  1. Ahh sorry my bad 😁 He’s a monster of a bassist Rogier Van W isn’t he!
  2. **Reduced to £450 including delivery** For sale is my Lakland Skyline 55-01 five string bass with Bartolini Mk1 pickups & preamp. Excellent condition - £495 inc UK delivery Edit: Weight (digital bathroom scales method as that’s all I’ve got!) is 4.3Kg which is 9.46lb - it’s not a prohibitively heavy bass at all (I’ve had heavier 4st Fender Jazz’s!) but it’s a 5 string bass, and so unless they’re chambered or something they tend to be north of 4kg This bass is super comfortable to play with the awesome neck you get on all Lakland’s, and the 35” neck gives a great sounding B string. It sounds excellent - you get a decent approximation of a P bass towards the front pickup, more of a PJ sound at centre and then you can go towards the back pickup to dial in some of that funkier sound or all the way back for a Jaco type tone. Decent 3b preamp too which is pretty hot, you don’t need to boost or cut it much to get what you need, but the more extreme end is still useable - full treble cut sounds like the rollback on passive tone etc. This bass is basically a super clean 5 string you can take to literally any gig and make it work - it’s a real quality bass (with fantastic mod potential too! Some great pickups such as Nordstrand Big Stacks & Aguilar Big Singles etc slot straight in!) ***I bought this bass recently from another BC’er and he gave me a really good deal on it - I am only selling it because I have the opportunity to buy an absolutely top end, amazing dream bass at a ridiculously good price and I need the cash. If that bass sells, or I manage to sort something else out in the meantime I’ll take this down, as I would prefer to keep this! I’m listing it for what I paid plus postage, but it’s not going to be up for ages - it’s either going to sell or be withdrawn in a week or 2, and for this sort of bass it’s a genuine bargain!*** ***REDUCED TO £450 (Inc Delivery!)*** (No Trades!) Couple of decent videos showing the tone/sounds of 55-01 👇 PICS 👇
  3. Ah I’ve been watching you on YouTube for ages - didn’t know you were a member on here. I’ve not heard anyone create a better bass tone than you when playing 👌🏼
  4. I can’t believe this is still here for the price of a used MIM?! 🤯 I am potless currently and have promised my next chunk of money to several basses I can’t afford already. Still you never know… 😁
  5. John East 2 band J-Tone onboard preamp for Jazz Bass Volume/Volume (Stacked) Bass/Treble (Stacked) Passive Tone Control (Works in active & passive mode - push/pull for active/passive) Bass and treble frequencies can be adjusted separately very easily with dials on circuit board Includes plug in tone caps for different value of capacitor for passive tone control Taken off a bass I bought (replaced it with the 3B J-Retro) Absolutely fantastic & versatile preamp, turns a passive bass into an active bass without need to modify *Reduced £100 inc UK delivery*
  6. Do you ever get down near Chester le St? I’m not driving currently but I’d have the last set of GHS’s off you, unless you wanna post them?
  7. Does anyone with the Z3 know if the music man control plate fits straight in like Jazz control plates do? It looks like it probably “should” from the videos, but that means nothing. I find the 20hz bass frequency on the Heritage preamp makes it pretty rubbish, but could get on board with the idea of sticking a John East pre on it 😁 I’ve always loved how Sire’s feel/play and the Z3 tempts me (which, tbf, isn’t that difficult)
  8. Recently bought a pedalboard/bag from Peter at a great price, really happy with it! Super comms & fast delivery - couldn’t ask for any more tbf, comes highly recommended by me
  9. Bought a John East preamp from Aidan, super quick getting it to me, great comms - all you could ask for when buying something on here. 100% recommended 👍
  10. The J-Retro preamp is absolutely fantastic, turns a standard Jazz into an absolute beast - I bet this sounds awesome
  11. I’ve owned both, I prefer the Lakland in terms of playability and sound. Ones passive and ones active however so there’s a fair difference (my Lakland is now active tho tbf). The Cort is very modern sounding, and it definitely IS a great bass, you won’t go far wrong with it, but for me the Lakland sounds tremendous and I much prefer playing it, altho even with a preamp in its more traditional J Bass than the Cort. The reason I changed the Cort was cos it felt a bit too modern and zingy for me, even tho that is exactly what I liked about it when I got it, after maybe 10-15 gigs it had worn off. I change basses like I do underpants sometimes (up to twice a month 🤣) but I’ve not been happier with a bass than I am with the Lakland - YMMV
