  1. If you ever change your mind on that I’ll take it straight off your hands! I’ve got a brand new Ampeg SGT-Di to trade IF your worry is you don’t want to be left with a di/preamp, but cash is probably king and I’d be more than happy to buy it for that price 👆
  2. Works a treat for that tbf - never used a Vintage Microtubes but the Ampeg has all the features you could want. Don’t get all the nit picking wrong - it’s very very good, I guess it’s just for almost £400 you want it to play your bass for you too 😆 If you don’t mind spending the money it’ll be absolutely perfect for what you’ve mentioned IMO
  3. The M5-24 you had was a real thing of beauty! I think I would use VTC a lot, it makes a big difference I think. The Sadowsky preamp sound is one of my favourite bass sounds, I’ve got the preamp pedal which I use for passive basses to run straight into, and I find myself using VTC a lot there, but the best sound is with no VTC Ope /30-40% Bass & 30% Treble which is the best slap tone ever on a Jazz, and no VTC is needed I suppose.
  4. I’ve already half justified it to myself by saying I’ll stick it on a 4 string Sire V7 I’ve got haha, but yeh it’s a good point, it should still fetch half the price of a new VTC one
  5. Well they haven’t really gone up much, when the first lot of MetroExpress basses came out they were around this price give or take, what I think these are now Is what everyone wanted and expected from the first lot. From what I can gather by speaking to someone I know well over the pond who has one they are very good, and when an entry level MIM Fender Jazz isn’t far off a grand then these look a decent bet. I really wish they came with VTC tho, as I’ll basically have to add £150 for a new preamp for the bass I would want. Still GAS is gonna GAS, and for all my previous talk of not being that bothered……. I realllyyyy want one! 😆 🤩
  6. Bassdirect have 3 new ones in stock now, Fretless PJ 4 & 5 and a fretted jazz 5. £799/£879 (4/5) so a bit better than the dollar conversion price https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/?s=Sadowsky+MetroExpress+
  7. Those look like the Fender Suhr pickups which are absolutely amazing, they always make me think of the mind blowing Gospel videos where they were often playing the 5’er version of this bass with these Suhr pickups in - had such a striking tone, I think if this was a 5 I’d be all over it! Good luck with the sale Edit - I’ve just read the advert properly and you’ve said they are the Suhr pickups 🤦‍♂️ Sorry it’s still early!
  8. Yeh I think the DI has an automatic -20db (or might be -12db), afaik there isn’t a way around this. You could run a Jack out of the headphones output (so you still have cabsim) into another DI if it’s an issue. I found the stock Cabsims a bit messy - try downloading some others (Olympic has loads of decent free ones) see if that helps. I found the C4 synth a real awkwardly sensitive pedal that didn’t seem to take much to turn it to 💩 but it’s worth trying some other cabsims
  9. I’ve gigged mine twice within a week of buying it so I can’t really go and ask for a refund ha! TBF it’s nice to have it there for when I will need it - it’s a lot of money parked into something I am only likely to use properly sporadically but as a bassist that appears to be something I’m especially good at 😆 I am going to order a WR Goliath I think and run a Cab Sim with XLR after it like the Hotone Omni at some point, probably once I financially recover from this little splurge 🥴
  10. I’ve just got one of these - the 3 different volumes thing really is a bit of a pain in the backside to get used to isn’t it?! I don’t like the factory cab sim’s very much either but Olympic (of shift line fame) have a great free pack of IR’s so I downloaded those and found some much more useable stuff I only use a ‘clean’ sound currently when gigging (playing Chic, Sister Sledge, Daft Punk - Nile Rodgers stuff) but I’d thought the B15 would still be ok for this on minimum ‘Dirt’ but I’ve found that it doesn’t really do subtle very well, and so I find myself not using the SGT (it’s hard to use it as an occasional boost too really cos of the weird volume thing), so I have started to question why I actually got it when I am bypassing it’s key feature 😂 Dont get me wrong, preamp alone sounds great, useful to have the cabsim from the DI (especially as I’m ampless and go direct to IEM) but it’s quite expensive to then not use the main feature, as the preamp doesn’t change if you swap between b15 and svt with the SGT off, it’s only to do with the SGT circuit. I have got some work doing some dep Northern Soul stuff coming up, so I can give the B15 sound a proper run out then!
