  1. So Mike received the pickups from me (finally, haha!) and has finished the work routing them. He’s done a quick mock-up with the bridge and controls in place to check how it all fits... pretty perfect methinks 😎
  2. Let me know what you make of the headphones. I have a pair of wired M-Ears and was wholly underwhelmed at first. All the ear bud sizes supplied were useless -they kept falling out and to top it off the sound was terribly thin and lacked any bass. So I bought some nice memory foam ear buds and lo and behold they sound quite marvellous now. And don’t fall out
  3. Love these basses, I’ve owned four and wouldn’t hesitate if I had the money. I had the very last “real” Groove ever made, a fretless with a wooden neck and refer having to sell it to find other “grown up” things a few years ago. Rob made three more after this with a graphite neck but they don’t count @AndyTravis has the valuation spot on I think
  4. Pure and simple passive, vol/vol/tone. Hipshot Kickass bridge and (IIRC) Hipshot ultralite elephant ear tuners
  5. At long bloody last! Good news
  6. No idea how you missed it, it’s not like you’ve been busy fettling your own bass builds is it 🙄😜😃
  7. Well the pickups ended up being delayed again from Bass Direct so they’ve kindly refunded me and I’ve found some in Holland which are on their way over. Meanwhile Mike and I have sorted the scratch plate design and Mike’s started on the neck and fingerboard:

  9. Very nice! I almost snapped up those cabs a few weeks ago when Andy was selling me his Ashdown LB30, luckily for you (and for my wallet and marriage!) I didn’t Great little rig, love it
  10. Quite an amusing story but for the losses the venues have no doubt made!
  11. Glorious!
  12. Yup it’s not bad at all, reminds me of a cross between ash and alder. I’m sure someone with more knowledge will give me a better comparison!
  13. @Cosmicrain is flying through this - more progress shots! Body contoured and edges rolled, rear cavity finished off and the neck screw holes are done. The basic neck blank is cut and now we await the pickups to do the routing for them
  14. You may have gathered my phone is helpfully posting the images in reverse order.....
  15. More pics! Mike said he needs the Nordstrand pickups in the next fortnight or so, so I’ve chased Bass Direct (I did a big order because of two other projects I’ll show off next year!) - here’s hoping they get them soon...
  16. Chris, I’ll look after all the ones you decide you don’t need 😎
  17. Some pictures of wood! Basically it’s just the body blank being stuck together and one pic shows the template with the pickup positions too. Mike has done all the internal work on this as well now so all the wiring cavities and control cavity are carved
  18. Pure class, this. Lovely bass
  19. Nice!
  20. The One10s sound anything but thin, in my experience
  21. Nice article! I remember the first Big One being loaded into the boot of my Ford Focus, delivered by Alex on an excursion from his day job at the time. Apart from a dalliance away with Ashdown when I needed some cash I’ve been a BF user since 2010 and absolutely love their Super Compact and One10 cabs. Happy birthday Barefaced
  22. Agreed, Ashdown got this range spot on IMO
  23. Gorgeous bass Ralph