  12. Do these pickups light up like the Sims pickups do when they change diff modes?
  13. Just a note - it’s just a Fishman made battery compartment, it’s the same on Lakland Skyline’s (44/55-01 & -02 at least). It’s likely a G&B preamp or something similar - doesn’t really matter but just thought I’d let you know. Shows the quality of these Cort instruments, as Cort make the Lakland Skylines in tne same factories with a lot of the same bits as the Corts
  14. I’m not quite sure what the difference is bar an extra fret, however it does mean that they’re now selling the Will Lee preamp as a standalone item, where u can boost the mids at 500hz or 800hz (a frequency I generally only like to cut). The Red one looks absolutely lovely, but I’m being disciplined - for £900-1000 on a good day on here you can pick up a Dragonfly or an SEi etc - something that cost £2k+ new, so there’s no way I’m splashing almost a grand on one. However I really like them, I fancy the M 5-string (MM pickup only) or the MM/J 5 string, and I could happily have a PJ5 and JJ5, but I’ll be waiting till they come up second hand - if I have £900-1000 to spend on a bass I’ll not be buying new WILL LEE PREAMP (£219): https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/sadowsky-parts-active-will-lee-electronic-w-rfip-vol-bal-tone-p-p-tb-assembled-on-control-plate-w-mini-switch/
  15. TBH one of the main things that makes Sadowsky’s what they are is the very recognisable Marcus Miller-esque sound you can get from the preamp, on paper the Aguilar OBP-2 is voiced the same but it doesn’t quite have the same mojo a Safowsky pre does. John East pre’s are a different kettle of fish altogether tho!
  16. I hadn’t thought of that 😬 Looks like you’re gonna have to buy a Lakland DJ4 or DJ5 😂😂
  17. It’s certainly the DJ control knobs - what I would do is buy a standard jazz control plate (they’re only a Couple of quid) and transfer all the pots etc onto it, should be easy enough I think
  18. I might be wrong, however I’m pretty sure that the one you have got there is the DJ-Retro preamp made specifically for Lakland Darryl Jones signature basses that have a longer, slightly slimmer body than normal Jazz basses - where’d you buy it? (Photo below from website 👇 The DJ-Retro is the only one that has two diff colour knobs on the concentric pots). I’ll swap it for a J-Tone preamp that will fit the Sadowsky if you’re stuck 😁
  19. The control plate doesn’t fit on the bass?
  20. It’s an unbelievably good quality instrument, the notes played on the B string are as articulate with as much clarity as they are on the A string, amazing neck, - it’s a proper professional’s bass 👌🏼
  21. 2004 Yamaha TRB1005 35” Scale, 5 String, Double Humbucker bass in Caramel Brown Absolutely great condition - hardly any marks on it, it’s 20 years old so it’s not brand new but there’s barely a mark on it. It’s a truly stunning bass - finished in Caramel Brown, it looks and sounds like a boutique bass, with the top end Yamaha craftsmanship on display with the quilted maple decorative veneer over the maple top This is a proper professional bass in terms of looks, sound, playability & features, inc. the following: - 35" extra long scale length (889 mm) - Alder body - Maple top with quilted maple decorative veneer - Sixfold bolt-on five-piece maple-mahogany neck - Rosewood fingerboard with oval inlays - Two Yamaha hum-cancelling pickups with Alnico V magnets - Active 3-band EQ - Yamaha 5-saddle brass bridge & Yamaha die-cast tuners I bought this from BassBros a month ago on impulse, but I’m not really going to gig it. I have 2-3 basses I already use that are ahead of it for the gigs I could use it for, and I’m in dire need of a P or PJ bass for some up coming work that I’ve just been offered, so I’m taking a hit to get a deal done quickly! £595 includes U.K. delivery This is an absolute steal for one of these. especially in good condition like this - I paid more than this for it, and it has probably been in my hands for less than an hour, and hasn’t left the house! I am really after a sale but will possibly listen to trades VIDEO/SOUNDS 👇 Decent little demo video I found on YouTube 👇 that gives a great idea of the sounds is produces: PICS 👇
  22. Just checked this out on a YouTube video as I hadn’t heard of it - wow, I’m well impressed it sounds great. I might be back to you for this
  23. I haven’t read the whole thread but Sire P5 and P5R’s (rosewood board instead of roasted maple and slightly improved pickup on the P5R) are astoundingly good value for money second hand. Better than a lot of much more expensive stuff, and the 5 string version is great too if it’s your thing - great B especially for a passive.
  24. That’s an awful lot of bass for £500 - I nearly forked out £200 the other day just for the pickups that are in this! 😁 I really rate Cort, they’re a massively underrated brand that doesn’t get the kudos it should
