  1. Both of my stingrays are very high output so with the standard 12AX7 now with the very low gain 5150 I can open the gain up a lot more, might be a bit low for some but works for me
  2. My Orange Terror 1000watt. Since I swapped out the tubes for some low gain 5150’s it a completely different beast, a lot more manageable and no so in your face and for the very basic controls makes it easy to quickly dial in a nice tone. Second up, still pretty basic is the Genz-Bens Shuttle 600watt. This head never fails to sound good what ever it’s plugged into, my only regret is not getting the 900watt version (I’m actually after a second one if anyone knows of one going at a reasonable price pm me)
  3. Hate might be a bit of a strong word but my least favourite bass I’ve ever had I still own. Fender Jazz D model. Then it comes time to play it and it’s not that bad actually 🤪
  4. I’ve only got flats on one of my basses, Jazz with EB Cobalts, I’m not really a flatwound person but theses to me sound great, quite bright for a FW but nice and thumpy too Ive also got a set of Daddario Chromes waiting to go on my acoustic bass. But that’s another story
  5. See Stingrays perfect eye candy 🍬
  6. There are a quite few basses out there that are much loved by there owners and sound great but personally I wouldn’t go anywhere near for no other reason apart from don’t like the way it looks
  7. Hook on the board, soft loop bit on pedals. Don’t know why I do it that way around. Possibly cause for what ever reason I had more of the one than the other ?!?!?! 😜😂🤪
  8. Setting up laptop 🤪 initial installation (I really am a little on the slow side regarding technology)
  9. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142912289711 im eying this up, included software looks good
  10. Thanks to everyone who has given advice so far. I’m reading and doing as much research as possible. I’m going to be setting new laptop up soon as get chance (looking forward to that about as much as I’m dreading it 😜) and on the look for an interface next stop. Headphones or stereo (I’ve got a decent hifi but as I’ve read not ideal for recording purposes as it will tend to cover up things you might want to adjust but I’m guessing that I’m light years away from being able to tell the difference so all good for now) im I right in saying that most brought new interfaces will come with some sort of get you started DAW ?
  11. I set one of my stingrays up every now and again BEAD with out too much hassle. Just need to make sure the heavier strings are sitting snug in the nut slots then set intonation/neck relief accordingly job done.
  12. Warwick Alien Acoustic. Everything else is 34
  13. Windows. (Don’t know what version. It was new at Christmas and It’s still in its box.....)
  14. Ok thank you. Send me a pm with details
  15. Thank you. I’ll get on with reading ASAP. Thanks for your help
  16. I’ll keep it short but basically I was luck enough to get a nice new laptop for Christmas. So I’m looking for I don’t know what. I need education. What I’m wanting to do is to be able to plug my bass/guitar into my computer and have some sort of recording software that will allow me to record ideas and forward them onto band members. It doesn’t have to be pro level gear. Of course if the software has rough drum tracks and the option of the odd effect here and there bonus. I really don’t know what I want or need or what it’s likely to cost so any replys you are talking to mr clueless in this department so please be gentle 😜 thanks in advance

  19. Suppose it would be a lot easier to rectify the situation with a hipshot than with out......, still don’t like em though 😜
  20. After reading another thread about acoustic bass strings, I’ve always had bronze on my acoustic, mine are coated so no finger noise but after recently playing a gig with it (not the sort of bass you play every day) the realisation of how clunky and noisy they are hit home. I’ve got s set of chromes waiting to go on anyways.
  21. In between the volume and tone pot, small on/on/on switch. Not got a photo on phone I’ll sort one out at some point
  22. If you have never tried one give it a go, mine retrofitted so no extra holes to drill or leave exposed when/if you take it off. I personally didn’t get on with it. Just a gadget to do a job that I can do with out one. There are enough people who do like them so guess they have a purpose
  23. Right at the start he listed a load of companies that he approached who for what ever reason were unwilling to participate in the test MXR was one
