Nothing wrong with it at all - the Zoom amp sims in particular are really good and now it has a DI it’s literally all you need for a gig, it’s just not what I need right now - if I was a bit more flush I’d be happy to keep it about as it’s got so many uses, but if I’m not gigging with it then I can’t afford to keep it around - too many other things to buy! 🤑 😆

SOLD - Cheers 👍 Zoom B2 Four multi effects unit with a huge amount of effects, compressors, amps, preamps, looper, tuner etc - £125 (can arrange postage) Bought from @Machines on here recently and used for 1 gig but found a different solution so this is straight back up (I paid £140 so I think it’s very fair - still in as new condition). No box but has original Zoom power supply - incredible value for money, and now that Zoom have finally put a DI out on their multi fx units it could serve as a complete solution for your pedalboard as you can run 5 effects simultaneously straight to front of house. It’s an excellent piece of kit, but I was after something very specific and A/B’d with another pedal I decided to go with the other one, and there’s not enough space on my board for it really Some vids/info below for anyone who wants to know more about it - they’ll do a better job than me of explaining the features etc 👇 There’s also a good thread in the Effects forum that’s worth checking out if you’re considering it. Would trade/take part ex for - JPTR Jive Fx, decent Octaver (OC2 or similar like the MarkBass one or other ones based on it), MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe (or potentially a different Chorus - try me), always room for a nice Compressor or Preamp (particularly something like a Broughton Fliptop or Sushibox Slampegg Bee Pre that type of thing), but whatever - try me, I can put money the other way if it’s something I’d use

5 string recommendations for Gospel/Church band

Here’s an idea!…..💡 The Ken Smith Design Proto J was like the Ken Smith version of the Sadowsky Metro Expresses - Check em out on YouTube, they don’t sound bad at all and they get some really good reviews. There was some complaints about them from some people but I think back in the day but that was cos they weren’t that cheap new imported into the U.K - they’re basically a really decent Jazz bass that sound perfect for you & they’re popular with some of the Gospel playing Bass YouTubers from the US like Johnny Lee Long etc. Couple of them here 👇 but there’s loads out there Anyway the 5 string is 35” scale and there’s on for sale on here (that I’ve been tempted by myself several times, but I just don’t really need it - although it doesn’t usually stop me hah) that has been upgraded with a John East 2B J-Tone preamp, which I can tell you from experience is absolutely immense, for only £400!! (The preamp alone is £180 inc VAT and worth every penny) You can then use the remaining money from your budget to stick in some Bartolini B-Axis pickups in, which are absolutely made for your type of sound - you’d then have a very nice 35” scale Ken Smith 5 string jazz bass with a combo of John East preamp & Bartolini B-Axis pickups in it which would sound amazing, and you’d potentially have change from £600, which is nuts! I genuinely don’t know the BC’er selling it but he should definitely put me on commission 🤣 Here’s a video of a guy playing that combo of a John East preamp & Bartolini B- Axis pickups - sounds pretty impressive 👇 -

I’d love an MTD Super! I bought an MTD Saratoga 5 from @tobiewharton last year with all the Bartolini upgrades and it sounds epic, I’ve probably done at least 50 gigs with it and it’s so comfortable to play, but they just sound SO good. Talking of Sharay Reed - I picked up a MIM Fender Jazz Deluxe V made in 2000 for £450 with the Suhr pickups (single pole pieces like Delano often do) and this also sounds absolutely fantastic particularly for your requirements - not massively like a jazz bass but a super modern, clean tone that is perfect for Gospel and was played by Reed in that famous clip. The B string is great, no reason to ‘need’ a 35” scale for a good B, but these Fender Jazz Deluxe 5’s are out there for not a huge amount of money - they’re very good and have the exact kind of tone you’re after (however if you put a gun to my head to choose I’d got for the MTD). Obviously the one I got for that price was “well gigged” 😆 but its great - it came with the Suhr designed preamp separately as it had been converted to passive (so yeh it has an input on the body too) but I’ll either stick that back on or an East Retro on it, but it doesn’t sound like any other Fender Jazz I’ve had - and I’ve had loads. There’s a USA made version too but they’re over a grand usually 😮💨 🔥 🔥 🙌 -

Hell of a bass for the price! - honestly the MTD Kingstons made the last few years are fantastic, and you couldn’t get a more authentic Gospel sound -
I agree with this - absolute max I’d pay for that would be £300, if I was selling it to a friend I’d probably on charge them £250 if that, but you could probably clean it up yourself to make a nice bass again with a bit of elbow grease and a new pickguard