  11. I’ve just got one of these and it’s epic, you literally can’t sound bad through it. Well worth the money
  12. Ahhh I’ve got you I hadn’t realised - that’s not actually an issue for me anyway as I have a dedicated DI. Payday isn’t till mid month, but let me see what I can sort out cos I really like the sound of these
  13. I really fancy this..! What’s the difference between the older and newer versions?
  14. I bought this bass brand new and then about 6 weeks later put it in PX with cash for his Ray35 in natural gloss - I can confirm the bass didn’t so much as leave my home studio ever until I dealt it, so it’s only 3-4 months old. Absolutely MINT bass, honestly even if you ignore the fact it has an omega badass bridge and ultra lite tuners it’s still an absolute steal, the neck is so nice to play and it has an immensely fat & funky tone, I had no intention of letting it go except I play in a Chic tribute and had been on the lookout for a Natural coloured Ray35 for months (that I could actually afford!) and so I couldn’t pass it up when offered the chance to get it I know people come on these threads and wax lyrical about basses they’ve had etc, but I said the same yesterday when someone was selling a Cort GB75JJ - these basses are absolutely amazing for the money, I’m a big Sire fan but for me this later GB75J range are something else. I expected I’d want to swap out the preamp and possibly the pickups, but it was spot on. I just spunked £600 on a Sire P8/5 from Thomann B-Stock, otherwise I’d have fully considered getting this back. it’s definitely had an easy life and it’s legitimately a killer for bloody Squier money - or less than Squier money if you look on Facebook Marketplace 🤣
  15. I absolutely love the look of this bass - it’s also got the exact pickups & preamp I’d put on a Jazz with a control plate input. It’s gonna be mid November before I next get a decent enough payday to afford this though, if it’s still here then though……. 😬
  16. I had a Cort GB75JH with the MusicMan style pickup at the bridge but everything else the same as yours, it was an absolutely fantastic bass that punched WAY above its weight - it was better than the Sire’s that I have IMO. I was a bit of a snob about having a Cort but I was well impressed - I’d have potentially took this if I hadn’t just spaffed all my cash on a different bass yesterday! Good luck with the sale - these basses are incredibly good for £300, I can’t think of anything that comes close at this price even 2nd hand
  17. Looks nice that, especially for the price! I’m the same as you, whenever I get a fretless I never really give it the time it needs and end up punting it on. Good luck with it 👍
  18. Bought my ToneHammer DI from me - super quick payer and no messing about at all, top man - would deal with him anytime 👍
  19. Is this still for sale?
  20. Did you sell this or is it still available mate? Thanks
  21. Thank you Keir - I hadn’t seen this, appreciated!
  22. Yeh I can see what u mean - it goes nicely before my Tone Hammer DI as that’s 40hz/4khz with sweepable mids as well, so I have a slight boost at 40, a bigger boost at 80, a mid bump around 400 on the TH and cut mids around 900 on the HB, and then I generally leave treble alone, but there’s obviously 2 diff frequencies there too, and the 5k is pretty usable. 10k seems extreme! The HB is really all about the mids IMO and for me I think it’d work quite well with that MB pre & the frequencies it doesn’t cover & for 50 quid new from the U.K. it’s well worth a punt
  23. If it’s the same as the Darkglass HB then it’s 80Hz/5kHz - I really like the bass boost on it, it’s a lot less boomy and punchier than some & I’ve never boosted treble past 1-2 o’clock even when I’m using it live as a ‘slap’ boost pedal with plenty top end needed, it’s a bit like a Sadowsky preamp in that way where the treble sounds nice but you really don’t need a lot.
  24. I’ve got one of these - absolutely bloody brilliant isn’t it! I’ve never used a Darkglass HB so I’ve never been able to say how close to the real thing it is, but it’s an excellent pedal either way. Only gripe is sometimes I have to have two goes to click it on (or off) so presumably that’s the cheap materials but it’s not a big deal and it’s an always on pedal for me generally anyway. I’m humming and ha’ing about giving the D7K Ultra & the ‘Call76’ a go too.
