  1. We thought about that but ideally we don’t want to go through this again ( they tend to be here for 3 yrs max ) although for the right singer we would consider it perhaps
  2. Her hubby is in the USAF and they will be posted to new location Our singer is American
  3. Yep that’s being considered too In fact we will have a handover period where new singer can co sing with the current singer
  4. All good advice .. some applicants ( female ) are even reluctant to send you clips or a pic !! As you say a good female rock singer are very rare. Our singer can go from tenor to mezzo soprano and looks hot too !! You can see the problem we have ! The set is 80% male bands material so this is also a challenge for many females. The right guy and a tweak to the set and a quick re-brand and off we go which seems the more likely option at the moment
  5. Sadly not one of those invited could actually sing well enough to front a rock covers band. Well there was one but she wanted to earn a living from singing so that wasn’t going to happen with us !
  6. Wow makes the bass lead amp comparison somewhat interesting!! Loads of redundancy built in even three tuners !! A different world of performing !!
  7. Our female fronted rock covers band is facing a dilemma and a challenge to find a new singer for 2024. Many auditions later and we have yet to find anyone remotely close. We have discussed the affect of having a female singer who will be compared to the original singer and unless they are as good or better they will always be seen as a “lesser” performer. Based on that we are thinking about a male singer and re-inventing the band A male singer wouldn’t be compared as much I feel to the outgoing female and of course opens up for other song opportunities. We have had around 10 female applicants, 6 who made it to audition stage and not one was suitable. This is our dilemma and one we need to solve by end 2023
  8. I think the amp shows the true sound of the bass very well. Lovely clean channel
  9. with gain on 0db ( default) mine is perfect and no clipping
  10. Yes the 7150 nickel have a higher tension and it was perfect for me as I play in Eb tuning The 7250 NP seem ok at Eb tuning and have a bit more zing compared to 7150. The low Eb is definitely clearer and more defined
  11. In fairness Supernaut was correct I had tried Rotosounds so I don’t think he had driven to Suffolk and entered the manor to rummage through the trash !
  12. Calling all Genzler Magellan users ?? Which contour setting Blue or Orange do you prefer and why ? Im thinking Orange for band use ? Set around 9 o’clock / 10 o’clock ?
  13. Yep a brief experiment with Stainless Rotosound but they sounded too harsh for what I wanted. I’ve tried various DR strings too but the Fender 7150 and 7250 are the ones I seem to come back to. The difference between NP and N is enough to improve note clarity and lose some of the woolly notes
  14. I’ve been fighting my tone for a while and found a string change type has helped with clarity I was a long time user of Fender 7150m pure nickel 45-105 strings which have a lovely warm tone and stay consistent for some time however … the output from the pickups is less and both the warmth of the tone and dropped output made my tone a bit woolly sounding. Swopped back to Fender 7250m nickel plated and hello clear tone again and a higher output from the pups resulting in a great improvement So .. my finger style playing tone is great so I can leave the pick alone and it’s all a better match for what I play
  15. No worries.. at least it didn’t end up in the bin !!
  16. Less woolly sounding but it’s to be expected as the ABM600 bass is set at 40hz and the Magellan is 75hz I believe ? It seems to be perfectly providing really useful EQ points and that makes it easy to dial in a tone for each bass and style. More versatile too
  17. One thing I’ve noticed already is the notes on the clean channel have a lot more weight and clarity to them Amazing sound especially with a PBass
  18. Definitely true I have had quite a few over the last two years. I think I have made progress but perhaps a minor one in truth as the other amps were equally awesome in their own way. However .. the Magellan 800 is definitely ahead of the game .. it’s clean channel is so nice I feel reluctant to kick in the drive channel ( which is subtle to say the least ) Very simple to control and adjust and get a great sound straight away. You can see the thought that went into this amp, all features very good and nothing unnecessary. The 2.67ohms was the reason I picked it ( like the TH700 ) it’s one of the few amps, excluding tube amps, that can run a 4 ohm cab with an 8ohm cab. This makes my Ampeg stack an amazing rig. Fingers crossed it’s got an equal reliability to Aguilar and the like. If Jeff Genzler looks on here .. thank you for a great product
  19. We do We will rock you leading into Tie Your Mother Down 👍🤟
  20. So the Genzler Magellan 800 arrived from Bass Direct ( great service ) and it’s being used with my Ampeg Svt212av cab with the option of adding my SVT112av using the 2.67ohms out for larger gigs or outside etc. First impressions are favourable and it’s a very clean sounding amp with a touch of warmth ( not quite as vintage as my ToneHammer ) but very nice and easy to get a good sound from it. The switchable drive channel is one of the best of heard and sounds spot on. Then the blue / orange contour settings give you even more tonal choices. I like it, very loud, but also very quiet when it matters ie studio or home ( not heard the fan so quieter than ABM or ToneHammer, Elf etc ) Build quality is fantastic and better in the flesh compared to the images They got it right with this amp, all works as it should and nothing you don’t need. Decent price too
  21. I still have my low cost Lekato which work fine. I do much prefer the Shure of course since investing in it and would always gig with that naturally. It’s a great time to get low cost alternatives and I’m happy either way.
  22. I think the new EVO iv have it too now
  23. Chris just purchased my Aguilar TH700 and the payment was prompt and communication spot on Trusted buyer
  24. Wow .. that’s very unprofessional to blame work colleagues or the owner / boss etc Ive only had very good service from them and would happily use them again but I think a bit of training into responding to issues should come from the top or an appointed manager who’s pay grade reflects the responsibility of customer service. I hope that’s not seen as criticism but so many good companies struggle due to poor customer service and often circumstances compound matters further
  25. Well .. I had briefly the EVO 5 and didn’t find anything better than my EVO IV 600 .. the extra watts are negligible and the tone was 100% a match to my ABM600 I don’t personally think it’s worth the extra cost but .. it does look very nice