MTD Kingston Andrew Gouche 5 would be absolutely perfect. MTD’s have that proper Gospel sound. There’s a used one on Bass Direct at the mo for £1,399 which is a snip for how good the bass is, and it comes with Bartolini pickups & preamp as stock EDIT - just noticed the budget restrictions. I would still look for an MTD, perhaps a used ZX5 or Saratoga 5 which would easily fall within your budget -

**Final Price Drop until next Sun 28th April and then it’s coming down if it’s not sold - £1,000!!** Shipping available at your cost (can arrange insured shipping for you though) Trades welcomed, PX with cash my way (or potentially with cash your way for the right bass) **EDIT** - As it’s for this week only and I have my eye on something, I am reducing it to £1,000. For a Japanese Sadowsky in great condition. Read that again 👀

Yeh I think some people get confused about the quality of these basses with the Chinese MetroExpress’s, but this is a full blooded Japanese Sadowsky in almost immaculate condition for under £1200! This would have been gone in an hour a year ago haha 😆 I’ve never played a German Sadowsky so any comment made would just be hearsay, but they don’t seem to have the same rep the Japanese ones have
-
These are so ridiculously underrated - it’s only the Mk1 Bart’s I think that have an unfairly bad rep - I’ve played this and the 4 string 44-01 and they feel and sound absolutely class, I hate to use the term but it is a proper “jazz bass on steroids” (excuse me whilst I cringe myself inside out). The East preamp in it will sound ridiculous - as you know I’ve got my eye on this!! 😃

FINAL PRICE DROP: **NOW £1,000** - For 1 WEEK ONLY If it’s not sold by the end of Sunday 28th April I’ll take it down and keep it - this is an absolutely amazing price for this bass, however it’s a buyers market at the moment, but I’ll absolutely take it down at the end of next week if it isn’t sold Poss Trade or PX (either way - see below for trade options ) I have this absolutely lovely 2018 Sadowsky RV4E MetroExpress (the JAPANESE version) 4 string Jazz Bass in ‘59 Burst, weighing in at under 8.5lbs As most people reading will know, the short lived Japanese MetroExpress basses were made to the same spec as the 🇯🇵 Metroline basses but with less options (See: https://sadowsky.com/discontinued-instruments/japanese-metroexpress-basses/ for more info). This bass is every inch a Sadowsky, it looks, feels and sounds as fantastic as you’d expect. It’s really light, comes with the VTC preamp and it is in excellent condition. It’s not perfect - but it’s not far off, there is however a tiny chip out of the finish at the back of the bass by the electronics cavity, but it isn’t noticeable at all really, and not something that should concern anyone but it’d be wrong not to mention it - it’s got zero buckle rash or anything like that, and apart from the minute chip on the back it’s as good as new. There also a bit of discolouration under the pots, nothing major at all but it would be remiss of me not to mention it. I’ve literally just put a brand new set of Fender 7025’s on as well, so it’s ready to roll! This was my “dream bass” for a long time, but when II finally got it I realised I just do not get to play my 4 strings anymore, whenever I gig it is with a 5, and I can’t afford and don’t want to have my best & by some margin most expensive bass the one in my collection I play the least! I have priced this very cheap (for what it is) to sell. Bassbros have one exactly the same but black for £1599 and there’s one on eBay for about that price too, so I think I’ve put it up for a realistic selling price - I am always up for a deal, so give me a shout with what you have and see what we can sort Trades/PX: Definitely interested in potential trades & PX: 5 string Jazz or PJ (Similar standard - Xotic/Sei/Lakland/Fender etc) for a straight swap (or maybe with cash your way for the right thing), but also I’ll take PX with a cheaper bass plus cash I’m actively looking for a nice Lakland 55-01 at the mo (but I’d maybe take a 55-02, 55-60 or DJ5 as PX as well) or a Cort Elrick NJS5 I’d love a Yamaha BBP35, but would look at a BB735a or a TRB1005J. Happy to look at good cheaper basses - MIM Fender, 5 String RSD Ch-adowsky (PJ especially), Charvel San Dimas V, G&L Tribute L2500 - try me and see what can be worked out) I’m happy to do PX plus cash my way - drop me a message and the worst I can say is No thanks Also quite fancy a Jad Freer Capo and I’m after a HX Stomp again, so either/both of these would be acceptable as makeweights in a trade. I think I’m definitely making it fairly easy to do a deal and for someone to get their hands on an absolutely stone mint 🇯🇵 Sadowsky Jazz Bass! Shipping can be arranged if necessary but we can discuss it via PM
