  1. The common reason I hear from people is that it saves your fretboard as they feel rounds will chew the fretboard up without the frets there to protect it. I think this is maybe true if it’s an ebony board but generally I don’t think it’s the problem people think it is. It’s honestly not something I really heard until I started reading online forums & groups where it seems to be the norm
  2. Loads of nice Sire v7 Fretless’s kicking about sub £300, that being said I’ve been impressed with every Harley Benton branded item I’ve ever had, from straps to pedalboards to basses it’s a very good value for money brand which presumably cuts out the middleman and sell direct so they can be so cheap. That Fretless looks nice - the fretboard looks a bit strange but it might be the photo

  4. So these are designed to fit a standard USA 5 String Jazz Bass with the slightly shorter neck pickup and slightly longer bridge pickup. Neck Pickup: 101.6mm Long x 19.6mm Wide Bridge Pickup: 105.2mm x 19.6mm Both have a depth of 21.1mm. Hope that helps, cheers - Paddy
  5. I’ll get them for you today. I wish I’d done the same when buying them instead of assuming they’d fit! 🤦‍♂️
  6. How trimmed are they - do you think I can stick em on a standard 4 in line jazz bass or is the G going to be too short? Cheers
  7. SOLD RIDICULOUSLY cheap for a truly fantastic sounding Classic Jazz Bass Hum Cancelling Bartolini pickups. (Nothing wrong with them but I have a Bass to pick up this week and need the funds - I paid £90 for them and that was pretty cheap for what they are - these are a bargain) Bartolini 57CBJD L1/S1 5 string jazz bass hum cancelling pickups These are the ones with the long bridge and short neck pickup for Fender USA type Jazz basses They sound absolutely amazing as Bartolini pups are apt to do, these are the original classic jazz bass pickups and the clarity and deep low end from them compared to stock Fender & Lakland pickups was mind blowing They have been gigged, so there’s wear on them and a small piece of plastic is chipped off on one of the screw holes on 1 pickup (see pics) doesn’t effect anything tho, they work a treat and have many years left in them! Come in original box with instructions etc cheers 👍
  8. Sire V5-24 5 string fitted with John East J Tone preamp (with passive tone control). Has been professionally setup and frets dressed etc and plays absolutely beautifully - and the John East preamp turns the bass from a 7/10 to a 9.5/10 in an instant, sounds really good I was considering keeping the preamp and selling the bass passive as it came stock, as it’s an amazing preamp but I think it turns this bass into an absolute monster, and so I’ll just let someone else have it like it is - and it really is a hell of a bass Red with roasted maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with block inlays There’s a small chip out the paintwork by the bridge Pickup (pictured) where I tried to fit new pickups but they were too big (pro tip - DONT try and “squeeze” them in, pickups and basses are not malleable 😆) Apart from that it’s as new i can ship it for £25, no trades (well, probably - you never know) I’m only selling this as I’ve got the chance of buying a very specific Fender Jazz Deluxe V which is a bass I’ve been after for a long while, and so I’m very reluctantly having to let this go. I may withdraw it if I manage to raise the funds elsewhere These are £599 new and the John East Preamp is £180, plus it’s had good money spent on it having it setup properly etc - I really think it’s fantastic value for money
  9. DemonFX Super Symmetry Compressor pedal - it’s a clone of the Darkglass Super Symmetry Really good compressor that doesn’t sound any different to the DG one to my ears (plenty of good reviews online too). It’s as new (altho it has Velcro on the bottom which can easily be removed) *Reduced* - £30 inc Delivery. This is a really decent compressor, in as new condition, worth a pint of anyone’s money, don’t think you’ll be at all disappointed! Comes packed in original box
  10. Really decent Autowah/Filter pedal from Eden. Comes Boxed with power supply. This is a LOT better than the price suggests - super solidly made, really great tones, only selling as I’m having a clear out to fund another 5 string jazz 😝 Reduced to £30 inc Delivery! Couple of YouTube demos of the pedal: Pics:
  11. Eden Astroflange Flanger Pedal. These are a lot better than the price suggests but they were sold at Gear4music really cheap for a while, it’s a lot better than the flanger on things like the Zoom B3N and the Boss Gt1B, and for £20 it’s for nothing 😆 Really well made & heavy duty pedal too - Eden make good gear, it’s not cheap sh1te like Behringer etc that will inevitably knack up at a gig *Reduced - Now £20 inc Postage* Comes boxed in original box and packed up so it’ll arrive safely
  12. I prefer the gen 1 neck as long as the decal’s changed - I don’t think I could do it tho. I’ve watched vids that make it look fairly easy but I think it’s one of those jobs you could easily screw up!
  13. I think the Gen 1’s are huge value for money, I’m fairly sure it was only the first batch that was ropey and it can all get sorted out. I really like the new ones but no way am I forming out almost a grand on one - I’ll wait and see if any are going cheaper used in a year, but I think it’s gonna take time for the sales of the new ones to get going as there’s so many cheap decent Gen 1’s about. I know @dub_junkie is a big fan of them Gen 1’s and has said ti me a few times that once you’ve set them up properly they’re absolutely excellent. If I knew how to redo the awful decal I’d probably have 5 of the 1st Gen’s haha 😝
  14. Totally agree - I’ve just done all my money on a Japanese Sadowsky but if I wasn’t spent up then this is a steal 😯
  15. Dimarzio Ultra Jazz are the highest output jazz pickups I’ve had - fantastic clarity and low end too
  16. I’ve played on a few Butlin’s big weekenders, booked in for a couple more in Skegness and one in Bognor Regis this year - they’re really good gigs. There’s always a big crowd who get right into the swing of things and theres usually some other really good acts on to watch as well
  17. I’ve put a deposit on one of these - picking it up next week. Fantastic quality basses, bear no resemblance whatsoever to the Chinese MetroExpress’s they’re much more like the Japanese Metroline’s - super light as well, I think every single one from the range was guaranteed under 8.9lbs, I think the main difference to the Metroline’s was just there were a limited number of options in terms of wood/colour etc, but the quality is just the same. Can’t wait to get mine - fantastic basses
  18. Played Butlin’s Skegness last night - doing a Semi-regular Monday slot there with a Nile Rodgers tribute over the coming season. Decent venue & crowd especially considering the time of year! Rocking my MTD Saratoga 5 just like Bernard Edwards used to play, obviously 👀 😛
  19. Gemma made the mammoth trip oop north to County Durham to do a trade between our short scale basses. Bass is great, whole transaction was easy and she’s a top BC’er - you can deal with her with confidence 👍
