron too IIRC.
6. These are great little cabs, have a bump from me
7. They did a re-issue Klystron head about 5 years ago to match with some Neo cabs, sounds like the sort of thing you're describing See this: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KhgMgVIi8qk
8. STP were one of the bands with whom I grew through my teenage years; I was lucky to see VR in 2004 and Scott was incredible. One of the best rock singers of his generation, as easily identifiable as Layne Stayley or Eddie Vedder. Will be listening to a lot of STP this weekend
9.
You're six months out on the date ole chap
Bugger.
10. Bit of an urgent and frankly "unsellable" one this, need someone tomorrow night (Sat 5th Dec) if possible, in Merstham (South East Surrey). The gig isn't glamorous, there isn't very much money in it at all (£50) but it's dead easy standard pop/rock covers fare and the band are wicked fun. Load in around 6-7pm, first set 9pm and I expect a finish no later than midnight. Anyone around? Ta!
11. Sad news, RIP
12. Oops missed that bit, sorry
13. Get Alan @ ACG to build you one. My shorty Finn 4 is amazing
14. Ashdown should be shipping the B-Social very soon I believe. I want one, maybe next year...
15.
Thanks for the kind offer Merton but I'm not going to be able to get to the London show this year.
Bugger. We will find a way! (Alternatively just commission one to add to your tiny collection )
16. Not yet sure I'll be able to make it so haven't committed to buying a ticket - I suspect it'll sell out before I get the chance to know if I can come. If you're heading to the London bass show again I can bring it to that?
17.
Hello Merton, May I have some more info about the 4 string on the left. Looks like the type of bass I'm a big sucker for
Hey! So basically I wanted a P bass but with a shorter scale, not a Fender body shape and with Alan's craftsmanship. So given how awesome my Finn 5 is I spoke to Alan about this and he made it come out 10x better than I could have hoped The spec is: Finn DC Swamp Ash body (2 piece) Maple neck with acrylic impregnated maple fingerboard Overwound PB pickup Volume and passive tone only 32" scale It's ace, plug in and play and off you go with a superb tone and very easy playing neck. Love it
18. Good work, looks like I'm too late to the thread to add my 2p that I think they are the best basses I've ever owned. Granted neither of mine have the fancy preamps but they both do exactly what I wanted them to do and (IMO) look just as good as the more fancy ones:
19. My pair of Finns - they deserve some better photos (not to mention a better player owning them) so will get that sorted soon when they are safely in their new home
20. So here's the little secret, classic line style red cloth grille...: Obviously the red grille changes the tone immensely I also took the time to stick wadding in the cab as it was unlined. This has tightened up the bottom end and focused the mids, well worth the effort.
21.
I hope it gives you some comfort to know it's gone to an owner who loves it very dearly!
Damn straight! Hopefully I'll get to come and see you guys play next year and hear it again too
22.
A high pass filter with no resistive load can present an impedance load approaching zero at high frequencies, which can cause high frequency oscillation in the amp.
Cool. They have now been completely removed from the circuit
23. Thought I'd give this a go with my Ashdown RM210 cabs. The tweeter and simple (series) RC crossover is is parallel with the main drivers so I can't see an issue with just chopping the wires at the tweeter end on this particular cab. Will take the RC crossover out too at some point just to be safe though...
