  1. I’ve just got one of these and it’s epic, you literally can’t sound bad through it. Well worth the money
  2. Ahhh I’ve got you I hadn’t realised - that’s not actually an issue for me anyway as I have a dedicated DI. Payday isn’t till mid month, but let me see what I can sort out cos I really like the sound of these
  3. I really fancy this..! What’s the difference between the older and newer versions?
  4. I bought this bass brand new and then about 6 weeks later put it in PX with cash for his Ray35 in natural gloss - I can confirm the bass didn’t so much as leave my home studio ever until I dealt it, so it’s only 3-4 months old. Absolutely MINT bass, honestly even if you ignore the fact it has an omega badass bridge and ultra lite tuners it’s still an absolute steal, the neck is so nice to play and it has an immensely fat & funky tone, I had no intention of letting it go except I play in a Chic tribute and had been on the lookout for a Natural coloured Ray35 for months (that I could actually afford!) and so I couldn’t pass it up when offered the chance to get it I know people come on these threads and wax lyrical about basses they’ve had etc, but I said the same yesterday when someone was selling a Cort GB75JJ - these basses are absolutely amazing for the money, I’m a big Sire fan but for me this later GB75J range are something else. I expected I’d want to swap out the preamp and possibly the pickups, but it was spot on. I just spunked £600 on a Sire P8/5 from Thomann B-Stock, otherwise I’d have fully considered getting this back. it’s definitely had an easy life and it’s legitimately a killer for bloody Squier money - or less than Squier money if you look on Facebook Marketplace 🤣
  5. Looks nice that, especially for the price! I’m the same as you, whenever I get a fretless I never really give it the time it needs and end up punting it on. Good luck with it 👍
  6. Bought my ToneHammer DI from me - super quick payer and no messing about at all, top man - would deal with him anytime 👍
  7. Thank you Keir - I hadn’t seen this, appreciated!
  8. Yeh I can see what u mean - it goes nicely before my Tone Hammer DI as that’s 40hz/4khz with sweepable mids as well, so I have a slight boost at 40, a bigger boost at 80, a mid bump around 400 on the TH and cut mids around 900 on the HB, and then I generally leave treble alone, but there’s obviously 2 diff frequencies there too, and the 5k is pretty usable. 10k seems extreme! The HB is really all about the mids IMO and for me I think it’d work quite well with that MB pre & the frequencies it doesn’t cover & for 50 quid new from the U.K. it’s well worth a punt
  9. If it’s the same as the Darkglass HB then it’s 80Hz/5kHz - I really like the bass boost on it, it’s a lot less boomy and punchier than some & I’ve never boosted treble past 1-2 o’clock even when I’m using it live as a ‘slap’ boost pedal with plenty top end needed, it’s a bit like a Sadowsky preamp in that way where the treble sounds nice but you really don’t need a lot.
  10. I’ve got one of these - absolutely bloody brilliant isn’t it! I’ve never used a Darkglass HB so I’ve never been able to say how close to the real thing it is, but it’s an excellent pedal either way. Only gripe is sometimes I have to have two goes to click it on (or off) so presumably that’s the cheap materials but it’s not a big deal and it’s an always on pedal for me generally anyway. I’m humming and ha’ing about giving the D7K Ultra & the ‘Call76’ a go too.
  11. This is another one from the Nile Rodgers Tribute I’m in - it’s a compilation reel of the 5 songs we did for this showreel - the amount of time, effort and £££ that went into producing what was, in the end about 4-5 mins worth of video was a real eye opener! I suppose it’s one of those things that has to be done if you no longer want to be playing the type of gigs where most of the audience leaves before your 2nd set as the Bingo is finished 😉 haha
  12. My first proper proper bass when I was 13 (1995!) was a Samick P Bass with that exact headstock, I only got rid of it last year - they’re really very nice necks, pretty slim for a P (or mine was) but that’s how I prefer them anyway. If this is still kicking about in a couple of weeks I might well have this!
  13. I really want the Broughton HPF/LPF - it’s a while till payday, but if you still have it in a couple weeks then I’ll have it 100% - was gonna order a HPF direct from Broughton then anyway but now I’ve seen this I’ve talked myself into the combined one 😃 If someone comes for it I can’t complain, but if not I’ll PM you when I’m paid
  14. The Orchid Electronics DI box is really, really good and not very expensive either. They do a few versions (micro, mute switch etc) but they’re a real hidden gem. I don’t think you can buy them directly at the website anymore but there’s a link to the retailer on there http://orchid-electronics.co.uk/classic_DI.htm
  15. That’s a really nice bass line - you got the right balance of not being too busy but still making a sweet af bass line, it makes the tune
  16. Couple of me playing bass in a Nile Rodgers/Chic Tribute Band I’m in currently, great fun to play in
  17. That’s where they need to be IMO when the new lot come out, £600-650 tops really, I know they mk1 MetroExpress are being reduced all over. The lack of VTC has started to bug me more and more too, I can just stick an £80 Sadowsky preamp pedal on a passive JB (say a Sire V5) and I’ve got the tone nailed plus passive tone control. They’ll have to be pretty impressive in the build quality stakes to make it worthwhile tbh
  18. I reckon U.K. they’re gonna be £800-850 region, still looking at what I can get second hand (especially on here) with that sort of cash I’ll wait till they’re £500 2/h
  19. There’s a few topics with feedback about Tobiewharton on here, this one seems the most recent. I had the pleasure of buying an MTD Saratoga 5 bass from Tobie that arrived today by courier. I can’t recommend him highly enough as a seller - this was my first transaction on Basschat so I was a bit worried, and it wasn’t for peanuts either (well for what I got for my money it was tbf!) In the grand scheme of things it was a lot of money to send to someone you’ve never met by bank transfer, along with all the worries about delivery etc. He couldn’t have been more helpful all the way though and the bass was in amazing condition. I hope this is how all transactions are on here, but he’s a credit to the forum’s classified section 👍
  20. These are really, really nice! I’ve been drooling over the 5 string ones at Bass a direct for a while now - I’ve heard loads of good stuff about them, it was Basstheworld’s reviews that first put me onto them. GLWTS, that’s a really good price 👍
  21. This! 👆 I feel like it’s basically whatever they are in dollars tend to be what they are in pounds as well (i.e. $599 = £599 give or take) even tho it’s generally $1.3 or more to the pound, and thanks to Brexit 😭🤬we won’t benefit at all from them being distributed by Warwick in Germany The 5 string Jazz is $1,115 (maple f/board) and $1,140 (morado) so I expect maybe £995? If they are that much I’d rather wait for a cheap used MetroLine to pop up around the £1500 mark, which I have seen before, as at £1k they’re creeping out of the bracket they’re meant to be in & £1k gets you a LOT of used bass and I have no real care for buying new. Compared to Fender at £1k they’re good, but compared to what you could get in the classifieds here for example they’d maybe be too much, you might pick a good one up second hand in 6 months tho If they’re priced roughly similarly to the first MetroExpress line then I’ll be in for one come In a couple of months but I have spent the money I had for this now on another bass, I couldn’t wait any longer!
  22. Just got the first song of 5 we filmed for our promo video at The Arc theatre in Stockton. It’s a Nile Rodgers tribute called “Freak Out” - very good fun on bass!
